I do still agree that it was rushed a bit. They really should have let Shiro dead for a while, bringing him back because he's popular really shorted the character development that naturally comes from lion changes and even having Keith all protective of a leader role that he's only had for two missions was silly, as was the whole trying to make his long journey seem incredibly long when not enough time passed for anyone to a length experience in anything. They didn't give themselves time to earn that and I HATE it when shows make their storylines nonsensical in order to serve characters because of popular outcry. Shiro hasn't even been gone long enough for any kind of decent clone conspiracy to form. It's just sloppy and rushed and it brought down the episode count of the adventures of Voltron from 6/7 to 5/7 in a set of episodes that already feel rushed if you look at them as a real season, which they were advertised as. Dumb, dumb, dumb move, and it's that kind of by committee knee jerk fanservice storytelling that prevents this from reaching Avatar/Young Justice levels of storytelling quality.
I did call it on the lion changes, and on how those changes push a greater character development than would have happened if people had stayed in their original positions. It's nice to be proven right on that, and unfortunately, on how not letting Shiro rest was a bad idea, not a part of anything that is well planned out, even further driven home by the shock of his return sort of stunted by the very cool Sven shoutout.
So cool. So close.
