What do YOU think the 3 MCU movies will be in 2020?

only if you believe the studios. the x-men tv deal makes no sense for MS to make UNLESS they get some of their rights back in return and FOX has nothing to win with keeping them. but this is a discussion for another thread. let's just say it is very likely some kind of agreement was found

I wouldn't even say it's very likely. At least the Spider-Man rumors were more believable because the relationship between Marvel and Sony is much more amicable.

And yet here we are in 2015 and suddenly Fox and Marvel are producing two TV shows together. So there's that.

Thoughts:
GotG 3
Dr Strange 2
Iron Man 4

Prayers:
Silver Surfer
Hulk 2
Namor

There is no way Marvel has been building up the Inhumans just to have the movie scrapped. Scrapped in favor of a F4 movie, no less. An Inhumans movie has so much more potential.
I totally agree with you. Unfortunately, I think that's the route they're probably going to take. The X-Men TV series could potentially be getting made on an ancilliary rights deal but I don't know...

I think if it does happen, Marvel will try to advertise as: Oh we still have an inhumans move (of course letting the audience know what they mean after or shortly before the movie's released and people will see that's how the Fantastic Four get their powers I'll bet). Of course changing direction will have an expense at something namely Inhumans (if a movie does get made then a spinoff of course). I just think it would be better if this whole scenario doesn't occur.

Captain America 4 (With Stan or Mackie as Cap)
Spiderman Sequel
Fantastic 4 Reboot

Ant-Man/Wasp 3
Venom
Guardians of the Galaxy 3

Wildcard: Spiderman Noir
Wildcard: Silver Surfer (Marvel will have the rights back by 2020, you'll see if they don't)
Wildcard: Rom: Space Knight (written & directed by James Gunn)

Please guys, the Fantasic 4 rumor has already been debunked. Besides, even if Marvel were to get the rights back, Marvel would at least let the franchise cool off for a few years. Unlike Spider-Man, there has never been a truly successful F4 film. If Marvel were to release a F4 film, all the GA would know is that another bad F4 movie is being made. Most people wouldn't even know or care that it's being made by Marvel.

I don't think anyone was saying that Inhumans was scrapped

Most likely sequels of the top 3 movies of phase 3- SO:

Dr Strange
GOTG 3
Spiderman 2

Wildcards would be anything new so:
Blade
Black Widow
Fantastic 4 (if they get it back)
Venom

Guardians 3 - for sure

Doc Strange 2 - if #1 is successful, and it likely will be

Those are my most likely picks for continuing franchises.
Black Panther will have come out just 2 years prior, so his second film is more likely to come in 2021 or 22.
Cap and Thor will likely continue similar to what's being done with Iron Man, showing up in other franchises.
Spidey is tough. We know he's going to have more films lined up, but is Marvel handling the press release for those dates or will Sony be announcing that? That doubt is what led me to side with Strange instead as being part of the 3 that Marvel announced... Hell, by the time 2020 comes around we might be getting 4 MCU films a year, so this might be a non-issue.

Now the question of the new property for 2020 (if they follow the2:1 yearly formula that's been mentioned).
I think (and yeah, hope) that it will be a Fantastic Four relaunch.
Even if nothing concrete has happened with that property right now, that doesn't mean that negotiations aren't in the works. As Feige has mentioned before, they're always planning ahead...
If not the 4 (which would be perfect to have them be the focus of Phase 4), then maybe Runaways.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
Spider-Man Two
A new film for someone else

I think if they want to have GotG and the Avengers team up, The Korvac Saga would be a good place to do it.

Unless the first film is bad and/or flops, I think one of them will likely be Dr. Strange 2. However, if its a big success I could see them moving Inhumans to one of the 2020 dates with Dr. Strange 2 taking their current July 2019 date.

And while Marvel may not have complete autonomy in picking a date here, MCU Spider-Man 2 seems like another likely candidate to claim one of these slots.

I agree that they'll likely try and introduce a new franchise. The Runaways seems like the likeliest candidate in that regard. I do share the notion that a Marvel FF reboot is a wildcard candidate here. I really do believe that Marvel will get their rights back soon even if that rumor was a bit premature.

It is very interesting... as there are so many possible movies.

Normally i would go with:

May: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3
July: Spiderman 2
November: Doctor Stange 2

I think, that will be the three movies...
And i think Marvel already knows it, but they will wait, how "Spiderman" and "Doctor Strange" do at the box office.

BUT...
There are at least three things, why i am not 100% sure...

1. How about "Doctor Strange 2" in November 2019! (Feb 2020)

2. What about "Iron Man 4" or "Captain America 4" - i do not hope that Marvel really think that "a trilogie" is enough. Come on Marvel - these are the big stars of your universe, and i like to see more than just three movies about "Cap, I-Man and Thor"

3. There would be no new property in 2020. Could be possible, as a fourth movie for "Thor, Cap and Iron Man" would also not be on the list and we got a lot of new faces the years before (Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Inhumans, Doctor Strange) and there a many sequals to tell - but i do not know, if they are really just showing us sequals in 2020?!? hmmm

I think, we are getting three sequals in 2020. See above...

