Superman Returns WB, Singer, and the Sequel

Superman Returns is the new Superman 3.

Just like Batman Begins retconned Batman, Batman Returns, Batman Forever, and Batman & Robin (and in someways Catwoman) out of Batman movie continuity; Superman Returns retconned Superman III, Superman IV: The Quest for Peace, and Supergirl out of Superman movie continuity
that is just not possibe. It's a vague sequel. a parallel universe version of the donner verse singer said it himself.

My opinion is right though. :o :)
According to everyone I read on here....everyone's opinion is the right one and everyone elses is wrong unless they agree with them....so whatever makes you happy.

It is reasonable to think, now anyway, that the boy is superman's kin and will become his sidekick someday using what evidence was currently have in the movie.
Quite possibly...that's why I neither said he was or wasn't his kid, but gave examples of why he "may not" be.

-throwing a piano
*this is just impossible for any average 6 yearold
It could be superstrength from Kryptonian DNA or an adrenalin rush from seeing his mother menaced.

-sudden healing factor
*another example of him manifesting superpower. It seems to cure him of his millions of diseases.
We see him not use his asthma inhaler one time when he at first thinks he might use it...that's not clearly a healing of all ills.

-Superman's speech
*Why else would he tell superkid all that stuff he learned from his dad?
Jason is the kid of his ex-girlfriend that Supes suspects could be his kid...so in his meloncholy state of returning from finding the destroyed Krypton, realizing that he really could be the last of his race, finding the love of his life has moved on because of his unexplained absence of many years, and just recently overcoming a near death experience.....he repeats a talk his dad gave to him that comforted him in his own youth.

Not until the papers are legaly notorized and registered at the courthouse.

I consider the "vagueness" that Singer said to just be something that he said straight out of his ass :o

Did Singer actually say it was a "parallel universe version"?

Not exactly, but he said "return to a version of the donner universe"

The piano that they used there is a Steinway & Sons D-model. That thing concretely weights almost 600 kilograms... very unlikely that a five year old can throw that like a toy under adrenalin rush... that thing takes 4-5 adults just to move it... to throw it is merely impossible unless it's done with a crane. So I'd bet on Kryptonian DNA.

"a version"

Ok.....that's all I need to know....there is nothing to debate anymore....carryon.

Adrenaline rushes do happen, some of these rushes are REALLY surprising. But, in context- I highly doubt that's what it was. Especially due to the speech at the end "the son becomes the father, and the father the son" of the film.

I still doubt an adrenaline rush makes you lift a 600 kilogram beast and throw it far and fast and with strength enough to crush it...

Don't know what this means, but some adreanline rushes sometimes goes as far as lifting a car to save somebody that is underneath it. Don't know exactly how the two line up. But, adrenaline rushes can sometimes lead to incredible situations.

Ah, so that's what it was. I love pianos, and I always have to go up to one and find out which model it is, LOL...

I agree, that thing is a monster, and there is no way a 5-year-old could have pushed it with that momentum even under an adrenaline rush. Hell, I'm 110lbs and I have trouble pushing a concert grand across a hardwood floor all by myself. I lean against it with all my weight and....it budges. With the weight of a 5-year-old, he simply could not have produced enough leverage against it.

Unless he's an outrageously dense kid and Lois and Richard have to have superstrength to be able to pick him up. :p

Lifting the piano would require only brute strength, but it was clear that Jason pushed it, and the force of a push depends on your weight. Or more specifically, how much you can grip the ground. Was Jason wearing soccer cleats? :)

Well... I know because it's my job...:D

Still pushing it at the speed it was pushed would require an insane amount of strength... that thing weighs almost like a car and it didn't movie very slowly precisely.

Well wait. Unless I am reading this, we are still debating if jason is his son. He is. Lois tells him in the hospital. At the end he gives his father speach ripped from STM, and then before he flies away Lois said she was sorry she hadn't told him earlier. So he is his sone. Unless you guys were arguing something else.

I know the top brass now perhaps reget Singer`s Superman Returns.Even if they do not admit this differently,if a sequel is to be made.Things must be different.

You 'know' this? Lol. You don't 'know' anything. Nobody does. The anti-SR don't. The pro SR don't. BOTH sides are bias. Truth in the middle. You can think what you want, but you don't 'know' one way or another. Don't go overly extreme in phrasing.

The notion that Superman Returns was not profitable for WB is just plain ludicrous. Yet many here continue to amble on saying it wasn't.

Why is it ludicrous?

The figures are out there for the film's current revenue, cost, and P&A. We know how the box office is divided between the exhibitors and the studios. At this point in the project's life, it's not exactly going out on a limb to make that claim. Will it wind up turning a profit when all is said and done? Most likely, though just how much isn't certain. Is it in the black at the moment? Not even close.

If you've got more than pure conjecture to the contrary, I'm all ears....

Just a nitpicking point but it's never shown that Jason picks up the piano. It looks like he shoved it.

That's hot. ;)

Yes, and I touched on the impossibility of him doing that if he didn't have superstrength in my previous post, LOL. Or was I arguing on the impossibility of it in general? Hmmm...

So the only reason WB made SR was to make Singer happy??? WB are idiots thats why they are losing so much money this year.

Looks like WB is going to thow good money after bad money. I really hope they don't do it for 3 movies like they did with Batman.

LOL... still it takes 4-5 adults to push that thing several inches...:D
