ok- for some reason neither of the phones in my apt. seem to be working.
-when you pick either one up you get an amplified roomtown sound- as if one of hte two were off the hook.
-But... if i unplug either entirely from the walljack i still get the same sound.
-If someone calls from an outside line it goes straight to the digital voice mailbox.
-The bill is all paid up. And we still have serivce, otherwise i wouldn't be able to get online right now.

I can't figure out what's going on, and trying to get Verizon's automated robot voice-help to understand me from my scratchy cellphone connection is ...not....working out too well.

anyone have any ideas?

Got a friends phone to borrow and hook up? If that doesn't work either, I'd say you need a repairman.

i don't..at least not at the moment- but i can't believe both of my phones would spazz out simultaneously.

Yeah, that is weird.

But apparently, you already knew that.

It's more than likely a problem with your line. Hopefullly, it's a problem outside your residence, that way the phone company won't charge you. However, if it is inside, they will charge you. You may want take off your phone jack cover plates and see if all the wires are attached to the intended posts.

It could be one jack being messed up causing this, if it's the first one that comes into your house. Either way, call your phone company and have them run a test. They should be able to tell you if it's inside or outside.

Faulty jacks is my guess. If you're still getting a modem signal, maybe your comp is hogging the line....? Could be an internal problem there... but if your computer is off and unplugged, (phone cables seperated from the modem) and you're still getting problems, it's the jacks. Try the jack where your computer is plugged into. Maybe the others blew, or something.

Regardless, sounds like you're gonna be needing a tech to come out and fix the problem. And if you play your cards right, you may even get to seduce him.

hmmn.

just took the phone out of the wall -plugged it into the modem jack. it worked. then i plugged it back into the old wall jack- it worked. the other phone works too.

Not sure what happened. the guy inthe appt. below has been doing a LOT of work on his place- heavy labor- eletrical work. Maybe he accidentally clipped a wire yesterday, realized it last night, and repaired it?

Whatever the cause- thanks for the advice, everyone:up:

Now we can cancel the service call for tomorrow.
(it just better not spazz out again:o)

You should still seduce the phone repair man though. You never know.

You should totally marry her, and then the next day be all like 'gotchya' and reveal the Minister to being a male pornstar. And then jump out the window with your arms waved in the air like someone who figured out how to remove that white coat they give you in mental hospitals.

the 'minister' is my uncle, *****e:o

And I'm wearing the white coat in the ceremony.

just as an update- the phone wound up getting fixed spontaneously, then breaking then working then not working for about 75% of the past week, then it got drunk and married a 7 foot tall ****e in Vegas, and now it's out of work, fat, and watching Knight Rider reruns from old Betamax tapes.

I have a repairman showing up on Sunday (who knew Verizon made housecalls on sundays?). I don't want to stay home on a nice Sunday, so if anyone feels they can impersonate me, and are free this Sunday, let me know.

hey, so how close is that comic-strip thing to your real life? (your homepage)

Minus the colour of the prostetic and the facial hair [I'm the only male in my family who refuses to keep a moustache], it's exact. I even have an orange shirt that I wear a lot.

wait- so your friend really got arrested for walking down the street like he was in a car? and he owns a delorian!?

you have a cool life:csad:

Oh, I thought you meant likeness.
