Superman Returns WB, Singer, and the Sequel

Somehow this forgot to be added into that page from the article:

Horn declined to divulge figures, but a person familiar with the studio's internal projections said Warner's cut of the "Superman Returns" profit was expected to be $50 million to $60 million. The film cost $209 million to produce and more than $100 million to market worldwide.

So the rosey outlook isn't so rosey.

This means that the 'cut' was 120 Million or so......Legend gets the other half. So, it will hit over 100 Million in profit according to this source.

I believe Horn was hoping for at least close to 100 Million in cut for WB. But what's the WB gonna do? Throw the 50-60 Million they will profit away?

Well, you've already got Alan Horn publically calling for more action in the sequel 3 years before it comes out and SR is still in theatres....they realize that was the major complaint for the awful, horrible, unwatchable, despicable, stomach turning Superman Returns.

At least you guys will get more action right? :)

Depends on who's doing the action. Bring on Doomsday!:)

I personally don't care if Singer comes back or not...I just want another good film. I enjoyed SR. :supes:

Some **** blowing up as someone gets thrown through a building would be pretty cool though.

I don't really care either as long as Jason Returns. I enjoyed him, the rest was a waste.

It makes you wonder if Legendary will see eye-to-eye on if Singer is rehired. Legendary took a lot of hits this summer and they are new company. They are responsible for half the budget. Do you think they will run the same risk of another Singer Superman film? Would that be a sound investment? Could you imagine what will happen to the budget and film if they pulled out?

I find amusing that nobody has even responded to this yet. It's NOT only WB who make the movie, guys... Legendary Pictures put 50% of the budget. If the benefits are not enough for them (they have a 50-50 deal with WB, so that means 50% of WB's profit goes to them... and WB's profit doesn't seem to be that much) they will pull out and force WB to look for another 50-50 partner or finance the movie themselves... with all the risk that has.

Hehehe, now where are all the people who said I was in denial when I said the movie was going to be profitable for the studio and they were likely to make a sequel with Singer?

But of course the usual will happen... the same group of fanboys will spend the next three years bitsching and moaning about how much Singer sucks and WB sucks and in the end they will pay the eight bucks and see the movie which makes their years of bitsching and moaning completely pointless from WB´s POV.
So true.

Wrong movie... and you somehow managed to become a mod on a movie/comics/other stuff forum website thingy, huh...

No, jason will return wearing blue tights.

Here's an illustration I quickly threw together of a possible sequel poster:

Really?!?!?!?!?!

This 6 year old kid who costarred in this 2006 movie isn't the same guy from the 1970's movie?!?!?!?!?!

I am sooooo glad I have you to clear that up for me....how will I ever be able to thank you enough?

That's what the people want.

Haha I know I only quoted that due to tonights Stargate SG1 Episode

Teal'c - Why must everything inevitably explode

Martin - Because more explosions make great Trailers & great Trailers gain more interest. Its a simple fact

This is an actual quote from tonights Stargate SG1

Don't be fooled by WB. They say more action, but what they mean is more wigs. Yes, maybe even an afro wig.

No, seriously. I think they're going to take superman into a more Matrix realm in the next one. Drop Singer, tell him it was fun while it lasted, and show him the door, then go all wrath of Keanu on it. I mean superman REALLY doing his superman thing vs:

New Krypton (otisberg) is falling back towards earth and superman has to use a led suit to stop it from hitting earth. Problem solved.

Doomsday is born from the mini-otisberg in lex's basement and rampages everywhere and kills superman, but Jason chucks Doomsday into space.

Superman must defeat the evil Brainiac computer virus/kryptonian super destructo machine that creates robots that superman and his son must fight...

the possibilities are endless. Let's get dirty and do some of this stuff for once instead of the next big land grab. If lex and his stupid bimbo sidekick come back and want to sell some goddam land again, I'm going to run up to the projector and kick it over.

yes...though Months ago i would have said you were crazy, but now, yeah seems like it will.

get a hold of a director who can do an action movie?? One who's initials arent "BS" perhaps?

ROTFLMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D :D :D :D :D

WB will get sequel ideas from the other successful movies this summer. IN the SR sequel, Superman will help a band of Pirates take on an evil fashinista and save a crashing plane full of exotic snakes  This way Singer and Co dont have to come up with anything original

are you saying TF will be bad

I like how the head guy made it seem like it was just the lack of action that dulled this movie. (not the crappy plot, dialogue, or gross misrepresentation of the character.)

Bring on a Bruce Timm/ Paul Dini reboot script (going light on the origins) with an 'action' director.

great action would have made it what its suppossed to be..............

a popcorn movie(i hate the term but its the only way:( )...not an oscar nominee(especially with ****ty dialog)

no, only that a before SR came out, I'd have said that :supes: would own tranformers, but having seen the film and knowing its current earnings, it'll probably end up being the other way around.
