So I recently was givin a copy of this and read it within the day. Do any of you know if there is plans to make it into a movie?

It's "Watchmen," and it's languishing in development hell.

Since when? It seems that it's moving along at a pretty steady pase to me.

Alan Moore is probably damning the film's chances to hell as we speak.

Good cuz the movie WILL suck. Hard.

If by suck hard you mean, it will give you the pleasure equal to the best ******io in the world, then you are right.

I wish it would be as good as a bj. Hell, even a lousy one. But it won't. Is there a way to make a good and faithfull Watchmen adaptation? Hell yes but not with any studio.

As if any of you comic geeks would know what THOSe are like....

I bet none of you have even been within 20 feet of a girl (besides yo mommas)

Oh i full acknowledge that, good thing i signed up back in like 8th grade

And you have spent your life making 2,500 posts here. congratulations.

Terry Gilliam was once considering the project, and he asked Alan Moore what he thought should be done for a film adaptration. Aln simply said "Don't." Gilliam thought about it and agreed, and left the project.

Thats too bad it might have been good. at least if somebody did make a movie version and it sucked (hard) then these dumb debates wouldnt keep going on and on forever.

As great as a Gilliam Watchmen movie would have been, I respect his decision to ask Alan his opinion first. Classy.

Did they ever decide on a screenplay to use?
The final screenplay was written by Alex Tse. I believe he rewrote his first draft to place it in 1985 instead of current times.

I'm not to sure on the whole "he asked Alan and thats why he never did it" thing but I do know he planned on doing it as 3 3hour long movies all filmed back to back ala LOTR but the studios literally laughed in his face. (you gotta remember this was long before it became pretty much a standerd practice to make sequels this way.)

I really can't wait for this film. Huge fan of Watchmen for sure, always have been.

the only way to do watchman is either LOTR style, or as an HBO mini series, neither of which will ever happen, so the movie will no doubtedly be awful

Anyone know when the movie is supposed to come out, or if a release date was confirmed? :D

They haven't even started the casting process yet. It's going to be a while. At least a year and a half away, I bet.
