WandaVision WandaVision General Discussion Thread

I hope Monica Rambeau becomes a fan favorite coming out of this series. It would really suck if the character sucks, which happens sometimes.

Really important that the first show starts well to create excitement and for momentum to start building. As we saw with what Mandalorian did for the start of the Star Wars shows and what Iron Man did for the MCU.

So what’s time does this hit Disney+? 12:01 est time?

I don't know if I'll actually stay up late like I did with The Mandalorian, but man does it feel good having another show to look forward to and a Marvel one at that. It feels like its been way too long and I love what I'm hearing about it so far and hopefully this is the start of something special in terms of the MCU branching out.

A few things:

* I like all the "sitcom" theme songs for each episode. They're new songs composed by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, who did the songs for the Frozen films and most of the recent Disney animated features.
* Was also great seeing Debra Jo Rupp of That 70s Show in this series. She blended into the story perfectly. She's a very underrated talent.
* There's also some more traditional MCU type music for the show by Christophe Beck that's also good. Once you see it, you will understand.

The first two episodes were great. I’m sure some won’t love them because they aren’t MCU big moments but it certainly is setting us up for a great story. Can’t wait for next week!

Not too sure what to make of this series yet. Obviously there’s something going on with Wanda and they’re setting up with the little glimpses we got in the second episode

Love the throwback to Dick Van Dyke and Bewitched. Pretty cheesy but that’s obviously what they were going for

Hopefully the story moves along quicker next episode

Loving this, completely unlike anything else in the MCU, or the genre in general, really interested to see what exactly is going on. This is also a big nostalgia trip, I used to watch old shows on TV Land with my parents a decent amount as a kid so the throwback to that era of television is a lot of fun.

Yeah, that’s how I feel.

I just finished the first two episodes and I really enjoyed them. I love classic sitcoms and they totally nailed that aesthetic, but they also have a Twilight Zone vibe to this show too, and it all just works. The fake ads are great too.

Bettany and Olsen's chemistry also shines, you can tell they have a level of intimacy with each other which really sells Wanda and Vision.

Can't wait to see what's next.

It's ok so far. Not great, but not terrible either. Even with two episodes in it feels slow and while I like the psuedo sitcom aspect of it they miss more than they hit as far as replicating the look and feel of the tv shows they're aping. It did get some chuckles from me, so there is enjoyment to get from it, but it does seem a bit amateurish on that aspect.

There is also the sense that this will be a slow burn and that like the first two episodes they will generally sweep away any opportunity to ask questions or explore what's going on and it will be a drip, drip of odd phrases, beeping and voices on the radio etc. Personally I thought the first episode could have been cut down significantly for all it accomplished and combined with the second.

First episode was great but won’t be for everyone. Especially for anyone expecting a typical Marvel movie. I remember watching old Lucy episodes as a kid and this definitely takes me back. If they can keep to this quality as each episode revisits different eras, this will be great.

I didn’t think they were that great in IW but they work well here. Olsen and Bettany have great comic timing.

It all depends on what they want to accomplish with the character. Given she was a child in the Captain Marvel film I'd expect they've got something big planned for her if she's turning up in WandaVision as an adult.

that probably means that she was one of the victims that Thanos snapped away at the end of Infinity War, and she lost multiple years of growing up.

I've watched the first episode and would have concerns that the format isn't suited to the story. I think I read somewhere that some episodes will be feature length??

Olsen is like a good mix of Lucille Ball, Sam from Bewitched and Alice from the Honeymooners all in one.

And you can tell Bettany was enjoying himself, didn’t know he was so funny.

How would she even be a child at that point? She had to have been 10-12 years old in 1996.

I can see some casual Marvel fans probably being put off by it, but man did I enjoy those first two episodes. The second one was by far my favorite though mainly because of how great Paul Bettany was which really suprised me. His chemistry with Elizabeth Olsen has never been better IMO and now I can't wait to see where this show goes next eventhough you can tell its going to be somewhat of a slow burn.
