What Happend to Family Guy?

Calling it the best episode this season is to say you're the world's tallest midget - i.e. you're still a short li'l ****er regardless.

That said, I have to admit to have (surprisingly) enjoyed last night's show.

I thought the dead baby joke was tasteless and unecessary.

It probably would've been better suited to Drawn Together :hehe: .

This show just gets worse and worse. Unfortunately Family Guy has become self-aware and has bought into its own Hype. The writing staff has gotten lazy and has no problem abandoning plot, breaking the fourth wall, being completely incoherrant, and dragging out jokes for literally 5 minutes (over 1/5 of the whole episode) because they are convinced of their own brilliance.

The only part you forgot was how they shove their politics down the audiences' throat to the point of literally stopping the episode just to do so. :cmad:

My primary problem with the show lately is that a number of the things that it used to do seamlessly are now glaringly obvious and transparent. FG was never a prime representation of flawless plot execution/development, smart, biting social commentary and/or some triumph in cleverness. It was always lowbrow, but it seems to suck ass lately. It's as if either they're trying too hard or not trying hard enough.

I'm watching the 420 episode, WHAT THE **** THEY KILLED A CAT? WHAT THE ****?

Killing a cat on TV isn't all that new.

They did it in The Office (albeit off-screen) and Reno 911.

Anybody find it a little ironic that American Dad is LESS pushy about McFarlane's polical/religious views than FG? At least, that's what I'm getting. Of all the episodes I've seen, none of the Smiths have 'paused' the show to unsubtly break the fourth well and lecture us directly.

I've noticed that too.

Honestly, I'd blame the "liberal BS" as I call it on Family Guy on whomever is the show-runner (i.e. not MacFaralne!) I say that because the man is clearly too damn busy to be able to daily run 3 different shows (i.e. Family Guy, American Dad! and now The Cleveland Show) not to mention his animated shorts on YouTube.

I miss the Critic...there I said it:o
Me too :( .

Why couldn't it stay on air longer? I mean, didn't James L. Brooks/Gracie Films have some serious clout after building up Fox's rep with Tracy Ullman and The Simpsons?

According to MacFarlane, they still do...

So MacFarlane isn't running FG at the moment? I guess it does seem a bit much that he would be handling three shows at once and a bunch of online animated shorts.

He runs Family Guy, oversee's production / ok's / voice acting on American Dad! and runs The Cleveland Show. His Family Guy duties have been cut back a bit while he does the Cleveland Show, but in a interview I read with him a few months back he said he's working on one of the three shows about 18 hours a day, 6 days a week, and that's not even doing his non-Fox stuff.

But, then again, he's the highest paid guy in TV right now. Or something like that. He got 100$million to extend American Dad and Family Guy for 4 more seasons east last year.

I think the best episodes of family gut that I've seen this season are:

Love Blactually- "And boom goes the dynamite."
The Man with Two Brians- Just Stewie killing the dog was worth it
Ocean's Three and a Half- lmao everything during the party thing.

The one with Handi-Quacks was pretty darn funny too. The parts with Peter and Chris talking about Meg were hilarious.

And ***** Duck, who constantly nags at me to throw away my empty beer cans.

Rofl.

I thought tonight's show was pretty funny.

The little Goonies reference was hilarious.

Tonights episode was 80% crap.

Since when is Peter a pedo?

Stewie had some good lines though.

For some reason "I flew today" had me in hysterics lol

Peter acting like a pedo was hilarious. especially the part where he looks at the camera and says, "what? this is a cartoon!" lol

No way I found it a bit out of character..I dunno hard to explain..like it was and wasnt cuz he hit on her before but what now? Peter raping Connie is gonna be a new ongoing joke? It's stupid. I think its out of character because ultimately he loves Lois and has shown shes the only one for him on so many occasions.

I was wondering when they were going to make a Silence of the Lambs reference with Chris, since Green based Chris's voice on Buffalo Bill.

While I laughed at it and found it funny all I could think was Clerks 2

"I like what you're doing with your boobs" or something of that nature. That was so funny when Peter said that line.
