Viola Davis/Shonda Rhimes Team Up for 'How To Get Away With Murder'

It's interesting. But I wonder if whats going on is all staged ? As one big lesson for the students. Not sure how it would work but hey. Its an idea

I doubt it's staged since they burned the body.

His American accent was pretty good.

His acting though? Not so much. He really had the same look on his face a good 90% of the time.

This pilot was ****ing incredibly. I almost completely loved it, but I could do without the Frank/student thing.

So he's British?

Obviously. And this is his dad:

Don't know who that is.

William Russell (Enoch). He played Ian Chesterton in Doctor Who (Rhimes is huge fan of the show) and was one of the Kryptonian councilmen in Superman: The Movie

And the trend of Brits playing Americans continues. I will continue to watch this although I may drop out as I tend to do with her shows.

So those who have seen the pilot, do you think someone that's NOT a fan of Shonda's other shows would like it? I've never cared for Grey's or Scandal, but I love Viola Davis so I'm feeling like maybe I should check it out anyway.

Eh. I don't know. There's some Shonda-ness, but the typical Shonda-isms that I get annoyed by, that are always present on Grey's and somewhat present on Scandal, didn't seem that noticeable here. The pilot itself wasn't written by Shonda, so that might be why.

Never cared for either Greys of Scandal before and I will literally probably never watch them, but I seriously ****ing loved this pilot. Great pilot and I see a lot of potential for this show.

I don't watch any of Rhimes' shows, but this one has potential. It has a bit of a 'Clue' vibe to it.

The Shonda-ness I've noticed with this show is some of the characters really talked fast similar to Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, Off the Map and Scandal and the hook-ups. But those don't worry me. Grey's Anatomy had a great start while Private Practice and Scandal got better after the 1st season.

This show unlike Greys/Scandal wasnt created by Shonda so it has the slight benefit of being different.

But I did not know that thus far it is only planned to have 15/16 episodes a season which is another good thing going for it.

I really enjoyed the pilot. Hopefully, the show continues to be good. Viola Davis was great and the students were okay too.

I didn't know Ian from Doctor Who was Dean Thomas dad. William Russell must of been old when he had Dean Thomas.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. Guess I'll have to check it out.

The pilot was great.

Same. And I'm thinking Keating might have killed her husband and the students are doing her dirty work.

Yup. That's the first thing that came to mind. I also think that maybe she did it in a way that her students thought they were really the ones who killed her husband.

I'm thinking the boyfriend/side-piece is going to be framed for the death. Keating definitely started formulating a plan right when she was talking about the boyfriend committing the student's murder.

Although, perhaps she picked the students for a different reason than grades, i.e. an Ocean's Eleven of murder?

This was no Ocean's 11 group. That much is obvious by how they were all freaking out, uncoordinated and conflicting in how to handle the dead body.

It's a good start but so far it feels predictable but that could be a false lead too that will lead to a twist "no one saw coming."™
