Well, it's now official. Canada is on its way out of being a nation.

Which country doesn't have self destructive tendencies??? Every country I can think of has at least 1. The leaders of most countries aren't looking at the big picture, they only look out for what they want.

I find it ironic that you criticize Americans for not being patriotic enough, yet you have no patriotic pride as a Canadian.

hypocrisy Is Jonty's bread and butter.

We don't have just one, we've got dozens.

Why would I be patriotic about a country with so many self-destructive tendencies?

I'm not a masochist like yourself.

One argue that Bush's policies of ill planned wars, sweeping government powers and huge debts are self destructive, but a true American patriot wouldn't use that as an excuse to just give up on the USA. A patriot can love his country and dislike his government.

You criticize Americans for not being patriotic, yet you are not willing to be patriotic yourself, what basis do you have to criticize anyone about their patriotism from now on?

So do most other countries. Which country do you honestly think is better than Canada and why?

America? - their health system stinks to high heaven, their politics are ruled by who has the most money, they practically encourage everyone to arm themselves, they create lawsuits for the most ridiculous things, drugs have to be passed through the federal testing system and yet they still end up having major fatal flaws....

(I don't know all the flaws of other countries, I haven't heard much about their health, education, legal and political systems. I do know that what I like about Canada is hard to find elsewhere)

I envision the Canada/Quebec Civil War to look something like this:

I'm totally with you!

The socialist policies towards health-care and post-secondary education, lower frequency of pointless litigation, and multi-party system are huge reasons why I love this country.

Is Quebec the area that's mostly French-Canadians because that's the way I want to interpret it... **Rolls Eyes at Smarmy Canadians**

It would look funny if Quebec wasn't a part of Canada and became a new state of the U.S.

Quebec should just get with the flow and stay with Canada.

^ I think Quebec would rather be a 'satellite state' for France... Viva La Cold War II!

A French Candian war would suck.

Canada would send lumberjacks with hockey sticks to invade France. France would surrender, but spend their time making smug comments. Eventually Canada would decide to let France secede much like they are doing with Quebec. ;)

Heck, Eastern Provinces English is different from anything else anywhere (and get it together with Jamaican English and you'ld hardly believe it was meant to be the same language) :oldrazz:

Not likely. Soon enough, we'll all be Americans.

... You are American you live in North America:huh:

I get mad when they only call people who live in the US americans when anyone who live in North, South or Central America is American.:cmad:

Canada doesn't have the right to keep a province if it really wants out. This is evidenced by the fact that Quebec was even allowed to have a referendum in 1995 to decide if it wanted to stay or not, not to mention that the Prime minister has given Quebec the symbolic promise of making it a nation within a nation, though that won't stay symbolic for long.

You know that the ONLY reason why Harper's doing this is because he wants the Quebecois vote for when he calls a surprise election soon after the Liberals pick their new leader next week.

:whatever: :whatever: :whatever:

I get mad at people who favour technicalities.

People from the USA are traditionally called "Americans". It's how we refer to them over here in France as a country, so I think it's okay that people from the USA call themselves "Americans." Also, because it's short from the United States of America, over the United States of America-ans, or whatever it would be.

This was an inevitable policy, regardless of government. If the Liberals had been running the country, they would hav announced it just the same.

Health care is not an issue with me. I could care less if we had a system or not.

I still think that Alberta and BC should for thier own nation....Maybe see if we can get Yukon and Alaska....Washinton and Montana.....

All we really need is Alberta, but BC would be good to so we can access the ocean.

The only thing good about Canada is that Wolverine is Canadian. :wolverine
