Superman Returns WB, Singer, and the Sequel

Yes and I will Boycott The Dark Knight because they use The Joker again. Nolan is so un-original...

[/sarcasm]

I just don't get the Zod hatred. Sure, I would prefer a movie with another villain, but to boycot a sequel with Zod? No way. The movie could be great with Zod as a villain.

The joker in the dark knight will be as similar to the Joker in batman89 as Bale's Batman was to Keaton's.

I agree, it was metaphor to say the least. I think that the artist formerly known as Oldguy said it best, when he called it a "funeral for the Donner unvierse."

I'm baffled. LOL so which is this movie? i've heard a few

"re-establish donner's superman"

"re-introduce donner's superman."

now it's a funeral.

It's definitely a funeral but I won't say why.

Kumar drops the burger. He's stunned.

Jack: WHO ARE YOU WORKING FOR!

Kumar: I don't have a job.

Awesome.

What if they have Bauer vs Superman?
That'd be cool...Jack would kick that whinny, teary Superman in a flash...

Bauer rules!

Yeah. Of course it will. BB did.

I predicted 400 mil domestic but I must have been thinking of the wrong film. But anyway, I've always thought 200mil was do-able in light of it opening being ok and batman begins' take, plus imax being a big draw. Let's not forget Jason either. The girls can't resist him.

Yes I'm with you on that, but the point is that I'd rather take a SR sequel with Zod rather then no SR sequel at all.
but are you desperate? thats like saying i want rather a bad movie than wait 5 years for a good movie.

Only 3 million to go! I know a sequel is already a go, but it would be nice and honorable for SR to cross at least the $200M mark domestically.

Just because the studio heads say there will be a sequel does not make it true.
The movie needs to show profit with the DVD sales before they will sink anything more than saying they are going to make a sequel into it, like say real resources and money towards that SR2 production and that has not yet happened so really a sequel is not already a go.

The "Studio Head" is not the only one that wants a sequel it seems as Legendary also agreed to help out again. So just accept it already that there will be a Sequel

Hmmm did you even read my post????
No money or resources besides them saying they plan on a sequel have been committed so umm WRONG no a sequel is not guarenteed and they can say whatever they want but until they commit money towards it well its just hot air until then.
What about that is hard to understand????

RIF

First off I can care less what you or anyone else here thinks so I will not be eaing my own words ever get it.
Second see RIF above all I have said in the last two things I posted in this thread was that they have not put any resources or money into a sequel yet other than them saying they will make one which until resources/money are commited is just hot air....plenty of studios have said they would make a sequel to a movie that never gets made....

RIF learn it

The film is going to end its run with about $400 million worldwide. Merchandise and DVD sales will bring in enough of a profit. Yeesh, Alan Horn himself says that he believes they've successfully reinvigorated the Superman franchise and the doubters still doubt.

Give up. Alan Horn wants a sequel. Legendary wants a sequel. Bryan Singer wants a sequel.

It's gonna happen.

Yeah, a sequel will happen and as long as Singer is behind it, it'll be sure to suck. Get ready for another lame love angle.

The movie should have been called Clark and Lois Return.

Singer is not capable of handling Superman...end game...and end of story for him.

If he comes back with a good movie than...well...he will be forgiven. However, for all his ****! He prodcuced/directed/made a bad Superman movie. He betta come back with a good one, or else he's a ****ing loser.

400 mil will be a big loss for SR it needs at least 500 million to break even why do you think 400 mil is enough on a 206 mil movie with 50+ mil in advertising with studios only getting half of USA BO take and about 20-30% of Overseas BO take that math just doesn't add up sorry....
Keep telling yorself assuradly and maybe DVD sales will push it close enough to that 500 mil mark for them to commit resources to a sequel but I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you.

Just FYI also all these people you mentioned who want a sequel want one thing way way more because that is the reason they make movies they all want MONEY.

You're not saying anything anyone else hasn't said. Alan Horn himself said the film should have made at least a hundred million more. But he also said that he feels the franchise has been successfully reinvigorated and that they're looking for the sequel to come out in 2009.

But go ahead. Keep doubting despite what the head of Warner Brothers said.

What people don't realize yet or maybe some do is that you're right. It's game over for superman as we know him. This is a new game.

It's Jason's story now. Yes superman's in it, but really the bottom line is that we will get a story in some form, some way about Jason and his own little conflict about his true parentage. It will happen in SR2, if there is one. Superman's story, his adventures are done. This is Jason's time.

i recognized that'd be the case since he was announced as the piano chucker back in moriarty's review. Yes oh it was so touching and sweet and nice, what a cute kid, but look to the future for Jason and what we'll be getting and you'll understand what I'm saying. Superman Returns, Or the Notebook: men in tights, as I like to call it, has really added something that will become a very significant part of superman's movie story. Are we ready for that?l

Movies that can't display good dialogue without using profanities really turn me off, same with posts on this board. Come on. You make good points without that garbage.

Seriously do you think they will make a sequel if the movie does not even break even knowing sequel's do not make as much most times as the movie they are sequel to????
Alan Horn can blow hot air about a sequel all he wants and you can believe him, Me I will wait to believe they are going to make a sequel when they actually commit money and resources towards it.
Until then you are taking a bunch of greedy money hungering SOB's at there word me I choose not to trust that type of person and everyone you listed falls into the money grubbing SOB type I mentioned as none of them care about anything but money.
If you believe they care about anything but money I feel sorry for you because thats what makes hollywood go round and round especially if you are talking about studio heads they most times do not even care if a movie is good or bad as long as it makes them money.

You can be just as wrong as Freddy K, so we will have to wait and see.

Well I just do not trust any studio people in general when they say things because more often than not they are spitting out hot air but yes I know I may be wrong and they may actually make a sequel even if SR doesn't show a profit.
Heck the DVD sales could put it well over 500 mil who knows....
We will have to wait and see I choose to remaim skeptical until i hear actual resources have been committed towards a sequel though.

I hear ya man. No problem with having that viewpoint.

Sure. In my opinion, the inclusion of a son is great for me because it finally places Superman in a linear existence that could show his son grow to maturity and maybe one day take over the mantle of his father. Plus, Jason will be able to whip every kid's a** in school. I can't wait to see a bully pick on him. When that happens...it's piano time.

The sequel wont be out until 2009, of course they havent put money into it yet, production wont start until some time late '07 or early '08 and in the mean time Singer will be doing another movie so we have a while until they NEED to put any money and resources into it.
