WB is Making the Suicide Squad movie

They need to get Ostrander as a creative consultant IMO. And for the love of god hire people who will read the comics.

I'm interested to see where this goes. DC villains haven't gotten a lot of live-action play, even the A-list villains, because WB is always revamping Bats & Supes. The only thing I'm worried about at this point is Justin Marks writing the script. He's not off to a great start with Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li.

Either way, I've got the perfect tagline for the posters right here:
THIS [AUGUST?]

SAVE THE WORLD

OR DIE.
They should use the tagline from the first issue. With the "One of these guys won't make it back" line.

Good chance they would just hire him to please fans and won't really let him do anything like Larry Hama and GI joe. It be best of he just wrote the movie.

That's why he needs to be a consultant to get his voice heard.

True, it just won't happen since he doesn't have the connections or the right Hollywood screenwriting resume. :csad:

I don't know about that for a movie. That line would work better with a series.

So who would you guys want on the team, and who'd be your cast?

I figure the obvious ones to be in the film are Waller, Deadshot, and Bronze Tiger

Amanda Waller - CCH Pounder
Rick Flag - Cole Hauser
Deadshot - Viggo Mortensen
Captain Boomerang - Geoffrey Rush
Bronze Tiger - Michael Jai White
Poison Ivy (if the Batman films aren't using her) - Christina Hendricks
Vixen - Zoe Saldana

Amanda Waller - CCH Pounder
Rick Flag - Cole Hauser

Deadshot - Viggo Mortensen
Captain Boomerang - Geoffrey Rush
Bronze Tiger - Michael Jai White
Poison Ivy (if the Batman films aren't using her) - Christina Hendricks
Vixen - Zoe Saldana

I like the bold, but I'd rather see Timothy Olyphant as Deadshot and Kevin McNally as Captain Boomerrang (circa Identity Crisis). I know they may be lesser actors in comparison in general to Viggo and Geoffrey, but Viggo doesnt seem like Deadshot at all to me outside of his action experience and Rush would be good, I just like the other guy better.

Timothy Olyphant would be a good Deadshot, too. But I prefer Rush over McNally for Boomerang.

I like your picks. I hope this movie gets off the ground I LOVE the Suicide Squad.

How would you guys feel with Jason Statham as Deadshot?

I've got to say no to Statham as Deadshot. If the film is made they'll hopefully keep the complexity of the character, and Statham's not a good enough actor to properly play that. Plus Mortensen and Olyphant not only have much better acting chops, but they'd also both look good with Lawton's trademark mustache (which Statham wouldn't).

I doubt Viggo would ever do this movie. There's a chance of Olyphant, though.

He looks finw w/ facial hair

Picture him with just the mustache. Not a good look for him at all in my opinion. But even if they ditched the mustache for the character, I don't think he's that good an actor.

I think it would look fine. We'll just agree to disagree on the second part, as while he may never be an Oscar winner, Deadshot is something he can do, and do well IMO.

We'll have to agree to disagree on both points. :cwink:

Can we agree he wont win an Oscar? :p

Still I think he'd own in this movie.

Jason Statham is really good at driving fast, shooting guns, and being chased by angry people. He is a living action movie. I can't think of any movie I've seen him in where he doesn't do at least 1 of those things.

Well, the gist of that article is that there's a shortage of actors who can play tough guys. Statham certainly can project a tough guy persona - and that's something of value to producers, especially in action vehicles that don't call for much else. But I don't think Statham has much of a range beyond that. Olyphant, for one, has far more talent in my opinion.

For someone who "isn't a good actor," Jason Statham sure seems to do pretty well for himself:

“We all wish there were five more guys like Jason Statham,” says producer Mark Gill. “There’s no shortage of roles for them. There’s a shortage of guys who can plausibly do them. The more expensive the budget, the narrower the list.”

He won't be villains, unfortunately. That's the main reason why he wouldn't be Deadshot IMO.
