No, it wasn't worth the wait...unless you're waiting until it comes to cable television.

The fact that it's "superman" it can not be flawless. The original idea of superman and his secret identity already causes problems that no movie, unless thought out the box, can ever change. Superman is the most foolish concept to bring to the big screen so it's always gonna have holes and flaws gallore in the character design and his world alone. I love the guy, but truth be told.

Singer just botched everything up and the future of supes is dim. In my neighbourhood, superman is now catagorized as a romantic chick flick like what spidey one bordered. It is TOO sentimental for any guy with a real set. I understand the thought of what singer tried, but his homosexuality penetrated into the production of this movie. You can tell no straight guy would make a movie like this. Hell even Titanic was more aspiring for what it attempted to hit.
second this:up::up:NO straight guy would do a **** like superman returns what a dissapointment

Time a genuine Superman fan posted.....it was a fantastic movie.....loved seein Big Blue on the screen again!!! I loved the original movies and this was great addition to that established storyline. SR left the door wide open for all sorts of possibilities......I was very excited with the finished product.....most definitely worth the 20-yr wait!!! Nerds are the harshest of critics.....so harsh in fact that it practically negates their opinion as it goes so far beyond the norm......unfortunately most miss the point despite their "extreme knowledge of the character and associated background". Eh, haters will hate.....fortunately they're just a minority; although they're relentless in their pursuit of said "hating". We must forgive them as they have little else in their lives which makes them happy....I forgive them.

People are disapointed. With 60 years of superman stories he gave us a watered down vague sequel to the 70's version and wrapped it in a kitchen sink romance people would call...a "chick flick."
Remember this is SuperMAN.
NOT Pretty in Pink.

very true my friend:up:

But Superman is a love story at the core centered around Kal/Clark's love for Lois....it's also a story about searchin for acceptance and devotion to family. I don't understand why this is hard to grasp or accept. Batman is a story about loss and revenge. Spiderman is a story about responsibility. XMEN is a story about overcoming obstacles and being left out because you're different. Hulk is a story about controlling inner demons and rage.

Despite the core story behind Superman he still whoops more ass than all others. In SR Superman performed almost every superfeat he's capable of.....not all, but almost all. In the next film it'll more action, more intensity, more "Superman", but at the core will be the love story.

So anyone who dislikes the film is a nerd, a hater, or a loser. It couldn't be that we simply didn't like it.

Thank you for clearing that up. My eyes are now open. I will now go shoot myself.

Sure it was a love story, but that "story" as poorly written and acted, who was Superman searching acceptance from? the people, can't be them because they welcome him back with open arms, is it Lois? well she fell back in love with him when he to her for a flight, what family was he devoted to? because I seem to remember him leaving his widowed mum for 5 years.

the problem is....in SR....there was no love story!!!

The love story was tainted.....corrupted by a benign, silly soap operish plot.....

there was no innocence or magic with this love story.........it was based on a failed relationship born out of total irresponsibility.....

Yes, Superman should be about acceptance and devotion to family......we did not get that in SR.

A superman devoted to family WOULD NOT have left Lois ( the woman he's supposed to love ), his adoptive mother ( y'know....the woman that raised him), or his adopted home planet for 5+ years....

acceptance.......devotion, nobility, great responsibility.......a Love triangle between Lois/Clark/Supes......all those should be in a Superman movie.........but they were SORELY missing from SR........

...and Fantastic Four is about family. Did that make it a good film? None of the root story dynamics make the film good or bad. That argument has absolutely nothing to do with Superman Returns being a good film.

This guy says it best.

and.....in regards to acceptance.........they dropped the ball on that theme as well.....Why???? Because EVERYONE, except Lois, welcomed back Supes with open arms.....they were all pretty happy Supes came back.

There was not shunning by the public.....ppl didn't shout at him...throw rocks at him......call him a coward for abandoning him.....refuse his help......

If I recall correctly, in Superman 2, when it looks like Supes is running away from Zod and co......the crowd was shocked and disheartened......they felt their hero was abadoning them....

Well....that should have been in SR......but magnified manyfold.........the world/public should have been cynical....indifferent.......even chilly to Supes return......

it should be up to Supes to WIN the public's trust back.....through courage and unselfish sacrifice.........then by the end.....when the public realizes how noble Superman is.....then they would accept him again as their hero....

but....sadly.....there was none of that in this film......there could've been.......the plot elements were there.........

eyy you **** i dont agree with you about "the badly filmed fight scenes in batman begins"they were filmed like that because nolan wanted to show how letal can batman be so dont **** about that, because im gonna start flaming that **** movie superman returns
Is this a fake account? Seriously. I have a hard time believing that someone could actually write something this retarted unless they were doing it on purpose. First off, learn to communicate in at least a semi-intelligible manner. Second, it wasn't to show how lethal Batman can be, and I've heard that before. It was to hide the mobility of the Bat-suit. Flame away. I'm anxious to hear your wonderous thoughts on the subject.

Yeah, I guess. I mean, I didn't actually wait 20 years. I am 20....so, I guess I did though. I dunno. My head hurts. Where am I?

LOL....seriously, yeah....I think it was worth the wait. Batman Begins, though.....now that was worth the wait. What, we all waited like 70 years for that one, right?

Dude.....the Batsuit was mobile. How do you explain that kick he gave the ninja, and the elbow block he did?

No, it wasn't worth the wait at all...unfortunately

I'll be first in line for a sequel anyway. I just know even though it's probably going to be wrath of zod and friends, what I'm looking forward to most is seeing Jason clobber Zod with a guitar.

give me a minute, I'll draw an illustration for you quickly in ms paint.

ok here, this is what I want to see.

forgive the crappyness. it's just a quick sketch. It'll be in slow motion so we can savor the moment.

lol, okay. Can't wait to see that.

Guitar, dude? Ya gotta toss something bigger.

It definately wasn't the wait!! The crappy suit the crappy CG digital double shots. Why did they have to make another Superman film (retorical question). First, the new crappy Star Wars films, now a crappy Superman film, then we'll probably get another crappy Indiana Jones film, and Michael J. Fox wants another Back to the Future film! Why do they have to make crappy sequels to good films! :(

:) ah, heh it was originally a violin. perhaps a cello then. Musicians bring those things on the train sometime and boy are they huge.

What about a massive rock sound stage?

Or....the Rolling Stones?? Yeah....they should do that. Forget tossing object, have him toss actual human beings at people. That'd be ****ing gangsta.

like I always say about the Punisher movie, I wanna reboot!!! After seeing Superman TAS I always had a healthy respect for Luthor. I would have hoped this movie would have grown up in respect to the animated series. No, your right we get a game show Luthor and no real sense of danger. This movie tried too hard to be Superman 5. I like Singers vision though, if he had a DC comics purist working over him Singer could easily bring to life such gems like Crisis. Yea I was dissapointed, but hey I have Bats vs Superman to look forward to. Heres hoping they stick with Bale, and maybe cast someone else for Supes.

if there's one good thing about this movie, it's the CGI.
That's funny most poeple think that the CG digi double sucked! Even people in the CG industry were unimpressed.
