The Amazing Spider-Man 2 What Did You Not Like?(Spoilers!!!)

"I break up with you." Whaaaaaaaaat? This chick is the Valedictorian?
Spidey's use of Spidey-sense in Times Square was too long and video game-ish.
Max Dillion was pretty damn hammy, but I'm sure people like him exist.
Kafta

That's an affirmation that she is the one doing the break up, she is the one stopping the hurt Peter is causing with his back and forth. She gets to be the one that ends it.

Pretty much all Max/Electro scenes except the first "eyes and ears" and Harry's "I need you".

Spidey fans cheering for spiderman. Whats even odd is people barricaded behind the cop cars directly in front of rhino not being shot by any of his bullets, now thats amazing.

I hated the Kafka scenes. What the heck?!

They are as distasteful as most if the Jar Jar Binks scenes.

Speaking of which, am I the only one who found it jarring how frequently the word amazing was used to describe something? If that ain't cheese, then I don't know what is.

Electro: "they should call you the amazing Spider-Man!"

Worse.

It was still kinda awkward though.

Kafta wasn't as bad as Jar Jar. I think you guys made him seem worse than we really was. I was picturing something really horrific, it was just pretty blagh.

DeHaan was good as Harry but that Goblin design was horrible. Even the 2002 Goblin was better looking and his laugh was better.

Greener skin, pointy ears, and yellow eyes would have gone a long way. It's something that kinda frustrates me.

uncle ben was reduced to a couple " I miss uncle ben" lines

peter cared more about capt stacy 's ghost and his parents rather than the man who not only raised him and instilled strong morals upon him, but was the catalyst for him becoming spider-man (due to peters own negligence).

he never bothered to solve or even think of uncle ben's murder.

This. It seemed like at the end of TASM1 that that would be a big point of emphasis going forward. But other than a couple of lines about Uncle Ben, he wasn't even mentioned. What happened to Peter having the sketch of that guy on his wall with everything else?

That's my biggest complaint about the movie...and I don't have many. I just think it's dumb that Uncle Ben is kind of an afterthought after it seemed like it was going to be a big deal going forward.

I didn't like how Harry became the Goblin. I mean, his transformation was fine, but he just so happened to be next to this special suit and glider that gets no explanation about how it would help or sustain someone's life in a situation like Harry's. He crawls to it, get in it, and then, 5 minutes later, he's a pro at flying the glider and using its weaponry. Just seems like there was something missing for that part of his story.

Didn't love Harry as the Goblin. But loved Harry as Harry.
Kafka was awful
Giamatti was awful too, as much as that hurts to say

That's it though. Loved the movie

Everything being said in the thread basically confirms what I thought about the movie. I'll watch it when it hits HBO or something, but have no desire to see it in the theaters, will save my money for X-Men and Guardians of the Galaxy.

Electro, Electro, Electro. Every time his character was on the screen I rolled my eyes. I thought the action scenes were good but the character had no purpose or business imo being any sort of lead villain in this film.

They book end the film with cheesy Rhino moments that really deserve all the “Batman & Robin” comparisons that I’ve read. Spider-Man dickin' around in the opening truck chase should have gotten dozens of people killed for no reason. All those crashes and then the two bad guys open fire on trapped cops.

Seeing New Yorkers standing behind instant barricades watching gun battles and explosions happening less than 100 yards away as if it was some sort of Spider-Man sports contest actually made me cringe. Same thing happened in Electro's time square romp.

This is such a BAD film.

I take it you're just copying and pasting these thoughts in every thread you can find?

1. The Richard Parker (wasn't that the tiger in Life of Pi?) reveal was anti climatic.

2. Rhino looked ridiculous and Rhino as a human and a mech suit was shouting every line. 'Slightly' too acting there, Paul.

Other issues like pacing, character development, inconsistent tone didn't really bother me at all.

Kind of wish Peter was less cocky out of the suit. I hate to say it but I don't need to see Peter Parker cry like 7 times in a movie. You could have cut a few scenes of Gwen and Peter talking but not talking about being together or not being together. Also, no disrespect to Paul Giamatti but Rhino should have been cut. It bookends the movie horribly. At the end with Rhino, that kid running out to fight Rhino, fricking ridiculous. 5 cops grab the mother but not one of them grabs the 9 year old headed into machine gun fire. Actually what the hell are people doing standing around watching a fire fight in the streets like that. Get your child away from that danger. It was like Spider Man 3 all over again. The Slo-mo was over done. Electro was also introduced and came off as a caricature of the comic version. The score was the worst thing I've heard from Zimmer, ever. Okay I'm done *****ing.

I felt that Peter & Gwen's on & off relationship was over done so by the time she dies it's meant to be impactful but it kinda come across as ok well she dead now what?

For 5 months Peter is in a state of grieving and abandoned the city he swore to protect. Then after a chat with Aunt May who could've quoted "With Great Power, Comes Great Responsibility " and Gwen's Graduation message Spidey returns.

Also I felt Electro was underplayed in terms of Max's story pre-Electro.

Worse.

The word spectacular had also been thrown around a couple times during the movie.

The very, and too short Goblin/Spider-man fight is the only one that had any effect. The tone, was in polar opposite to the first movie and not better b/c of it. Electro, could have been a good character, but was very poorly written.

Rhino, camp cgi, ridiculous.

Another problem i had with the film is that even though there were 2 and abit villains it never really felt like there was a main villain in the film.

Gwen and Peters makeup breakup scenes, like ffs make up your damn minds.

Loved all spideys bits but peter did come off as a arrogant sook.

The tone of the film was confusing because at times it felt serious and other times campy.

Very poor marketing sony, very poor.

The only real problem I had with the film was the sony product placement. It was a little much to be honest. Sony this, Sony that, blu ray billboards, vios, etc.

Also some missing shots from the trailers that really grabbed me.

There was something else I didn't like, but I can't recall at this moment.

The dislike of product placement is a complete and utter mystery to me.
I never ever notice it (and short of someone breaking the 4th wall to tell me about a product) I never will.

I Did notice the product placement for bluray but other then that I didn't notice any.

1. The first 10-15 minutes of the movie was one big disconnect for me. I didn't care about Peter's parents so there was no tension from the plane sequence. The introduction of Aleksei/Rhino was cringe-worthy and made me embarrassed I was watching the movie. Man of Steel got crap for Superman not giving a damn about saving people so I'm not sure why the writers of TASM2 decided to one-up that bonehead mistake by making Spider-man an idiot who jokes and plays around with Aleksei while he's plowing cars left and right hurting New York citizens. I couldn't believe what I was watching and soured me on the Peter/Spider-man character in the beginning.

2. The Peter/Gwen on again/off again sitcom relationship was annoying.

3. Max's character and his corny theme, don't have to say anymore.

4. Goblin was rushed for the sake of
killing Gwen

5. Spidey-kid vs. Rhino at the end was completely botched by stupid editing.
So they show the kid in the safety of his own home looking at the wind turbine that Spider-man fixed for him. Then a scene or two later he's shown on the street in his Spidey outfit with all of the other idiots watching a huge robotic tank that's firing machine guns coming directly their way (apparently NYKers don't mind being in the line of fire). So then I questioned why he and his mother just happen to be in the path of the Rhino in the first place which took me out of the scene. My only guess ia his mom is the biggest idiot on Earth who let her son dress up in a Spidey outfit and decided to put him in harm's way to watch Rhino blow stuff up with the rest of the dumb spectators  The execution of that scene was just too stupid to ignore and turned into a WTF moment for me.
