Weird is the new normal.....so sad

i dont think it takes a rocket scientist to see how none of this stuff is really normal. and curseing has also become pretty "normal". thats screwed up.

really, doesnt anyone on these boards have any sense of morals or decency enough to see how sh**ty things have gotten? wierd IS the new normal, and its sad to see.
Things have always been this way. It's only because of the internet you have been exposed to more of the world you've never seen before.

I defenitely see what you mean. I dress normal and to be honest, I think Rap and punk clothing sucks beyond belief.
Those are not my style either but they sometimes make me giggle.

It's not just the internet that has given the threadmaker this... exposure, but all kinds of mass media. But you are right, things have always been this way and that is the norm. It's a cycle.

I'm going to laugh so hard at how people who dress with their pants under their ass will dress when they are 80 years old. It sickens me, but oh well.

I've seen a 60-something-year-old man wearing this baseball cap sideways and baggy pants. What a sight!! Haha!

Lol! In all seriousness though, some part of me laughs at it, but part of me cringes at it as well.

i hate the extremly passive idiots on this board, that whole idea of "anything goes" is ******ed. accepting ppl as freaks and idiots and lowering my standards is not how i want to live MY life, and i dont think anyone should either. ppl lowering there standards is how we got into this friggin mess. i think i may be offending ppl on this board because, you ARE what i am putting down. well, sorry if i did, but thats how i feel, and i had to state it. but its the truth. terrorists think they are doing was is morally right by blowing ppl up who dont believe what they believe. but duh, we all know that is wrong and idiotic. but im sure everyone can agree with my points. im not saying to live like puritans (obviously that is impossible in a society this brainwashed and corrupt) but at least have some level of decency. instead, i get from this thread what i expected all along, "boooo you got no right to tell US what normal is! we, the freaks, ARE normal!" uh, yeah, right, ahem, whatever you say, FREAKS. your not normal, your making this society as bad as it is. truth is, you all know what decency is. you just dont LIKE it. sad.

sad but true, if i do say so myself. i walk around and i see no "normal" looking ppl anymore. noone seems to dress normally or even behave normally. only ppl i see that i would consider "normal" are like older ppl who are like nearing retirment age who have manners and dont look strange, but sometimes even THAT isnt true. ive seen older ladies dressing like 20 year olds, ugh! i mean, the whole "emo" punk thing has taken over, and the "rap/hip hop" style as well. todays youth is so lost its not even funny, like noone bothers to tell them that they look like freaks of nature, and if you do, they will probably like that :wow:. personally, i consider myself to be more on the normal side. sure i got my own wierdnesses like everyone else, like the fact i talk on SSH lol, but i guess its more private and i dont announce it to the world like kids these days like to. but when i go out of the house, i try to be you know, kind courteous polite, i dont dress like...weird or anything. like i dont dress like an emo, or wear pants that hang off my ass or anything or do the weird backwards baseball cap thing which i see alot and it looks soooo corny. i dress....like, normal. least i would think so. and the whole shaved head/crew cut thing, when did THAT start to look good? it makes guys look like neo nazi's or aliens, depeneding on the shape of there head. i thought the whole cheesy eminem/****** thing ended years ago. apparantly not.

anyway, i know i sound like an old man, but i guess im just old fashioned and i dont like the style or things i see young ppl doing today. girls are allowed to get away with wearing super shorts skirts and wearing practically nothing. years ago, that was not accepted at all, it was looked down upon and ppl thought that m,aybe you were a protitute or something. even older women going after young guys is starting to be considered normal, its not! anyway, this society seems to have gone to crap and its just soo sad and WEIRD!

Right now I have purple hair, and dress somewhat "punk", though not in the present popular style of punk/emo whatever. Plus I have many visable tattoos. So I guess that makes me a "feak".

I'm just happy that it's not like it was 15 years ago, when my "freakish" style used to net me constant harassment and physical intimidation.

Personally, I'm glad society has gotten somewhat more accepting of unique personal style. Too bad there's still idiots out there like you that think that your sense of style is somehow more superior to others. It's fine to not like a certain style of dress, even to make fun of it, laugh at it, whatever. To expect everyone to follow your thoughts on the matter is ridiculous.

Be happy of who you are and don't be bothered too much by what others think. As long as you're not hurting yourself or others, how you dress should not be an issue to anyone. For those who don't like seeing what you're wearing, an easy option for them is to just look away.

The OP is one of the many reasons I love having visible tattoos. He's so busy being disgusted with the way I look that I never have to deal with his ignorance because he'll never come near me.

I think I might have been misunderstood. I wasn't saying that I ever didn't do what I wanted. I really couldn't care less what anyone thinks of me nor have I for several years. Basically what I was trying to say was it's nice not to have a large majority of people want to kick your ass just because of how you dress, much like I endured 15 years ago. Even still, it never deterred me for being who I was.

A lot of the punk/freak kids these days don't really understand how it was 15-20 years ago (or more). People didn't just make fun of you, or talk down to you like the OP. Confrontations about how you dress many times ended up in fights/getting jumped simply because of what you chose to wear.

I understood what you're saying. My reply to your post was... generally speaking and not directed specifically towards you but to those who are going through the same type of "persecution" like you did back then. It's not easy being seen as "different" but as long as you know who you are and that what you're doing isn't hurting yourself or others, just keep doing what you're doing and be happy. It's your life.

Which means clearly every moment of it has to be dictated by someone who has no idea who he actually is.

Who gets to define what "decency" is? You? Who gets to define what "normal" is? Let me guess...you? What a sad little box of small-minded angst you've encased yourself in. How horrible that society doesn't just conform to your idea of what it should be. How dare people be individuals with free will? It's downright indecent of them to want to live their own lives the way they want to instead of how YOU want them to. It's not normal. What a bunch of FREAKS! Get a grip. YOU are the odd man out, in case you weren't looking (and I know you weren't). ;)

Yeah me and my my friends are the only "normal" kids in school. Just about everyone else is either some wannabe eminem or some Marilyn Manson lookalike but to be honest I don't really care.

I like telling people what to do and how to live their life. :csad:

jag, why must you ask questions you already know the answer to? Also, haven't you heard that obiwan is the authority on morality and what's normal and decent? You go against his standards, you go to hell, bub. Be careful how you live your life.

obiwan is freakin' ignorant. IMO you could dress and act how you want as long as your not deliberately trying to hurt/kill/offend someone.

obiwan needs to read some history books. Emo, Goth, Grunge, Punk, Rock and Roll, Rap all thinks at one point or another considered dangerous to modern society. Fashion trends come ago. Even the 60s had mini skirts doesn't mean wome that wore them had a lack of morals.

Up until the 20th century it was normal in most cultures to marry girls before they where even 18. That isn't morally right in most countries today but thats what was normal then. Thinks change so I don't see how an older women dating a younger man is weird considering the kinds of stuff that happened in your so called moral right past.

Individuality is what makes human beings intresting and creative.

"normal" is like most of our perceptions of things. its all relative.
if you feel that you have outgrown society's need to reinvent yourself then congrats, you have taken a big step towards growing up.
Personally I say **** it, do what you like, be who you want to be and let the rest of the world stare, or ignore. it makes very little difference to me