Other possibilities are:

4. Iron Man 4 (i hope)
5. Captain America 4 (i hope)
6. Fantastic Four
7. Hulk (i hope)

As it looks, Marvel needs to produce a forth movie in 2019 and 2020 - and i think they will.
Do a "Doctor Stange" sequal in late 2019 and a sequal or a new property in Feb. 2020

Therefore my 5 movies beginning late 2019 are:

November 2019: Doctor Strange 2
February 2020: Captain America 4 (new face, but the real Cap will return later in the movie)
May 2020: Iron Man 4
July: Spiderman 2
November: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3

It looks unrealistic, as three of the best properties (GotG, Iron Man and Captain America) are normally all "May-movies", but i think, that there is a need for all 3 movies in 2020...
We did not see a "Iron Man" movie in 7 years, the last "Cap"-movie is 2016 and for the Guardians 3 years should be the normal shift.
(maybe they push one to May 2021)

Sorry, but Marvel isn't going to be making movies on Cap and Iron Man until kingdom come. Not when there are several other unique characters to explore. Don't expect any more sequels from those franchises unless the phase 3 films bomb hard. I don't see Marvel doing 4 movies a year. If they were, they'd move Captain Marvel back to her November spot. Marvel will make sequels for all the new heroes. With three movies a year, this will leave enough room to introduce two new franchise. This keeps things fresh by introducing at least two new franchises per phase.

Considering how successful Ant-Man was, don't expect another sequel to IM, Thor, and Cap.

while, personally, I am against the idea of trilogies because they are limiting, the way I see it handled in the near future (at least Phases 3 & 4) is the big 4 appearing as 'guest stars' in other movies. Tony in CW or Hulk in Ragnarök. Thor will probably show up in maybe GOTG 3 or Cap in Ant-Man 2, I guess. So they main Avengers won't be forgotten in the near future even though no new movies about them will be made for a Phase or two.

I would say GOTG 3, Spidey 2 (unless the first one bombs), and Strange 2 (again, unless the first one bombs). The WC is if Marvel really did get the rights to the FF back, they will definitely be introducing all those characters in the MCU. In fact, they could lead with a glossed over origin story/epic battle with Doom part 1 and go right to having Skrulls start popping up in every Phase 4 movie. Leading up to Avengers: Secret Invasion Part I and Part II, of course. That should take us out to about... 2025 or so?

One of them has to be Runaways. If not, I'll stick with the Netflix shows.

@ R_Hythlodeus, Mike5575

Iron Man, Thor and Captain America just appearing as "guest stars" - was also my first thought.
Iron Man is such a "guest star" already, and i am expacting him also in "Spiderman".

To turn to new faces may be a good thing, and there are lots of possibilties still - but i think, it makes no sence to build the future without solo-movies on Thor, Iron Man or Captain America. There are so many stories to tell, and the fan base is there too...

A - in my eyes - bad "Iron Man 3" made 1,2 billion... Captain America is on a roll...
With Thor, it is different - but because of production too (director, budget etc.) -, okay, but after "Thor: Ragnarok" i am sure, everybody can not wait for "Thor 4".

I think it is a must to keep up doing sequels for them. With RDJ it is just the money. Chris Evens said already, that he will be on board, if Marvel wants to...
With Chris Hemsworth - do not know... but we surely will miss Loki, or?

And - one thing we may not forget. Thanos will destroy Asgard, or someone else will destroy Asgard (with Loki, Odin and all the others) in "Thor: Ragnarok" - but Thor will be back for "IW 1+2".
If he gets not killed at the end of "IW 2", there has to be a movie about the resurrection of Asgard.

The buttom line - i think it would be a waist not to do further sequals on Iron Man, Thor and Captain America. A BIG waist, and i do not think, that Marvel thinks this way...
They will pay RDJ or recast him after "IW 2", they will keep Evans for sure, and Thor will "bring back Asgard, as it was, before Thanos strikes"!

I think since they will have just introduced a bunch of new marquee characters in Phase 3, Phase 4 will probably take a similar route to Phase 2 - it'll be comprised primarily of sequels for those new Phase 3 characters. So I think there's a decent chance the 2020 films will be the equivalent of that Phase 2 run of IM3, Thor2 and Cap2 - this time in the form of Doctor Strange 2, Spidey 2 and GotG Vol. 3. Phase 2 didn't introduce any new IP's 'til its 2nd half, and I think Phase 4 will probably be the same way - start with a run of sequels, close with a new title or two. So 2021 will probably feature the 1st new IP's of Phase 4 (along with the Cap Marvel, Black Panther and Inhumans sequels, hopefully).
