What Happend to Family Guy?

the only parts I laughed at were the promos they had at the bottom of the screen. The shoving buddies promo was pretty funny.

I would have laughed at that had I not seen that exact same joke on SNL the night before.

Has the episode of Bones with Stewie in it aired yet? Cause... it'd be funny to see FG make that show jump the shark.

Why do they always have to over do a joke? I would have liked that Alan Rickman joke if they had just done it one time around.

This episode was by far the WORST one I have ever seen. Arent there supposed to be jokes in this show? And they use to do a one joke overkill but now it's like 3 jokes per episode go on 2 minutes longer then need be. The Rickman bit was funny at first but they killed it when he kept calling back. Same with the bottom of the screen promos. That one was by far the worst.

1st of all they already DID that joke and did it better. (Marge at the bottom of the screen) and secondly it would have been way better if it was still 1997 when fox did that crap ad nausum.

yea, TBS does it now, especially with "My Boys"

god I hate that crap, will be watching Seinfeld or Family Guy reruns and that crap ass cast from "My Boys" will pop up at the bottom of the screen shoving each other around just like "Shoving Buddies" <~~which WAS funny, giving credit where credit is due

Decent ideas, but joke overkill ...again.

I remember being of the impression, from the descriptions, that the last two episodes of the season looked to be pretty good. I was wrong.

If next season's premiere with Something, Something, Something Dark Side is as asstastic as most of the recent stuff, I'm going to be done with this show, outside of the syndicated eps ...when it was actually good.

Whoa! Lets keep the hate focused now. My Boys is actually a good show.

Because the writers arent smart enough to fill a damn running time for an episode, so they rely on dragging a joke out to the point where a joke that could've been somewhat funny just gets damn annoying (evidence: Everytime a character is running and falls down and then goes on to spend about 90 seconds going "Oooh! Oow! Aah! Oww!")

Anytime they do a joke that lasts longer than one minute, I'm tempted to not just turn the channel, but to hunt Seth McFarlane down, sedate him and tie him to a tree in the middle of a deserted forest.

so was last night's episode the season finale? if so...then that sucked.

What was the joke?

lol Kenan as Charles Barkley is pretty good.

What was the joke?
They were doing TBS basketball commentating and Will Ferrel kept popping up for another tv show at the bottom. Like every 1 minute the commentator would plug the show. Kenan as Charles was ****ishly plugging it and saying how much he loved it...it was funny.

nvm...they posted a clip.

Just watched the SNL skit you posted and its a million times funnier the the FG gag was (especially "Is Mark in this part? I miss Mark." lmao)

The season final is on tonight and has Eminem as the guest.

And you want to talk crappy finals, Last nights King of the Hill was the last one ever and boy what a horribly s**tty way to end the show.

Yeah. Hank feuding with a Canadian, and Boomhauer falling in love with a Canadian woman.

I had no problem with Boomhaure falling in love with someone and settling down (as thats a plot thread that should be tied up in a final) but everything else was crap. I picutre a KOTH final being 2-3 parts to properly tie everything up and have it end with a voice over from Bobby in the future who is now a successful comedian and as if the series was him recounting his childhood.

^If Wikipedia is to be trusted, then Fox has apparently ordered two extra episodes to give King of the Hill a chance to have a proper finale.

this just sounds like something that's too good to be true and not something FOX would do

If memory serves me correct, Fox has actually canceled King of the Hill before only to bring it back. So I could imagine them ordering two more episodes to "wrap up" the series. Although I always got the impression Judge & Co. would probably treat the series finale like any other episode.

Despite a mediocre to down right bad season 7, this would be awesome if it happens.:up:

"Family Guy" exec producer Seth MacFarlane is taking on the live-action Emmy establishment.

Believing that this may be the year an animated series finally breaks through the Emmy glass ceiling, MacFarlane plans to submit "Family Guy" in the comedy category.

It's the second year in a row that "Family Guy" has attempted to go up against shows such as "The Office" and "30 Rock." But last year, "Family Guy" did so only because of a loophole that allowed the show to also compete in the animated category. The "Star Wars" parody "Family Guy: Blue Harvest" was eligible for a toon Emmy, giving the show a shot at both.

This year, with no similar special in its arsenal, MacFarlane and company decided "Family Guy" should still go up against TV's other big laffers.

"We don't produce our show the that way 'SpongeBob' does," MacFarlane said. "We're much more analogous to traditional sitcoms. Our writers don't come from animation; they come from comedies. I hear people all the time tell me that they love 'The Office,' '30 Rock' and our show. Then why are we not all competing in the same world?"

Other animated series, including "The Simpsons," have attempted to break the live-action dominated comedy category in the past to no avail.

MacFarlane was bullish on the idea after "Family Guy" came close last year to a comedy nomination.

The show actually made it to the list of top 10 finalists in the category last year -- a feat that other well-regarded laffers such as "How I Met Your Mother" didn't pull off -- but didn't make the ultimate list of five nominees.

"I suspected we wouldn't make the top five last year, but that was a big step," he said.

This year, the TV Academy has expanded the number of nominees in its top categories from five to six, meaning there's even a greater possibility that "Family Guy" will make the final cut. Plus, fewer sitcoms on the air mean there could very well be an opening for "Family Guy."

" 'Family Guy' is easily one of the top five funniest comedies on television," said 20th Century Fox TV chairman Dana Walden. "We were happy to support Seth's decision to submit it there."

"Family Guy" actually wouldn't be the first animated series to compete against a live-action comedy. In 1961, "The Flintstones" was up for the humor program Emmy but lost to "The Jack Benny Show."

Since then, however, no animated series has ever made it back -- and none in the modern era of primetime animation, which started with "The Simpsons" in 1990.

MacFarlane admits that, as one drawback of the decision to enter in the comedy realm, the show's animators won't be able to compete for an Emmy. But, he noted, "Family Guy" hadn't been getting much love in the animation category anyway.

"We've been so conspicuously absent from the animation nomination for so many years," he said. "A lot of the artists felt like 'It doesn't matter, they're ignoring us anyway.' "

MacFarlane's other primetime animated series, "American Dad," won't follow "Family Guy's" lead just yet, however.

To promote MacFarlane's attempts at breaking down the barriers, 20th is taking a page from Barack Obama's history-making presidential run. The studio's "Family Guy" Emmy campaign centers on homicidal toddler Stewie, who shows up in a poster similar to the famous one created by Shepard Fairey for Obama. The tagline? "Vote for Change."

"The thinking behind it was somewhat allegorical to Obama," MacFarlane said. "Let's break some new ground here. The goal here is to generate an understanding in the TV Academy on this."
