Here's Heidi's forecast: Cloudy with a chance of deception.
WABC/Channel 7 weather babe Heidi Jones was arrested for perpetrating the ultimate snow job -- falsely claiming to cops that a man had tried to rape her while she was jogging in Central Park, sources said yesterday.
Jones, who anchors the station's weekend evening weather coverage and fills in on "Good Morning America," was charged Monday with filing a false report, a Class A misdemeanor. If convicted, she could face up to a year in jail or a $1,000 fine.
Jones spun a story that proved to be as unreliable as a five-day forecast, telling police last month that she was assaulted in September while pounding the pavement in the city's back yard, the sources said.

CLOUDY FUTURE: Channel 7 forecaster Heidi Jones has been charged with filing a false report after claiming she was attacked in Central Park.

Jones, 37, told cops she was jogging in the park on the afternoon of Sept. 24 when a Hispanic man in his 30s or 40s grabbed her from behind, dragged her into a wooded area and attempted to rape her.
She told police that the would-be rapist was scared off by two passers-by who came to her aid.
But for cops, the story was all wet.
The first clue was that she waited until Nov. 24, two months later, to report the alleged attack, the sources said.
At the time, the sources said, she told police that three days earlier, on Nov. 21, the same man somehow found her again and harassed her, saying, "I know you went to the police."
After cops took her report, detectives conducted a lengthy investigation, canvassing the area for video and witnesses.
Coming up empty-handed, they went to talk to Jones again -- and noticed inconsistencies in her story, the sources said.
After being confronted with the discrepancies, Jones admitted that she had pulled the story out of thin air, the sources said.
Jones said she concocted the tale in a plea for sympathy to counter some unknown setback that she was experiencing in her personal life, the sources said.
But whatever that ordeal was, Jones has apparently hidden it well. Most of her public posts, on both Facebook and Twitter, have been bright and sunny for weeks.
In one upbeat tweet posted Nov. 21 -- the day she said she was harassed by her make-believe attacker -- she wrote: "Here is ur turkey day forecast! Gobble gobble!!"
She even remained upbeat as the cops closed in on her.
"You guys ready for the arctic chill?" she posted on her Facebook page Monday, the day she was arrested.
"Ready or not . . . it's going to be bitterly cold tomorrow and Wednesday, with highs sub freezing and a wind chill to make your toes shake! Be careful!"

Jones said she concocted the tale in a plea for sympathy to counter some unknown setback that she was experiencing in her personal life, the sources said.

Omg......................

I posted a snippet a few months ago citing the top excuses the black man did it. You know, the trend I see here is something reminiscent of the film Rosewood. A bad situation happens in a woman's life and they go and accuse someone of a heinous crime. Why do people do this and beleive they can get away with this? This reminds me of the story by Kate Chopin Story of an Hour. She was noted for her work in securing women's rights, yet she was an advocate for slavery, she even risked prosecution for tearing down the American flag and replacing it with the Southern Cross. Why are people like this? Can we discuss why she chose to blame someone who probably has enough problems already? How many dudes were gaffled off the streets and interrogated ruthlessly because of this person?

The reason why people do this is because people get away with it more than you think. Sadly.

Of course she said it was a Hispanic man....

Did she lose her job or get an unpaid leave as a result of this?

They always seem to be black or Hispanic.

And who in their right mind would lie about something so serious? This woman is nuts.

Why is it that the maximum sentence she could get for lying about being raped is a year and/or a $1000 fine? If an innocent man had been arrested and convicted, his sentence would obviously be far more severe. If a person lies about being raped, they should get the same sentence the accused was going to get.

Not always. Perfect example of this is NFL QB Ben Roethlisberger, although he's alleged.

Yeah, no. There's a big difference between telling a lie, malicious and dangerous as it may be, and actually sexually assaulting someone, and it is right that the punishments are different. If it can be proven that the alleged victim is lying (and authorities often try to defer to that), then the accused (if an actual person exists, and not a phantom minority as in this woman's case), then aside from the legal recourse already facing the person making the claim, there are strong grounds for a civil suit which would punish them even further.

Not to take away from the severity of this issue, but I gotta say that "Cloudy with a chance of deception" is an AWESOME title.

You know that film was based on something that actually happened right?

Maybe it's me, but I get this feeling that this "unknown setback" in her life involves a guy.

I'm thinking that he was talking about if a person was actually convicted based on her lies. There was a case where a woman lied about being raped and a man had to spend six years in prison before the truth came out (there was a thread on the Hype about it a while back). I think in that circumstance the woman should absolutely have to serve as much time as the person who was convicted because of a lie.

Yea, but instead of accusing the white freemason, she accused an innocent black which led to a civil war amongst the town which resulted in the death of 6 blacksand 2whites so whats your point? Innocent people did not have to die over a woman lying simply to counteract "her situation!"

Anyway I wish more and more people would realize that despite whether or not we should forget about slavery the concept of racial segregation and civil rights has been ingrained in the American psyche model since it's inception 2 hundred years ago. Why should we forget when incidences like this continue to happen? This could spark a riot and more innocent people die. The selfishness of people today sicken me to the very bone. The saying rings true "those who forget the past are destined to repeat it."

I know this is bad, but she oughta get what's coming to her. One day when she is jogging, she ends up getting chased down by a Hispanic man. Justice would be served that day.

In rape cases, the burden of proof will always lie with the guy accused. Even assuming for a second that the woman is lying automatically makes you some kind of monster.

It happens much more that we like to think. For every one case that makes the news, there's probably hundreds around the country that don't.

My whole thing is why blame it one a minority? I mentioned this over on the thread of the woman that splashed acid on her face, and then said a black woman did it; are we (minorities) the poster child of crime in America? She could have easily said that it was just a guy, that had on a mask, so you couldn't see his face, or that it was a white guy...

Yeah we are, and have been for quite some time. Some of that is due to the higher conviction rates among minorities (especially blacks). Most don't realize though that those conviction rates have a good bit to do with unfair drug laws and proven racial bias in the legal system. It's no coincidence that the bulk of people who were in jail for years only to be freed later because of DNA evidence are black.

True.

Not to mention now there's all the paranoia surrounding illegal immigration.

Oh okay sorry. Not all the time. Just like 99.999999999999% of the time. Especially when the perp is made up.

This woman is so terrible that she deserves to be punched in the baby maker.

Unless we were in the Police Departments shoes, I don't know that we can judge them....they might have gone overboard on the guarding of her, but since she was a "celebrity" of sorts...seems to me they pretty much followed the procedure.

How'd you like to have to be the newsman who reads this story on that station?

"And now for the weather...Heidi?"
