Viral Marketing

The guy from Watchmen confirmed there's gonna be a Watchmen viral on G4's comic con special since The Dark Knight's viral success

i'd like i just like to see how they will do it.

I ****ing hate virals, but if they promised us the comic-con footage... I'd sell my soul to the great ad man in the sky.:(

I find viral marketing rather stupid to be honest. But hey, people sure bit on it for Dark Knight, so I wouldn't be surprised to see WB do it all over again for Watchmen. But will people play along to the same degree as they did for Dark Knight? Hrm...

Seriously? There's word of a Viral? I don't care what you guys say, I love the stuff. I was only a minor Batfan before TDK, but the viral made me a hardcore Batmaniac.

Let's see what a Watchmen viral can do with my great respect for the Graphic Novel.

i know, me too

If the rumors of a viral campaign are true, I don't think it should go or will go quite as far as TDK's did - but having said that, I would love a few more contests similar to the Veidt commercial one they did on YouTube. It's quick, easy, and it gets people excited for the film. I don't see why anyone wouldn't be happy about that.

I'm sure Watchmen will get something, but I don't think it'll be to the extent of TDKs' viral campaing

viral for TDK worked because it took place in real time.

couldn't do that with watchmen. was no internet in the 80s. not widespread anyway.

But this is an alternate 80's where Dr Manhattan has helped to advance technology. They may have had the internet.

If news vendors can still exist as a street stand buisness, I rather doubt it.

The World Wide Web was invented in 1989 by English scientist Tim Berners-Lee. The project was made public by the Swiss facility CERN in 1991.

I could see how Manhattan's presence could have quickened the production of this technology - though it would probably be restricted to government/scientific use (its original directive when being developed).

Aah I think you'd be surprised at the kinda things that survive, people said books would go out of fashion years and years ago..and yet...they're so strong at the moment, it's mad!

People likes things in their hands to read, like a paper, from an old style vendor.

Also, I thought the internet was around before that 'official' 89 claim anyway? In fact, I'm pretty sure prototype wise it was around for a good ten years before that.

C'mon with the virals! It'd be beautiful....I hope...:p

For your information, Al Gore invented the Internet in 1733.

We just had to wait 250 years for Bill Gates to invent PC's so anyone could access it.

And then once PC's were invented, we had to wait 12 years before The Video Professor could "learn us the computer."

C'mon, get your facts straight before posting.

Wow...You are my hero...:woot:

If there is a viral, I know I'd play it. I've been looking forward to the movie ever since I got the book.

So how do we know there is going to be a Watchmen viral? Is there anything concrete to back this up, or are we hyping ourselves for nothing?

If MissionBond92 heard it correctly, it was confirmed by a WB employee on G4's Comic-Con coverage.

Viral marketing is a great way to spread the gospel of the Watchmen. If it doesn't interest you, you don't have to participate. I want this movie to be successful, and all the virals can do is get more people interested, so why not.
