This is not a bashing thread just a reflection of sorts what were some things you would done differently. Like cut a scene down that might of dragged the film or maybe expand more on a certain aspect of the film.Maybe something you would of out right cut out for a smoother pace of the film.Would you have moved some scenes to happen earlier than they did etc.?

I would have handled the transitions to the flashbacks at the Comedian's funeral a bit differently, make them flow into each other better. That's just off the top of my head, I'll add more if I can think of it.

I would've had the Rorschach/Big figure sequences take place in solitary like in the comic. in the final confrontation it doesnt make sense that no-one is watching, or helping big figure when he ends up alone with Rorschach.

-would have keot nothing ever ends line to adrain than dan

-would have changed the finla action fight scene with NO/Rorschach/ozy

-would have shortened the sex scene to 20-30 seconds

does anyone else feel the funeral should of happened a bit earlier than it did so we get to know Blake a bit sooner

and as good the the Dan/Laurie relationship was done i think they could of cut some stuff down or out totally as i think it might of dragged the film in certain parts

I would change a lot of the music so that it didn't stand out so much. More original stuff, little to no lyrics.

I would have replaced Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" with John Cale's cover, which is MUCH better.

More nude scenes for Malin Akerman! :funny:

Zack Snyder didnt realize that the only the song lyrics applied to the story, not the song itself. Most of them didnt fit at all. I would of changed the music choice and settled with the score (which was actually pretty good).

its so frustrating to me that it'd only require a few simple changes to take the film from being really good to really great!

Very true. All that was needed was an exact duplication of the Karnak scene. Snyder was faithful to pretty much everything else except that final scene. It just angers me trying to understand why.

yea i know, but i think all directors who do adaptations want their own take into it

I kinda like the new ending.... then again I HATE Manhattan, so it is kinda nice to have the world think he blew up half of New York.

my only issues with karnak was omitting "nothing ever ends" from manhattans dialogue. and also, when they turned on the TV's, i really would have liked the video feeds to have been coming from all over the world, rather than just nixon.

changing the "nothing ever ends" line was a huge mistake in my book. I mean u still got the idea that Adrian is ****ed up in the head after Laurie and Dan left, but if Curdup delivered that line perfectly, it woulda sent mad chills down my spine.

i would have also changed the musical cues, shortened up the sex scene, added more death to the destruction in the NY disaster scene, kept the squid with concise but adequate explanation, and also added flashbacks of osterman's dad in the mars sequence.

Did you guys realize one of the Watchmen scripts had Rorshach surviving? Ew..... I love him, but that would have ruined the movie.

here is one thing i would of done when the tvs came on i would had the camera pan into the tv to show the fire and carnage left behind

1. Have Jon not be naked. He could wear a speedo throughout the movie for all I care.
2. Cut down the sex scene considerably.
3. Make the Rorschach jail escape scene less gory, I mean the part where that guy gets his arms cut off. I just found it gross.
4. Jon's energy signature at the end wouldn't disintegrate NYC but instead leave lots of blood and carnage. I think the gore would've left a greater impression on the audience.

1 and 2 didn't really bother me but they seemed to be turn-offs to the GA so I would've just done without them.

this was one thing i didnt care for in the movie as much. when i watched the motion comic, the sight of NY with all the dead bodies was truly haunting and terrifying, but in the movie it seemed more like just a bomb blew up an empty city. the depth of the moment seemed lost.

1. Showing a lot less would be great, but the effectiveness of having him naked shows how detached and careless he is towards humanity.
2. It was pretty ridiculous. I love me some Malin Ackerman though....
3. Once again, it's more effective showing how ruthless Big Figure is, and how far he will go to kill Rorschach.
4. I completely agree, for the same reason for my responses to 1 and 3. It's much more effective to show them all bloody and stuff, just like the first few pages of Chapter 12. I do miss the squid, because something about leading up to that creature makes it horrifying when you see it.

No. That would destroy a key element of the character. The only thing I'd change is that his "outfit" would gradually change, he wouldn't just suddenly go to the speedo.

2. Cut down the sex scene considerably.

It's like a minute and a half long. What's cutting it down going to accomplish?

I know, maybe we could just pan away and the Owlship's windshield curtins could blow or something.

3. Make the Rorschach jail escape scene less gory, I mean the part where that guy gets his arms cut off. I just found it gross.

That's the point. However, it's not just meant to show how far Big Figure was willing to go. It's meant to show how far gone Rorschach is, which is chilling.

Look what happens when he is splattered with blood.

Next to nothing. He barely reacts. Just like in the book.

4. Jon's energy signature at the end wouldn't disintegrate NYC but instead leave lots of blood and carnage. I think the gore would've left a greater impression on the audience.

Maybe, but I fail to see how a destroyed city didn't drive the point home. The issue I have with this sequence is how relatively quickly is passed.

and you don't care for the citizens imo it can be as bloody as you want but when we dont even know some of the people who cares.

i think the should of cut down some of Laurie/Dan scenes not sure which ones but it seemed to slow down the film for some people and give some time for side characters

I would change a lot of the music. Some songs really felt out of place and distracting. They didn't flow with the scene at all, like the scene with 99 Red Balloons playing.

Shorten the sex scene. I would just cut away or fade out relatively early. And no "Hallelujah." That's another bit of distracting choice of music.

I would have changed the ending so Dan wasn't there when Rorschach dies. Having Dan there yelling "NOOOOO" made the scene a lot more generic. Rorschach dying by himself in the comics made the scene a lot more impactful and unique for me.

I also think more gore during the New York scene would have made it a lot more impactful. The movie made the deaths of those people a lot less real. Like Project said, you don't really care as much. Its bad only because a bad thing happened and not because the movie portrayed it in an effective way.
