Superman Returns WB, Singer, and the Sequel

no, only that a before SR came out, I'd have said that :supes: would own tranformers, but having seen the film and knowing its current earnings, it'll probably end up being the other way around.
are you saying saying it will be better b.o wise....or quality wise?

Both most likely. I can't see Bay doing anything but excellent with Giant robots and Peter Cullen in his movie. The pimp truck and that shia Laboof guy scared me, but it's cool now that he's got Optimus Prime voicing Optimus Prime.

I'm absolutely thrilled that Singer's back. Couldn't be happier. It means I'll get another Superman movie that I'll enjoy and another glimpse into Singer's wonderful vision of a character with an appallingly unappreciative fanbase.

Can't wait!!!!!

What I really can't wait for is this:

If the people on these boards are so appalled by Superman Returns, so disgusted by its apparent self-obvious bad plot, acting, and execution which has gotten it a stable and hearty 78% rating on RottenTomatoes.com, and the praise of some of the most critical critics -- if these "fans" are so disgusted, that means they'll have no problem whatsoever not seeing Superman Returns's sequel....which means, that, by standards of just being logic and educated, means that they cannot come onto these boards and spread their negativity since to do so, would make them uneducated screwballs since they would not have seen the movie. That is, unless they see the film -- which in that case, they're just hypocrites.

bose....why are you still trying to stir up an argument?

I'm looking forward to The Dark Knight and Superman Forever, bos.

It used to be 86%... seems that people didn't like it enough for it to go down 8%.

C. Lee, people come on here and espouse that Singer is a horrilbe director, that SR has horrible direction, poor plotting, etc. and do so without a lick of evidence. They bash the movie, not just critique it, they unneccessarily bash it over and over and over and over and over again, pushing to extremes like rape to make their points.

Then, you, along with SHH, expect people who enjoyed this movie to just sit tight, smile, and take it...? Please. I'm not stirring up an argument. I'm simply being a bit more blatant, not hiding behind repeative statemenst of a alleged "majority" that by no statistic really exists, and passive agressively making comments that on some levels, are just plain offensive. I just come right out and say it and "I'm stiring up an argument..."

So basically, stirring up an argument is simply taking issue with the incessant badgering of this movie and the total lack of reason facing anyone who wishes to say something positive.

Everyone's bashing that Singer's coming back. I'm happy he is, yet against the backdrop, I look like I'm stirring up an argument? Please, C. Lee...you think I'm stupid?

Next time, I'll just jump on the bandwagon, smile, agree with everyone else, and save you from having to do your job and moderate.

dont take it the wrong way C. Lee... he's just tired of seeing so much negativity towards his movie, and I can totally understand the frustration he's going through.

...okay, go through those 8 percent and find the one's making passive homophobic jokes and taking potshots on gay people. Exclude those as illegiamate bigots...and you'll go back.

How can he moderate negative opinions & people saying they are not happy that Singer will be back ? Do you want the mods to set up a time or every other day one negative day the other positive day etc ?

Even though SR sucked like worse than one of those bad episodes of Lois and Clark, I'm still looking forward to Superman Forever. It'll have more action and be Wrath of khan-ish.

Way to refute.
you can take my post there... Mine was in no way making fun of sexual preferences whatsoever, but it was still a negative review.

Weren't you happy when X3 was getting positive reviews? Getting excited I remember. Yet, now critics mean nothing?

Chris, I respect you and all, but come on...be consitent. There are objective standards to the art of cinema, and those who assess films against do have more educated -- or academic -- opinions on movies.

Relegating all reviews of this movie to the same level is a dangerous precedent to set, especially in the future. Because, then, regardless of the alleged majority of fans disliking it, I can say Superman Returns is an AMAZING film beyond anyone's comprehension.

bose......take the blinders off. I tell everyone to act civil.

I don't care if someone hates or loves the movie.

I don't care if someone hates or loves Singer.

I don't care if someone hates or loves Routh.

I simply tell everyone to stop with the name calling and the arguing. You...are still calling people names. If you loved the movie and they hated it....it doesn't make you better than them or them better than you. You are simply people with differing views on the film.

