Weekend jobs...any ideas?

Are you a peoples person? Work behind a bar.

Don't you need training to be a bartender?

It isn't that hard, depending on what sort of bar. If it's a pub then you can bounce between serving food and drinks.

Get a tan and sell oranges by the road.

I DJ weddings on the weekend, that's a pretty sweet deal. You get fed, you get to play music, and you get to see hundreds of people out to see a couple on the happiest day of their lives.

Plus it's easy, if you know your music.

What are your skillz, yo?

You could do something from home, like writing the odd article for a local paper... or there are companies that pay people to be mystery shoppers (pretending to be a customer of wherever and grading the service you receive).

Psh. Good luck, I can't even get employed as a hooker right now.

Well I'm a good writer, and the man who owns the City Paper (which is the 'hip' newspaper) lives down the street, so I've thought of talking to him about possible freelance work. I know a lot about politics, I'm athletic, and I have an a**load of office and manufacturing experience.

Well talk to him. It won't cost you anything and if you do not try there is no chance you will get anything.

Yeah, planning to. I probably need a portfolio, or at least will be asked for one later, so I've been going through my computer trying to find things that would be appropriate. I may write something new as well, ya'know, just to have something topical.

Write a piece on the Mumbai Attacks and Bangcock insurrection and their impact on tourism. How it will be an industry deeply affected especially during the coming winter season.

People arent being serious with their answers but yeah most department stores may hire for a few hours here and there, but try to get into some manual labor some construction. Easy money, and someone ALWAYS neeeds stuff lifted and unpacked, so stock is the way to go

How good are you at typing? You could always offer to work weekends at the local doctor's or dentist's office. Do you have a good phone voice, are you physically fit? Offer to work weekends at the local gym as "receptionist".

Get the wanted ads out and see what's available and if it would suit you.

I once heard about somebody who made a living by going to storage facilities, buying people's stuff when they didn't pay their bills (most storage facilities will auction off your stuff for cheap if you don't pay them), and selling that stuff on eBay for more money.

That's horrible. :csad:

The idea of working at a gym sounds good, especially since you say you are in good shape.

To expand on that idea you could teach a community class at weekends. You might need to get a qualification for some things but think of a skill or hobby you have and think whether you are good enough at it to teach it. A fitness class is easy you just need to be able to choreograph a good work out routine. You could also do creative writing etc. Or you could take a short course to get a TEFL qualification (not sure if it's called the same thing in America, but basically 'teaching English as a foreign language') and offer private tutoring or find out about teaching a class.

To be honest, i would find out what you are good at and maximise that as a skill

why don't you do personal training on the weekend, you like to keep fit and i'm sure there are plenty of people who could take you up on keeping them on a regime where you meet up and train with them at a gym or at their home and keep a weekly schedule to make sure they are hitting their targets

with the xmas/new year's fatty market at its peak and the credit crunch stopping some people from doing a proper gym membership, you could rake up a small fortune.
