It has been seen time and time again that with the release of a new comic-based superhero movie, certain elements, designs, storylines get introduced into the source material as well. Movies like BATMAN, X-Men, etc. sometimes show us new ideas which eventually creep into their respective comic titles.

What aspects, designs, ideas, etc. put forward in Superman Returns do you think should influence the comics? We've already seen certain issues where the look of the Daily Planet reflects the look that the movie depicts.

Do you think the costume should evolve slowly? Do you think characters like Richard White (or even Jason) can find a place on the printed page? Do you think a Spacey-like Lex is what we've been waiting for?

Superman Returns is definitely based on a lot of material that has come before it. But I'm sure that it brings enough new material and ideas to the table.

Clark.

The dorky, clutzy Clark needs to return.

I know he's made a comeback in ALL STAR, but if he could be that way in the regular comics....it'd be sweet.

The new Post-IC Silver Age-based Superman origins may be very Donner/Singer inspired.

Lois and Superman having a child will finally happen; now would be the best time with Bruce and Selina having Helena.

I'd like to see more of the Crystal Krypton aspects make it into the new origins since they looked amazing in the prequel comics.

Having Superman bear a resemblence to Brandon facially will probably happen over time also (as it did with Reeve).

I think they should have Superman rotate between the traditional suit and the SR suit with one being the suit Ma Kent helped sew together and the other being the SR Kryptonian tech battle suit which Jor-El designed.

Ideally nothing would change as the movies should imitate the source as much as possible - but I know that wont happen.

Comics take their lead from the popular media of the day. We're already seeing a return to the pre-crisis, mad-scientist Lex in UU&A - I guess I'm comfortable with that.

But what would I like: Bring back the pre-crisis Lexor battlesuit!!!

Definetely the three superman personas, and making lex more wittier than just a "Destroy superman!" guy

Im still waiting for Richard Pryor to show up in the comics.

The Crystal stuff. Art and Coloring have gotten to the point that we can see Crystal based technology in all it's glory on the printed page.

The costume. It's been a while since the red and Blues got tweaked, I see aspects being brought in in some places. I would like to see the huge billboard S being scaled down and made a bit 3D like the symbol in the film.

The Kid. yeah, there, I said it! why should Bruce be the only one to have a child (or Children).

its easier for me to outline the things that i DONT want to influence the comics:

Richard White= just keep him out. he may work well for the movie but is totally unnescessary in the comic book universe

SR Suit= Fleischer was good in his time, but 70+ years of fine tuning the suit shouldnt be thrown out the window for the sake of a popular movie. take whatever new stuff from the SR suit that can improve the current style. lets move the suit forward, not backward.

The Kid Predicament= i'd like Superman to have a child someday, but not in the circumstances by which he had Jason or the way Jason grew up.

that's all i can think of right now. everything else i wouldnt mind if they showed up in the comics :)

Keep lex from the movie as far as away from Superman

I don't think Superman Returns will influence Superman comics today , because fact is Superman Returns uses all Precrisis elements and well That era is dead and gone.

Just recently they killed Earth 2 superman in infinite crisis and Earth 2 luther was killed back in crisis on infinite earth . SO nothing from this film would influence superman comics.

I love LEX in the comics and hate him in the movies , One is Dominate force , the other is a blumbering idiot.

Steelsheen, what are your opinions on Nuclear Man??

Nuclear Man can actually work in the comics, just needs some tweaking, like what happened with Zod (Post-Crisis versions). the character Hemmingway played, she should be kept out.

The general tone of the film would work well in the comics.

If the movies were turn into comics Dc would be out of buisness in no time , just because the stories suck compared to the comic stories.

Also Nuclear man is in the comics we call him Bizzaro

Didnt Nuclear Man actually happen in the comics? He was one of Firestorm's earlier versions before Ronny merged with the professor.

id say nuclear man was more of a bizarro than anything else

I don't want silverage influences to return to the comics, there boring. I don't want bumbling Clark to return either, although I understand why they went that route in the movie seeing that the mass audience is used to that. And I want Lex to stay the same as he has been since 1986!

I don't think they should mix this movie and the comics.

absolutely noting, like someone said SR is based of Donner flick which is all pre-crisis. I mean DC just wrapped up infintity crisis, i wouldn't want to go back to the pre-crisis days. So nothing in the movie, especially the kid.

no the Nuclear Man nick associated with Firestorm is not related to the nemesis Superman faced in Superman4. its coincidental that they have the same name.

Then youre screwed. Didio said theyre going back to a new precrisis silverage inspired origin with Superman post-IC.

Levitz hinted that Lois and Clark may have a child reletively soon which will coincide with Bruce and Selina having Helena and the film.

I hope hes named Jason.

Yes, no need for pre-crisis to return!

Never, Ever!

they dont need to bring everything from Pre-Crisis back, just the classic elements.

this is where personal preference comes in. lots of younguns i know are Post-Crisis freaks, because thats what they're mostly exposed to, its the most readily available. its hard to get a hold of original/ archival editons of Golden and Silver age comic books, and when they're available they dont come cheap. when kids do manage to read the Pre-Crisis comics they laugh at them because they're "corny". they may be corny by todays' storytelling standards but at least its original, imaginative writing. you may have continuity problems left and right, but hey that's how you develop a superhero, that's how you make a franchise grow. and best of all, its fun reading. escapism at its finest :D.

I have feared something like this happening for the past year. There is no reason other than the fact that Superman Returns is coming out for the comics to be inspired by the silverage material. It seems that the higher ups don't understand the meaning of the word dated.

I mean, they do realize that there are fans of Superman who like the new take's on the character post-crisis, such as myself. We are not getting our movie, which I have no problem with, but why should the comics revert back to the 50's. Thats not right, and it's not fair. And as far as mass appeal goes, it's silverage like material that makes Superman seem boring to alot of mainstream public.

On that note, the kid doesn't bother me. And it never has. It was bound to happen in some incarnation anyway. I mean, it's a plot device, but I don't mind it.

Luthor is at his prime

Superman has a personality

And lois is a real character

all that would be demishied by Pre crisis
