Wasn't Hiro near death???

WTF? Hiro was in the hospital dying. He goes back to save Charlie and Peter goes to get the healing power. Now Peter lost that power and Hiro is doing the bidding of Samuel with no effects of his cancer. It seemed before everytime he used his power he would get a nosebleed or suffer some kind of ailment. Now he has been using his powers frequently with no negative effect.

He did try to use his powers and I saw him use a tissue when he had a bleed
