Now with the announcement of the Snyder Cut What are your dream directors cuts?

Suicide Squad.

Fant4stic.

What about you?

I don't really have any dream directors cuts but hypothetically speaking:

If the rumors are true, I'd be interested in a JJ Abrams cut of The Rise of Skywalker. At the very least, deleted scenes.

And I guess the Alan Taylor cut of Thor: The Dark World and the David Ayer cut of Suicide Squad, just out of curiosity.

I want Raimi's spider-man 3 before avi "destroyer of all he touches" arad forced venom into it
Did Raimi's version even make it past a script? I thought Arad forced Venom in before filming started.

Not a "dream" director's cut but having just rewatched Predator 2 and reading trivia on IMDB I am really curious to see what was so graphic they cut it from the movie.

Event Horizon too as mentioned. Unfortunately I hear all the master copies of that content were damaged or destroyed beyond repair. :(

I will be happy with the ZS JL cut, believe me, for now, that's more than enough.

Once upon a time I would have said singer’s xmen 3 but obviously not now.

A non-Bob Iger TROS cut would be nice... but, I also don’t think a full JJ cut would be that much better, post-Tevorrow script leak.

In addition to David Ayer's cut of "Suicide Squad," which has already been mentioned...

The Predator

The entire second half of the movie (which was shot) was removed, and replaced with an attempt to pander to "complaing online fans" (with a rushed and unsatisfying hunt in the woods). We missed out on a story revolving around the Predators' planet, two Emissary Predators, a trip to Area 51, mutant hybrid Predators, a badass tank chase, Edward James Olmos as villain and more (generally speaking, an entirely different movie past the first hour).

P.S.: We should limit the conversation to alternative versions of movies which have already been shot, and not hypothetical alternate version which have already been discarded during the development and pre-production phase. In that case we would be talking about "unproduced movies," and not Director's Cuts. For example: as much as I would have liked to seen it, Sam Raimi's Venom-less "Spider-Man 3" does not exist, if not in script form and with concept art. Same with Bryan Singer's "X-Men 3." That's an unproduced movie, not a Director's Cut.

Did Lord and Miller complete enough of their Solo film for a directors cut? Would have liked to have seen their version.

I would have love to see that one, as well, but unfortunately I think they were barely mid-way through filming when Lucasfilm took them off the movie.

Event Horizon is probably my most wanted Director's Cut of all time.

Suicide Squad would be nice too. With more somber atmosphere of the first trailer.

I've always been curious about the original three hour cut of First Blood. Shame that we'll never get to see since Sly hated it so much and probably buried it in his backyard.

Ugh, don't remind me.

It's hard for a film to be good enough (or show enough potential) to hook me but bad enough to make me fixate on another cut.

'Spider-Man 3' was my grail. Though a true "director's cut" could not exist, there were a bunch of sequences cut that I hoped to see in a 3.1, or whatever. This was sort of covered in a blu ray release recently, which falls short of my dream version but is much more than I ever expected.

I'm not sure "The Predator" would be saved by a director's cut in all honesty, but the original sequences could not have been worse than the reshoots. Likewise for Fan4stic. Ooh... here's one:

The Hobbit - 2-film Edition.
I think if Peter Jackson was candid about it, the Hobbit films became a trilogy in a desperate bid for more time. The original two film plan was better thought out, and there is plenty of gold in those films that would shine in a less meandering story.

I don't think a 'Hobbit: But Less' edition would be the easiest thing to market though.

Apparently there are some fan cuts that do The Hobbit some justice in one or two films. I still think An Unexpected Journey was fine since a good majority of that was conceived when it was still supposed to be two films. It's the sequels that got a bit messy but they both still have some great aspects to them (Bilbo meeting Smaug, Richard Armitage as Thorin).

Along those lines, it goes without saying among the Star Wars fanbase that it would be awesome to see HD releases of the original unaltered trilogy. Unfortunately I'm pretty sure it was in George Lucas's contract with Disney that they can never see the light of day again.

I checked out a couple of fan edits, and they get really close but no cigar, for me at least. There's a few sequences that can't be smoothed out without greater access to the footage. The transitions between films in particular are frequently a bit rough. PJ would have alternate scenes at his disposal.

I agree with your thoughts on the films. It's quite evident watching the 3 that it started out on solid ground but the wheels fell off over the following two films. It cannot be understated just how desperate the rush was behind the scenes. The second film was a last second finish even with a large chunk of the story being moved into 3. The third film got a 6 month delay, and still there were key scenes that were only finished in time for the extended blu ray.

My need for the original original Star Wars trilogy has been covered by the many dedicated fans who have been churning out Despecialized editions and the like. I'd pick up official releases for sure, but I wont' hold out hope. I'd take a Disney Special Edition of TROS if they could make any sense of it too.

Apparently there are still a lot of cut scenes in the Lord of the Rings that didn't make their way back into the extended editions. I wouldn't mind seeing master cuts of those films.

I would much rather see Guillermo Del Toro's Hobbit.

At this point I'd settle with seeing what his Smaug was going to look like.

And before anyone posts it, the supposed concept art that's been floating around the last few years is not real.

Even just the deleted scenes would be a fun curiosity for me. I read somewhere that Peter Jackson was interested in revisiting Rings and updating the behind the scenes docs to be more in-line with the Hobbit releases, but the studio turned him down. Screw them if so, but something like this would be great streaming fodder in this age.

I would very much like to see a version of Return of the King that included the Houses of Healing scene where Aragorn heals Faramir, and the restored epilogue. We know both sequences were filmed - there's a trading card of Aragorn at the HoH with Faramir, and there was a lot of talk of what was in the epilogue before the movie came out. Also, there's an image that recently came out of Eowyn and Faramir in their wedding attire taken when that part of the epilogue was filmed.
