Superman Returns WB, Singer, and the Sequel

I just hope this sequel isn't a rehash of SII...

Time will tell. If singer thinks he truly did nothing wrong in crafting this little masterpiece of his, then he'll probably find no reason not to copy superman 2 and add a dash of wrath of khan, like he did to x2 which I realize mirrors Khan a bit. It's not even whether he wants to keep rehashing the donner movies. It's about what he's doing to superman by making him so stupid and dark today. He said in that documentary that superman wasn't about angst, but fighting for justice, truth and all that american stuff. Is he taking superman away from that, is my worry.

He shouldn't be so love-sick in the next movie, thank goodness. I just hope singer reads up on superman a little more and doesn't have him throw kryptonite into space and have pieces of it inside him and such. Set it straight this time. Axe Kitty, forget the salesman Lex, Richard who?, and have superman be with Lois raising Jason and teaching him how to fly... actually, I can't really figure out how to set it straight anymore.

It`s one thing if Warner Brothers says one thing(Heck Warner could not even make up their minds in the whole Ratner-Abrams fiasco!). It`s something else when the boards of directors and AOL speak up. The Warner guy has to save face, but it`s not even sure he himself will be there by 2009! So we won`t be sure until they start shooting and the real power guys have made their decisions.

i wouldn't even have mind if Zod was the villain.......if done properly and if the directors and writers used their creative noggins.....i'm sure they could have come up with a Zod that is entirely different from the Zod in the Original movies.......

i mean.....they're going to use Joker again in the next Batman movie......well we've already seen Joker in Batman 89........

but.....it looks like they are going to do Joker entirely different than the one in Batman 89.......they could've done the same with Zod........

Yeah unfortunately these situations aren't that comparable. Joker's a new joker. If zod returns it'll be a new actor for sure, but the similar if not the same zod from last time. Kneel!!!!

I don't know if some of the Dosv or whoever realize what that means if singer goes with zod. This is no joke. It'll mean that superman will have faced Luthor a fifth time, Zod a second, and the rest of his rogues not once in his entire 6 film career. Fascinating.

This is mindboggling! A movie falls $100 million below expectations and you are pleased?! I don't get that! And how is Fox the loser in this when Xmen beat SR in the b.o? Long term, Superman is no guarantee becuase of the way Singer introduced a son which isn't even in the comics and he continues to rehash the Donner films. Fox only wanted a trilogy of Xmen and got it. I don't see how the sequel can possibly be better in the b.o. with more action. Singer basically destroyed the "big blue boy scout" by making him a stalker antichrist. we'll see if the WB sings this tune if Spidey 3 makes $500 million next year.

So the rosey outlook isn't so rosey.

At this point in time, Warner and Singer will understandably be doing 'spin' and 'damage control' and 'saving face' and defending their commercial decisions, as would any company. They will not admit anything negative about their work - there can be no failures in Hollywood. I had hoped Singer might address some fan concerns, even if still supporting his vision, but he obviously feels he cannot do this as it is tantamount to acknowledging that he caused disappointment.

Time will tell if there is indeed a sequel and if it is indeed a Singer production. There might be, there might not. It does seem logical for him to continue the story he started, but the sequel needs to be much more focused. He had far too much say in the finished product, without any external influence to make sure he kept it on track.

SR didn't lack action, it lacked the right kind of action. It needed people vs people action, not Superman vs objects.

This is the same "everything is honky dory" schpiel that Robinov just gave.

Horn says he's "hoping" for a sequel which means he's also hoping this thing clears $400 million WW which isnt exactly a sure bet at this point. If this thing does somehow go ahead for 2009, I'd hope Singer doesnt come back, and if he does I'd love to see what kind of restrictions he has on him

Well, you've already got Alan Horn publically calling for more action in the sequel 3 years before it comes out and SR is still in theatres....they realize that was the major complaint for the awful, horrible, unwatchable, despicable, stomach turning Superman Returns.

At least you guys will get more action right?
