Superman Returns WB, Singer, and the Sequel

As said you can have your opinion. But nothing is one sided. There is never something completely positive (BT) and something completely negative (SHH) as some posters may want to lead you to believe.

"Lol- definite spin, once out for a while they will bury it- good riddens Singer! The movie bombed." <- Anti. "Yippie the sequel is coming, Singer and everyone will be back. The movie did great." <- Pro.

The truth, somewhere in the middle. The truth is always somewhere in the middle.

Because BOTH sides- anti and pro- are wrong. Yes, anti are wrong. But, as I said- so is Pro. Because BOTH are bias. BOTH are wrong. The truth is somewhere in the middle of both povs.

Maybe, though I think WB's crazy enough to go along with this superman story next time with a lower budget and continue using the old movies as a crutch but this time promising more boom, bam, pow, action instead of doing a Superman Begins type of movie. I think they've done it before with batman forever. Who knows. All I care about is what's best for Superman. And singer isn't it. He's only really seen donner's movie and george reeve superman apparently and maybe some don't care to see anything superman beyond donner and reeve and a few covers, but I do. I want superman to get what batman got from Nolan. It's time to move on, you know?

You know I almost have to see SR now. It would be funny if a actually liked the film, that wouldn't change my opinion of it's boxoffice, but it would be funny.

That would be funny, but I don't think you'd like it....

Personally always wanted Spielburg- but, that probably would never work out. I think Singer is a great director, but just needs to let go of the past and get more involved with the comics themselves. Note- Nolan doesn't know Batman, he only knows the tone of Batman, that's why he brought Goyer onboard as the writer. But, I get what you're saying. I liked Superman Returns and want to see Singer return. Because other than Spielburg, I definitely only see a down. I mean- imagine a Michael Bay type Supes movie. Yikes!!! That would be a nightmare. So, I think Singer is a great director- just needs to move on from the past and go forward with his own ideas. Hopefully this is what will happen.

I gave an alternative explanation.
no.

The way you wrote that....are you questioning the ethics of "mind wiping" in general...or the "mind wiping" of women?
both....

Yes...interesting film. One of the main precepts was that the "mind wiping" of people without thier autorization by alien races wasn't morally or ethicly right, and very traumatic upon the people it was done to.
underatted movie if you ask me:( ...... i think the whole point was that the aliens theory was right...(that hole invisible tissue thing)...then again she still had that pregancy memory..........which he shouldnt wiped.

I SEE SPIDEY depends on what you like in a film. I see lots of films- so, I'm someone that loved 'Snakes on a Plane' but also someone who loves independant films as well. So, just depends on what you like.

The movie doesn't have that much action, if action at all. One of my faults with the film that I hope is fixed next time around- but not action overboard fixed, if you catch my drift. It has great drama and good comedy. Kind of hard to describe. Personally thought it was good. Reminded me of a Spider-Man film, but with Superman and less action.

Who knows? I might like it, like I liked X2 (7.5/10) or X1. (6.5/10) You know entertaining but leaving alot to be desired.

That's why we are allowed to have different opinions. If they said that Kryptonian science from the Fortress crystals made it possible for thier DNA to mix....no problem for me. But that hasn't been said yet...so it's still up in the air to me.

My opinion is right though. :o :)

It is reasonable to think, now anyway, that the boy is superman's kin and will become his sidekick someday using what evidence was currently have in the movie.

-throwing a piano
*this is just impossible for any average 6 yearold
-sudden healing factor
*another example of him manifesting superpower. It seems to cure him of his millions of diseases.
-Superman's speech
*Why else would he tell superkid all that stuff he learned from his dad?

I just owned C. lee.

I love all type of films too and I give almost anything a chance, I especially love Superhero movies so I'm sure I'll find some enjoyment out of the flick regardless if I love, like, think it's okay or hate it.

I don't honestly see any way they could suddenly say the kid isn't Superman's

SR's was nothing like Spider-man! For one SM was entertaining....

Btw, why are we all supposing that Kryptonian sperm works the same way the the human one? Maybe the rays that turned Clark into a "normal" man, put his sperms in a dormant state. They were in Lois' uterus inactive for Superman III and IV, then waited for Superman to leave Earth and for Lois to start dating Richard. Then one day while the new couple was at the beach getting a tan, the solar rays reactivated the dormant sperms...

Yeah, leaves stuff to be desired. But, first films typically have their faults fixed in the second film. My only fault was that it didn't have enough action. For example, I would have loved the train set to be the action- by that I mean, recreate that but in real life surroundings. Now that would be cool.

Another way to put it, don't know if you saw it- Singer mentioned it- it's similar to Casablanca, but with action and a superhero. So, Casablanca meets Superman with action- but not as much action as the SM films.

And for one- YOU fangrl didn't find it entertaining. I did. Once again (goes for everybody), opinion is not fact- it's just an opinion and nothing more. Everybody has their own differing opinions. I really find it funny when others critique the opinion of another poster just because they disagree in a way to say "you're wrong, I'm right." I just find that funny. Anyways, end rant.

it reminded me of Must see tv sitcoms, not the good ones though.

I hate that double standard. For superman it's "oh it's the first try (after singer's had two xmen films? lolll?)

But Ang Lee's real first try, "the hulk' gets immediately called crap and thrown in people's garbage bins. Nobody says he'll do better next time. Why's it different for superman?

In my opinion:

There are MANY difference between X-Men and Superman, not at all alike.

X-Men is a group of heroes in a realistic world with the center being predjudices.

Superman is a movie about one hero in a mythological fantasy world with the centering being Superman (and all the aspects of Superman) and the characters around him.

I can see what you're saying. But, to me that's like comparing apples to oranges. Because yes, both are superhero films- but, that's more or less the only thing both 'worlds' have in common.

X2 was better than X1, similarly to how SM2 is better than SM1, etc., etc. Finding faults in the first and fixing it for the second.

Yes, Singer has directed X-Men films. But, this is his first time with a Superman film. Take that for what you will.

Oh an um- btw, since when did I throw crap at Ang Lee? Don't know if you're generalizing or not. If given a second go, I'm betting Ang Lee would have seen where he went wrong and fixed it while further improving what he got right. And yes \/ same goes for Tim Story as well- first F4, it was good and had some faults- which I think will be fixed for the sequel. I apply this to ALL first films and their respective directors. To me, first films in a trilogy, are a "test"- find the faults, find the strengths; improve upon the strengths, fix the flaws. And alot of the time- this is what happens.

Yup, the SM1, SM2 and X1, X2 examples are very spot on. Same thing will probably happen with Nolan's DK, and Singer's MOS.......Yes that's the name I want for the sequel, and hopefully Singer will return.

You know what? I'm not ashamed to say it I liked Fantasic Four! It's not the greatest movie ever or the greatest comicbook movie but it was fun. Hopefuly the director can make a better and still fun movie the second time around. One things forsure though, the sequel sounds damn cool.

Funny, isn't that what you're doing? First of all I said "to me" and second, it is a fact that SM had more action. That's not what made it so horrible anyway. The audience in my theater was laughing at parts of the movie that weren't even supposed to be funny...enough said.

I thought it was one of those movies that was fun once and then you never wanted to see it again...

Yeah, I liked F4 as well. I don't know why that many people didn't like it- or at least seems that way. It was a fun movie and had the same tone as the comic books- or at least the ones that I've read.

Over at BT, I actually defend F4. Because imo, it is going to be better and do better at box office than the last film- if anyone wants I can give you my thoughts on why this will be.

Can't wait to see Silver Surfer, Galactus, and Fantasticar.
