Superman Returns Was Superman Returns the perfect movie?

I honestly dont think i'll ever watch X3 again, Fox just ruined what could have SO easily been the CB movie to end ALL CB movies.

yes the plot sounded amazing to me a i was so hyped up this couldve been THE BEST comic book movie ever.

but instead we got one of the lamest.

but still its amazing compared to superman IV (HE TOOK A WOMAN INTO SPACE AND SHE DIDNT DIE) and B&R (DANCING!!!! GORILLA!!!! )

as soon as i find a video of the gorilla scene i will post it

My opinion,Superman returns was a great film.I liked it.:supes:

lets see shes a catwoman so she eats cans of tuna! haha! ya get it? tuna? cat? hilarious!
the menacing villian is the head of a...cosmetics company? scary! crappy and obvious cg? impressive!

I liked SR a lot; but it was FAR from perfect

I'd give it an 8/10, it was well put together & had a great storyline. Hopefully Bryan Singer will further improve on what was done in SR in MOS.

Because we don't want to damage our brain even more. I think I damage my brain enough the first time I saw it. :o

Would you prefer the Gorilla scene in "Trading Places" instead? The one with the human dressed up as one with a female gorilla. ;) :D

How about the horny gorilla from Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls?

Agreed 100%, especially with the bolded part.

Sure, why not? Just as long it not from "Batman & Robin", I'm down with that. :hyper:

I feel like I'm going round and round in circles here, in the various threads, so I thought I'd just come out and ask it. I personally didn't like Superman Returns. In fact, in all honsety, I hated it. That's not because it was a terrible movie; it's because it wasn't a terrific movie. And yes, I know, my hopes were too high, and I set myself up for a fall.

But personal opinion aside, I honestly thought it was a fairly decent film. I think there were fantastic parts of it that I really enjoyed (as I've said repeatedly, I LOVED the rescue scenes), but for me, the bad parts of the film were too much and I just couldn't get past them

What I want to know is this; instead of arguing and just out and out denying that there were even any single flaws in the film, if I can happily say, yes there were good parts of the film, but that was not enough for me to love it, why can those that love it not just say yes, there were some awful parts, but they were not enough to make me not love it?

So basically, what I want to know is, do some of you actually believe the movie was flawless and perfect?
Hated it. In fact the only scenes I liked are the opening credits, except the bevel in the S.

and the FOS scene.

That is it.

In all honesty, the woman in space scene in Supermn 4 was not supposed to take place in space. Halfway through post, the producers informed everyone they spent all the money, so the people who were doing effects finished the film for free. Since they were under a time limit, they didn't have the time to paint or shoot a decent in the atmosphere plate to comp behind it, and all they had were starfields and earth shots. So, in a time crunch, that is what they did. To give you an example, the scene at the farm where Clark gets the green crystal and puts it in his jacket pocket was on a stolen location. The post crew drove around on a Sunday looking for farms with Barns were no one was home. They quickly ran in, shot the scene with a stand in's hand, and then got out of the barn. That was the state of the film.

wow thats unbelievably sad. wow just wow.

I think Batman Begins is pretty damn close to perfect, but that's just me.

Superman Returns, on the other hand, is a really really good film. It has its flaws, and some of them are big and irritating, so I try not to let my biased love for the character get in the way of what I think about the movie in general.

So many things I could talk about, but that's the gist of it.

Just finished watching it again, and I just wanted to talk about the scene where Lois, Richard, and Jason get trapped in the pantry in the sinking ship.

I've seen the film probably six times now, and it amazes me how frightening this scene is. Every time I'm absolutely terrified, which is quite extraordinary, because even when I saw the film for the first time in theaters, I absolutely knew NOTHING would happen to them.

Such a great scene.

Here is a direct quote from Dan Harris in reference to what the story is about.

DH: "The world at large has changed so it's a rediscovery story. He has to rediscover the world that he left and how it changed."

Let me ask the lovers of the film. What changed in the world? What did he rediscover? This is one of teh major problems with the film. We got nothing of what we were promised.

Here's a great question and a completely idiotic answer from Michael Dougherty:

Q: "What elements are crucial to have in a Superman film? "

MD:" Flying!"

Here is the biggest problem of them all.

MD: "Bryan said it best at Comic-Con, it's essentially a love story. He's completely invulnerable except for his heart."

It was supposed to be a Superman story NOT a love story!

Never read or care for what writers or directors have to say about the movies they're involved with. Not to mention actors. Never ever. Movies are to be appreciated by audience. The makers are the worse commenters on the movies they make.

yah....I remember Singer constantly saying Jason was Lois' and Richard's Kid............and we all know how that turned out..........

Well actually I think that is in fact one of the major problems with the movie. They thought they could get away with trowing ideas at the audience without exploring them. If you are stimulated by and idea, then great. Probably you watched the rest of the movie in your own imagination. But if as an audience member you wanted to be asked a question and then see how they, as the film makers, resolved it, then you were disappointed.
