Civil War What are the rosters going to be?

Good topic. No Fantastic Four or X-Men it looks like. Needs to be ensemble. The more, the merrier. Wonder who else could be in it. I have concerns, if this is Robert Downey Jr's last film as Iron Man, does that mean no Iron Man in Infinity War? I checked and it looks like Cap and Iron Man are in Infinity War.

RDJ just got his contract renegotiated around the time of IM3, and it allows him to keep featuring as Tony Stark even if in a diminished capacity (he took a page from SLJ's playbook with Nick Fury). so budget and ego allowing, we could have Tony for the rest of the 3 films with the Russos.

.... its Evans that we have to worry about. theres only 2 pictures left on his contract and i havent heard of any renegotiations to extend his gig for one more picture.

Downey after iron man 3 signed new deal for avengers 2 and 3 and later signed deal for civil war.It was mentioned he got 40 million dollors for civil war and they gave him bigger role than originally planned. He will be in 1 of infinity war films.

Evans announced he is signed for both infinity war films after civil war although granted it's possible he only shows up at end of part 1 if they follow the comic ending of civil war.He has said he would be willing to return past his contract.

40 million dollars...
RDJ's great, don't get me wrong, and I know I'll get shouted down because "well then who deserves that money, the studio heads?"

but that is just a silly amount of money to show up and play pretend on camera

That's 40 million and bonuses to be in SOMEONE ELSE's movie. lol :loco: Hey Marvel is letting him write a blank check apparently, so more power to him. :whatever:

And IM3 made over a BILLION dollars, just in theatres. AOU will almost certainly do the same, and he's a major part of that film as well. So with that in-context, $40 million seems pretty fair.

The others apparently making SO MUCH less than him, on the other hand, eh.

Yeah, that's the kicker.

Actually, [BLACKOUT]Vision said he wasn't JARVIS either. Vision isn't even on the Avengers side. He's on the side of life, [/BLACKOUT]so Vision will choose the side which will result in the fewest deaths. If Wanda and Vision are on the same side, who could possibly stand against them? Because of this, I think Vision will choose to be on the same side as Wanda.

Also, I don't think anyone should assume that Thanos will rip the gem out of Vision's forehead. It's very possible he never gets to that point. Even with just two infinity stones, a Thanos would be unbelievably powerful.

I don't know if removing the gem would shut Vision down. Yes, he needed it to be "born" but so did Ultron., yet he could also exist without it. Now that his program is active, I think you could remove the gem and still have Vision, although it would be a severely depowered version.

Now as to the question of how or why Thanos would remove the gem gently enough for Vision to survive...

No concern for that. He'll definitely be in Infinity Wars.

Sorry for resurrecting this thread! :cmad:

Having finally seen Ant-Man, I now think that the rosters will look like this:

Team Cap (Anti-Registration)
Cap (obviously)
Falcon
Scarlet Witch
Black Widow
Ant-Man
Winter Soldier

Team Iron Man (Pro-Registration)
Iron Man (obviously)
War Machine
Vision
Hawkeye

while this is true, they are making more than they had originally agreed to and it was RDJ who shamed Marvel into giving them that raise...

They all arrive at The Avengers Basketball Court and shoot for teams. Cap basically is an enhanced human, so he makes every shot. Cap picks all the heavyweights and his best friends:

Team America: Vision, Scarlet Witch, War Machine, Bucky, and Falcon.

Team Stark: Ant-Man, *Black Widow, Spider-Man

*Black Widow is of course a spy and sabotages Team Stark. Captain America wins!

I know Ant-Man will be helping out Cap with Bucky, but what happens after that? Maybe stark offers him lots of money that will help with Cassie's child support.

I dont see how Ant Man would be pro-registration.

Fixed. ;)
Jokes aside. I just see Rhodes on the same side like Stark. And I think Lang is just perfect for Roger's underdogs.

This is what I got...

Cap: Falcon, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, Antman, Winter Soldier

Ironman: War Machine, Widow, Vision, Spiderman, Black Panther

BP and Spidey will be neutral for most of the film, but their last action will be in favor of the Pro Reg.
.

I have always pictured BW to be more on Steve's side. It seems more fitting that Ironman's team be more oriented around technology and firepower whereas Cap's is based more around more civilized fighting (hand-to-hand, bows, etc). Will it work out that way? Probably not. But ever since I learned that there would be two opposing teams in this, that concept sort of got burned into my mind.

Also aren't BP and Spiderman supposed to have very minor and neutral roles at best? Well if they do get put into teams, I see Spidey on Cap's side and BP on Tony's. Winter Soldier will probably still be at least partially villainous in this one, so I don't feel comfortable including him in any team just yet

I was thinking it would be cool to see Rhodes against Tony, but it wouldn't make any sense after the news stating Rhodes is the man in the Iron Patriot armor and the president's bodyguard. I'm assuming he is for the superhero registration act because of his strong involvement with the American Government.

Black Widow can do what she does best and play as a double agent. Triple agent if it suits her. While on Starks side, she can help Cap along the way to stay one step ahead of him. I do believe atleast one female should be on Tony's side, but I just can't see it being Scarlett Witch.

Spidey isn't getting much screen time, but I do believe RDJ will be in the next spiderman movie, so Im putting Peter on Tony's side.

So how certain is it that Tony will make an appearance in Spider-Man 2017 anyway?

It's all up in the air and if RDJ was to be in it Sony would have to be contractually negotiated and they have to $$$$. They reportedly haven't even decided on a villain yet.

Spiderman 2017 needs to be as profitable as possible. What better way to have RDJ Tony Stark show up? Granted I assume Sony will have to fit the bill of RDJ $40 million movie demand.

The movie needs to be a little different from previous versions, and Tony Stark brings that element to it. Wasn't part of the Sony deal that they could use up to 2 "Avengers" in this movie??

That wasn't part of the deal, Pascal said she'd like to have Iron Man or Cap in an e-mail. Ike responded that it benefited Sony immeasurably but wouldn't do anything for Marvel, that even having Spider-man in Civil War would do far more for Sony than Marvel (and he's right). This was back before there was any Spider-Man deal. Rumors from the deal though are that MCU characters could now be in Sony.

Marvel can and needs to agree to their characters being used but can't make a deal for anyone but their supporting actors signed to more formless multi-pic deals like Sebastian or Cobie. Evans and RDJ are contracted to specific movies and they'd have to agree to to being in another movie and negotiations would be necessary.

It wasn't ever said that Panther was minor, just neutral. I think Feige said he has a "pretty big" part or something along those lines.

Surprised people are putting Vision on Tony's side, the "morally wrong" side, if you will. It would be such a contradiction of the essence of the character. The whole point of Vision was that he seemed to be peaceful at heart. This plus the reception of him lifting the hammer, I would assume Vision's role would be with the team that's in the moral right; which would be cap's.

I could almost see Wanda being on Tony's side.
