WGA, SAG-AFTRA Strike Thread

Because I don't want the **** that we got from the LAST strike to happen again. Remember? With several movies getting their scripts and entire productions ****ed over and the messes that resulted? The Wolfman remake, Heroes season 2's abrupt end and how the show never recovered from it, Revenge of the Fallen, Quantum of Solace, just to name a few.

Have we all forgotten?

First of all, different kind of strike, different kind of results. Second of all, no one's forgotten, just no one serious thinks a Michael Bay Transformers movie being bad is on the same level of importance as if human beings are treated with value.

Hey, Quantum of Solace is an underrated gem. Don't make me write out my extremely hot takes about it :o.

I get it, it blows, but first of all there are no signs of any of that happening - things are not playing out in quite the same way this time. Second of all, yeah obviously that sucks hard but it is so completely and utterly a secondary issue. Movies are my life in so many ways, I really do get it, but they also don't matter in this situation. My desire for The Batman, Part II and the next season of The Last Of Us is not stronger than my desire for worker's rights.

It's gonna get ratified so what's the point of this argument at this point.

JFC dude...

Then why are people on here saying they should vote no? THAT's why i keep saying we should otherwise vote yes and move on.
What does it matter what we think? Unless we are in SAG-AFTRA our opinion is pretty worthless. What we believe did not have to move with their decision.

So what? There is more to life than tv and movies.

And Heroes season 2 sucked. Hell season 1 had such a bad finale who cares anyways.

You sound like I did during the 1994 baseball strike...of course I was 14 at the time so yeah.

Heroes only had one great episode in its entire run (S1’s “Company Man”), which it never came close to living up to ever again. The strike fast-forwarding its doom was a mercy. :o

It is a little harder to track how the voting it going compared to the UAW vote, as the members are spread out more, and thus the voting is less centralized. I haven't seen anything about the vote not really going against the deal, but I also haven't been looking.

Trust the actors and their lawyers to go over the contract and make the decision that they feel is right for them. Whether or not stuff will resume to your perceived level of quality should not be a consideration. Strikes are meant to be disruptive.

Im sorry but i put your enjoyment of movies etc on the very end of the list in terms of this strike.
You may think you are the center of the universe, but your enjoyment of this stuff is absolutely unimportant compared to the people who make these movies/shows etc to be paid fair and treated good.

This thread really has devolved into ragging on every thing I say.

Let's just junk the damn thread and all of us shut it until the vote is over (YES, myself included).

And no, I'm not the center of the universe, nobody is. The hypocrisy of you people is staggering. I've seen how some of you act regarding certain movies and fandoms. You're no saints either.

It’s because you keep making things about what you want. Which is fine if we’re talking content itself. That isn’t hypocrisy. It’s just the name of the game with an entertainment discussion board. But you’re giving content larger weight than the actual humans who create it. It’s problematic and self-centered.

And then you go and suggest everyone should just stop talking about this because nobody agrees with you. Which is just incredibly childish.

You say you don’t think you’re the center of the universe. Your posts indicate the opposite.

I’d recommend not trying to police/control the conversation. If you don’t like what others are saying, just say you disagree and move on, or explain your points in a civil manner. Telling everyone to “shut it” when it doesn’t go your way will never help your case.

We are ragging on you because your comments are nonsensical and defensive. You tell us you support the strikers yet you think so little of the things they are fighting for that you would rather they just shut up and take it than fight because it gets in the way of your enjoyment.

Look we are all fanatics here, none of us deny it. I want James Gunn's Superman film to start filming as soon as possible. I want to see Joker 2 and The Batman sequel as much as anyone! But I would be willing to wait a decade if need to be to get the actors what they need to secure their future. The workers are more important than the product because without the workers there is no product.

Some project I desire is not more important than the actors being able to make movies and survive. It is not worth the threat of AI. Priorities man priorities.

Well that is good...I won't give them much credit beyond that though ;)
