Animation Voltron: Legendary Defender

This season went by SUPER QUICK. I feel like I blinked and it was already over.

Yeah, it went by quick for me too.

I was surprised that the Shiro mystery stuff wasn't played up more.

Lotor is cold-blooded, so I don't think this possible new alliance will turn out well. Also, I was thinking they would show more of his approach of keeping the empire by being "allies" with the planets his father took over.

Testament to how good this show is, I was thinking about how every episode of OG Voltron had a beast fight but they've barely had any over 4 season and I only just now noticed.

I love this story!!

So no development with this not being the real Shiro?

Was the design of the coalition ships a nod to vehicle Voltron? That's what they brought to my mind. And speaking of V.V., Pidge's brother was named Chip on that show. Would've been a cool little nod to call him that here instead of Matt.

GLad that Lance is maturing...but he and Hunk have felt like they've been on the short end of the development stick

loved the episode
where Pidge found her brother
the actress who plays her did an outstanding job with it.

That batch went way too fast.

I was literally rolling over Allura's and Coran's reaction to the cow.

I liked Matt's reaction to meeting the Princess and Lance's reaction too :hehe:

The new "season" dropped? Well... Something to look forward to.

dang.... i didnt know S4 dropped already

*reschedules everything to catch up*

It dropped on the 13th. Was dissapointed with it. It was a let down.

^I agree. They stopped moving forward and stopped doing character-based growth for all their characters and it's just too bad.

Finished the new eps. Shocked the Shiro's return didn't end up being something sinister.

I think this formation of Voltron paladins is best. Keith wasn't a good leader.

Lotor is gonna mess up everything to get through that gate.

This is a great example about how not letting great characters die impedes character development. Keith had a great opportunity to grow here and to really change the dynamic of the team and of Voltron and they dropped the storyline of character development and Project Kuron for the less interesting storyline of Shiro doing what Shiro always did and Keith being put on a bus. Imho, the first major mistake of VLD.

At least Lotor will be interesting, and Pidge managed to get some great development, and the other paladins got some moments.

Nope, and seeing as how they're going with Shiro being accepted by the Black Lion, don't be surprised if that detail turns out to never be touched on or be something totally uninteresting. And we definitely won't find out where he went when he was presumed dead, and if we do, it won't be nearly as important as it was at the time.

I really can't express how much I hate when great stories are twisted to keep fan favorites in the spotlight. It always turns out to be worse for the story.

I don't think Shiro's absence would have helped the situation. Keith's character just wasn't a good leader. I hate when shows use discord as the same as character development. Characters yelling at each other isn't the same as growth.

The truth is that the characters simply defaulted to the idea of Black Lion = leader when it could just as easily have been Alura in the Blue Lion or Pidge in the Green Lion.

Bringing back Zarkon didn't wreck Lotor's development, it enhanced it cause at the end of the day, Lotor was/is a survivor. That line of growth is what makes his actions consistent and interesting going forward.

To be fair, it was a Dreamworks mandate that they weren't allowed to get rid of Shiro permanently. They wanted to keep him gone, but apparently, that would've gotten in the way of toy sales. That's why "The Voltron Show" feels like the writers are venting about executive meddling, particularly Coran's line about how they'll never get rid of Shiro.

Not to mention I don't think Project Kuron was suddenly dropped. Once again, because this has to be constantly repeated, this is only a small piece of a much larger season. Combined with "season 3", it's only half of the actual season. So, it's very premature to say that they dropped that story when we're only halfway through the actual season.

Keith's character just wasn't a good leader.

For real. I never liked how Keith basically had the role forced on him. It never felt natural, and his ascension as leader felt wrong. Not everyone is cut out to be a leader. It reminded me of how the situation was handled in Young Justice, where everyone (characters and audience) expected Robin to be the leader, but he was too immature to do so. When he got his first taste of leadership, he hated it, and season two proved that leadership really isn't his strong suit, so he handed it back to someone more capable (Aqualad).

I watched the season when it dropped and agree about Keith’s leadership being forced. I feel like we’ve been beaten over the head, Tyler Perry style, that Keith is not ready to be the leader. Let’s move on from that and focus on what happened to Shiro. Definitely, some let down with the season but it’s still one of my favorite shows going at the moment...

It seems like they are going to revisit the Kuron thing later? I guess the reason the black lion accepted him is because he does have some of Shiro's DNA. But he still might have some embedded brainwashing orders like the troopers in Clone Wars.

It's weird that we are half way done with this series. 39 more episodes to go!

That means they will probably get rid of fake Shiro and Keith will have to become leader again somewhere down the line. Meanwhile, real Shiro is probably somewhere in the Voltron Lion dimension.

I'm still waiting for Lotor to [blackout]finish his Voltron[/blackout]

Well, new toys were revealed. I wonder if that has any implications in the story.

At the very least, I get Winged Black Lion.
