What Happend to Family Guy?

I was in Best Buy with a friend, and we were looking at the TVs when the Simpsons came on. The intro seriously, no joke, lasted for like 3 minutes. They were chasing the couch into space and around the world and stuff.....You can tell they have just run out of ideas.
I don't like the Simpsons anymore either but is that to be opposed to playing the full Christian Bale rant, playing entire Conway Twitty songs, etc...Family Guy has a funny joke but they take it way to far and that is annoying. They have a joke and then ram it into the ground and beat it senseless. They are becoming what they once made fun of. I think Seth having now 3 or 4 shows on his plate can account for the decline in quality of this show.

Surfing bird :down

I liked it too. :woot:

However, I can see how it could have easily aggravated people.

Seth is becoming arrogant. He really thinks he is a genius and an awesome person just because of FG's success, he recycles jokes. And as South Park said, he even makes the jokes interchangeable. So, I agree with you.

But the Christian Bale rant is hilarious, and to see it on family guy with Peter is funny. The conway twitty songs are annoying filler, but they are so annoying, they are kind of amusing. I remember going "WTF? How long is this!?" and chuckling a bit.

FG is just not what it used to be.

Make it better:

-Make more characters to join the Quoahog town. We used to get a new character every season, it stopped for some reason.
-Have events that have lasting effects. What happened to Peter getting a new job each season? Why can't Brian find and keep a GF? There used to be things that lasted.
-Have Meg finally graduate, she's been in highschool for like 6 years. If Meg is such a lame and under-used character, then sending her off to college would at least give her character growth and story to draw from.
- Character redesigns. Their outfits aren't that cool or unique to begin with, it would be cool for Chris to get a new hat or clothes or something, or have Meg get hot again and stay that way.
-Jokes that relate to the episode, that happen -in- the episode, not as a flashback.
-No more RL footage
- What happened to Lois teaching Piano? Chris' art? Brian's drinking? We need to see more hobbies and interests of the characters.
- Stop turning characters into caricatures of themselves. Like Quagmire.

Stewie has become a caricature of himself like Quagmire and so has Lois.

Stewie's become even more awesome than ever, I think. Alot funnier.

LOL. I really loved surfing bird. I guess they got the point across that drove Brian and Stewie to do what they did, though.

They should just cancel "Family Guy" and bring back "The Critic."

Chris: Chris is shown to be less of an idiot then what he was portrayed before.

Stewie: Yeah, they stopped the "is he gay?" and outed him pretty much..But, he's also showing less hate towards the world. Now, most of the time, he comes across as being the "chill" one of the house.
Chris also seems to know right from wrong more than any character on the show.

I was watching some of Seth's interview on Real Time where he commented on Stewie's sexuality. His answer to Stewie being called gay was "We'll see, we're still figuring that out."

I don't mind some of the recycled jokes ("Cool wHip" "Ruined") I like some of them more than the chicken fights, and Conway Twitty songs.

I agree that they should try to make the show better but character redesigns is not going to accomplish that. Making Meg hot (and keeping her that way) is the equivalent of having Stewie growing up. :down

I'm getting tired of the no talent guest appearances like Lauren Conrad, Amanda Bynes, I'll even throw Drew Barrymore into the mix.

To think that the Lauren Conrad episode was originally going to be about Paris Hilton.

"An American Dog In Paris"

Previously known as An American Dog in Paris. The episode was originally written for Paris Hilton to guest star. But according to one Family Guy director, "She doesn't have a sense of humor about herself and refused to do it."

This show just sucks now it's no longer funny. I don't like that Stewie is totally gay I liked it better when it was ambiguous and when he hated Lois.

The Critic is great. And it actually has a reason for it's cutaway gags, they're all movie parodies.

Stewie really isn't "totally gay" though. I mean, didn't he have a crush on Joe's daughter just a few episodes ago, or maybe last season? It seems like he's just gay when they need a gay joke.

I have some ideas on how to make the show better . . .

-Stop ramming political/religious messages down everyone's throats. We get it, Seth. You're a liberal and an atheist. Which also brings me to . . .
-Brian was a lot cooler before he essentially became an author avatar. As a mouthpiece for MacFarlane, his character has been completely derailed; for example, Brian suddenly being an atheist even though he actually met Jesus a few episodes prior, and he even witnessed Jesus increase Lois's bust. Make Brian his own character again.
-Hell, bring back the characterizations of everyone from before the show was cancelled (Peter being a well-meaning idiot instead of a complete jerkass like in the newer seasons, Lois being likeable, etc.).
-No more Conway Twitty and other cost-cutting gags that take up 10-20% of the episode.
-Get rid of jokes and gags that are unfunny and only exist to offend. At least when South Park does an incredibly offensive joke, it's funny (most of the time anyway).

How about enough of the gratuitious song and dance numbers Seth McF likes to use to vicariously live his former aspirations out through Brian and Stewie.

Eh, I don't have a problem with these. They're not constant like a lot of the other trash that's kept this show in the dumps.

Cancel Family Guy?

That's been done before. And it failed.

muhahahahahahahaha.

They really do throw continuity to the wind, don't they?

Except, of course, when they want to make some "clever" non-sequitar reference to a past episode.

Watched "Stew-roids" again on Adult Swim, after watching it a second time it's one of my favorite episodes of the season.

"Now lets give you a pencil thin *****ebag beard."

"I've got veins that carry blood all over my bahdy. That's how John Mayer would say it. Bahdy. I'm really into him now. You better be okay with it!”

:funny:

I liked the show better when it wasn't shoving liberal politics and messages down our throats.

I think they just need to get back to the core of telling us a story about this "Family Guy". It's the one thing that the Simpsons have maintained and South Park has never really strayed from: The title describes the show.

Simpons, sucks now, in my opinion. But I can't lie and say that the stories aren't about the Simpsons. They are! And that's good.

South Park tells the story of these 4 kids and their adventures in or because of South Park. Even when they go somewhere else, the show still has these kids as the focus.

Family Guy can have episodes completely devoted to nonsense that doesn't even fit into the realm of what has been described to us. Stewie, Brian and Frank Sinatra Jr. owning a club? That's not funny. That doesn't even sound intelligent or creative. A dog, baby and obscure musician try to run a nightclub? That doesn't even make sense.

It honestly seems like Manatees pick out ideas for Family Guy, by placing "idea balls".

Gawd this show sucks so bad now. That was one of the worst episodes I have ever seen.

*Sigh*

It wasn't all-time bad, but damn this show is becoming difficult to watch.
