What do you dislike about modern comics?

I just thought of something else to add to my list of things I dislike about modern comics. It's these super-complicated impossible retcons.

She should have stayed Oracle, and got her ability to walk back.

I was reading somewhere--can't remember where, maybe another website--someone said that this would be difficult to do. If a cure were found for Oracle, something that would get her walking again, it would be very hard for all those people who really ARE stuck in wheelchairs in the real world, and who had no hope of ever walking again, to deal with. It would just be too hard for them to take. And I can honestly see this.

That's why the whole Oracle thing will probably get scratched. The "physically challenged" issue is a touchy subject, with a lot of sensitive baggage around it.

What i don't like in modern comics, huhm, Harley Quinn's new costume

MAAANNNNNNN!! BOOOOOO!that looks like &*^$#!See this is what i am talking about i am all for half-naked chicks, but damn can you put some thought into it!.... wait a min she has pig tails! yeah! that makes her cool!! That's craptastic!

People always seem eager to **** Harley up. Her Arkham City redesign has her looking like some kind of biker/stripper combination. Makes me want to throttle whoever comes up with these designs and yell, "She's supposed to have a jester theme for a reason, remember?!"

Ramos's art is ****ing awesome and fits characters like Spider-Man to a T.

I couldn't agree more. I, for one, think he and Dan Slott have been really killing it on Spider-Island. That arc is just absolute fun.

Too much retcon.

Not enough sense of peril or excitement.

It seems like the best story lines and character development is happening in the indie scene.

My family has a tradition of collecting comics going way back. Family "get togethers" are full of Marvel vs DC debates and shouting matches. It use to be fun stuff. Now it seems like there is little to be talked about since many inf the family including myself have left the big two.

Even minor characters are not immune to being retconned and placed into safety for the sake of the franchise.

Long live indie.

Pretty much everything. I hate events. I hate snarky dialogue. I hate anti-heroes. I hate deaths. I like the quality of art okay but I dislike how everything looks the same. I miss plot-driven fantasy stories as opposed to nerd soap operas.

I basically dislike DC and Marvel in general. DC isn't too bad - but Marvel and this Disney crap is just a joke.
The public only seem to like and focus on characters that come out of mainstream movies..
I'll always lean towards underground comics.

What does Marvel being owned by Disney have to do with everything?
