WB Considering Jon Hamm for Superman

Christopher Nolan is producing, David Goyer writing and Jonah Nolan possibly helming. That's enough to get fans excited and what not, but it doesn’t answer the question everyone wants to know, "Who will be the new Superman?"

With plans set for a December 2012 release, we've heard different names out in the open ranging from Chuck star Zachary Levi in the "Rumor Mill" department to True Blood actor Joe Manganiello publicly campaigning for the role. But who do the studios (in this case, Warner Brothers and Legendary Pictures) have their eye on for mild-mannered Clark Kent and his red-and-blue suit wearing alter ego, or is it the other way around?

Sources tell TMT one such actor being "seriously considered" is Mad Men star Jon Hamm.

At thirty-nine (He'd be past forty when The Man of Steel opens), he's certainly older than who's regularly looked at for these franchises. Then again, look at Robert Downey Jr. He's starring in the Iron Man and Sherlock Holmes films (and then there's Avengers) and he's a few years older. Not to mention, Hamm happens to have been a fan-favorite for Kal-El for years now. Something that was suggested to him directly by Music Television and it wasn't like he immediately dismissed the notion.

Before anyone starts nerdgasming, keep in mind no deal is in place and there's no indication Hamm and/or his representation has met with WB, Legendary or the Nolan crew. He's one of several names being thrown around the Burbank offices to headline the new Superman franchise. But it gives you an idea of what direction they're looking at.

He's my best choice.

No for me, too old and too short. I want a younger choice

He's the type of actor I was expect to be cast. If it's an origin movie, his age seems like it would be a problem.

That's my only concern with Hamm. If this is a reboot, would he still look good for at least two more films? I'm a bit of a continuity freak. I would hate to see another Superman cast after the first one.

He always seemed like more of a Bruce Wayne to me than Clark Kent:

But honestly, he's got a Superman vibe more than anyone else I can think of. I'd support that for sure.

Hamm 6 or 8 years ago—hell yes. It's probably pushing it now though.

Jon Hamm for Batman after Bale. Joe Manganiello for Superman.

????

Sorry to be rude, but are you guys mad?

We are talking about someone to follow in the foosteps of the great Reeve, a QUALITY Giulliard (spelling?) trained actor.

Routh can't act.

Hamm is decent but nowhere NEAR the level of Reeve.

Who is that guy above the post I am writing on.

That leaves only one. Jim Caviezel.

A VERY under-rated actor and one who can take it in a different direction. ONLY way you can come back after the amazing job Reeve did. We all know the debacle that was Singerman Returns

No ones following in the foot steps of reeves.and its not fair to hold somebody to that standard because it can simply not be done

Routh can't act.
thats not true.I've seen him in superman returns, chuck,SPVTW,small part in zack and miri make a porno.he's not bad

no one is ever gonna live up to your reeves standard.Although I think Hamm is to old for the role.so i agree on any feelings that it shouldn't be him

Ok now Granted the only movie i ever seen Caviezel in was angel Eyes.Which i thought was ok.he did a good job in it.shouldn't super man look like a towering muscular type of person?I mean i guess if hes that good he might get a pass.I just don't see it

Watch the Caviezel movies I mentioned, NOT Angel Eyes

Must have been in another thread, sorry.

Frequency, Passion of the Christ and Deja Vu. Check those films out. Then you will know he is easily the strongest actor that has been mentioned

Frequency and Deja VU are fantastic but Deja Vu is more of the master class that is Denzel Washington that Jim C.

That's the thing. Denzel was good as always in Deja Vu but Caviezel played that messed-up emotionally unbalanced character VERY well. He can bring A LOT to Superman with the right director

Really you want to see this? NO THANK YOU!!! So far nobody here has brought up anyone worthy of the \S/

The only worry I would have with him is his height. He can act and he looks the part, in the face, perfectly.

So high on Mod power.

That's me....banning poor innocent souls for no reason whatsoever other than that they have blue eyes....damn, I hate blue eyed people.

So bad and/or lame!!!!!!

Also, Chris Reeve wasn't that great of an actor, he just played Superman really well.
