What does it mean if the internal speaker in an Xbox does not work?

Does it matter, just wondering? Because an Xbox I'm ordering says it's broken. What will this do?

I honestly did not know the Xbox had an internal speaker. I figured all the sound came out of the TV or sound system the console is connected to. Probably not an issue.

It must be a special edition (ie Halo, Gears) that have special sound effects when you press the power button.