I have said this same thing over and over for 2 years now....and you people still don't hear anything but your own voices screaming at your computer screen.

You told me last night to stop calling names. I have. The above post calls no one a name. I simply outline a sort of action that would make someone a hypocrite, the only "name" I call someone. As of right now, since that is a POTENTIAL that has not yet been fullfilled, no one here can technically be that POTENTIAL and thus, I've not called anyone a name.

Wroooooooooooooooooong.

Critics gave Revenge of the Sith an 82% fresh rating from every critic on earth. Obviously it tops Returns in every way.

I know. I'm not saying it was in anyway, sorry if you thought that. What I was saying is that some of those ne gative reviews that brought down SR's rating had some really harsh and tasteless gay bashes in them and to me, are not legitimate due to showing tendencaies that may render their review bias and moot.

So...saying people are "uneducated screwballs" and "hypocrites" is OK in your book?

They said....leave this one alone.

I like your style Bosef.

I don't even bother anymore. People who liked it have said so....people who dislike it will let it be known from now until...well, we don't know that. Wasting my energy isn't even worth it. (Unless someone is being over-the-top ridiculous, they make me smile)

:) :) :)

I expect them to recognize the obvious. That there are a few loud and boisterous voices on this forum that continue to daily lamblast Superman Returns with the same non-progressive nor constructive criticisms. I expect them to recognize that and then recognize the frusteration and annoyance of those people -- those who haven't already dumped this board in search for better options -- who come in here and have to wade through the same people's anti-SR posts over and over again to find some progressive conversation, negative or positive.

That's what I expect them to do. It's been two months of the same posts over and over and still, SHH rises up in shock and surprise when someone who liked the movie lashes out after having been quiet and just letting it go on, hoping that the MODs would come on and say "Enough is enough. No more rape talk, no more Singer's gay talk, no more Superman's gay talk, no more Jason's a bastard talk..." and say, stick to a cinematic discussion, not bashing life events and choices that could potentially offend individuals.

Instead, they like to treat both sides the same, when one is so obviously getting preferential treatment. Naysayers can call Singer an individual who condones Superman being a rapist -- that's a ridiculously harsh statement that anyone who respects Singer or this movie can take monumental offense to. Now, someone who does take offense says, "That's the most idiotic thing I've ever heard" and a MOD comes on and says, "Oh, stop the name calling!" Yet, the naysayer gets away with saying that Singer, and by association those who liked his Superman, are a bunch of rape apologists.

So, what would I like? MODs to start making some hard decisions considering the intelligibility of some of the posts on these boards. Something they seem either unable or unwilling to do. But be it incompetence or indirect support, it's nevertheless becoming more and move obvious. And it's the reason that, if you go to Bluetights.net, you'll find a lot of former posters on these boards over there now.

Good luck. It's hard going into a fight being all super-duper-positive. People piss all over you. It's just not worth the effort.

Just sayin.

Yep. Because I didn't call anyone here that, as you insinuated I did.

I said someone who would lamblast a movie (in this case, Superman's sequel) they have not seen is an uneducated screwball. Do you have a problem with this statement? Is a man who lectures people about Christianity, but has never read the Bible or gone to church an educated authority for theological opinion? Nope. So, in layman terms, he'd be an uneducated screwball -- a screwball in that what he's doing is silly. No different here. Blasting a movie you haven't seen is an uneducated action -- and it's screwy. Thus, screwball. But, since no one has done that here yet, we have no issue of me calling someone names.

Hypocrites, I've explained. If someone is going to take a personal offense to a director to the degree that they accuse him of condoning rape in his movies, or just lamblast his sexuality, and talk about how his vision of Superman is so poor, yet GOES AND SEES his Superman film sequel, turns over money to this man's future endeavors, if someone is to do this, they would be a hypcorite, someone who says one thing, and does another. But agian, since no one on these boards have DONE THIS, I haven't called anyone here names.

It's that simple. The sequel is not out so by neccessity no one can be that which I'm calling someone who reacts to the sequel as being...I'm simply getting a head start, a sort of advantage that at the very least can be respect considering the cataracted blind eye that is given to naysayers...
