Comics what happened to spider-mans new powers?

I liked the new powers till i had to remember why he got them. Honestly i was the pro guy for the new temp suit and story changes. But now...........

Now you might as well throw him back in his red and blue and forget about the powers because it wouldn't make a difference.

i've read some of the clone saga... compared to how i feel about spidey today they can make a new clone saga and i'd be on board. i'm really starting to hate marvel. they need to boot Joe Q like they did Tommy D

I've been saying boot Joe Q for years. He's a terrible editor. I've said it before and I'll say it again. "All the fans know we hate what's happened to Spider-man in the last few years and do they do anything about it? No. They make him even worse." I miss the Lee/Romita days where you didn't have to worry about unexplained new powers.

Have they actually admitted theyre gettin rid of the new powers?? the stingers are popped in friendly... 6? yeah think so. the night vision would come in handy, but its the speed and greater spider-sense that NNEDS to be kept. otherwise theyd be gettin rid of some worthwhile powers and thats just silly. the organic webbing could stay as well, cos we could see pete after 48hours up fighting bad guys losing that ability mid-swing (til he gets some sleep etc), movie stylie -- ie. more problems for old webhead

They aren't the focus of the storyline so far. And contrary to popular belief, editorial staffs don't keep changing ideas because a few people scream on message boards. I love this whole idea "if we close our eyes it will go away" crap. I see it on every board when people disagree with changes. Hey, if they don't SAY they're gonna change it, don't assume they're gonna change it. People are doing a good job twisting what was said about getting Spidey back to his roots. That has NOTHING to do with undoing anything. Just something to keep in mind.

And why are people so damn SCARED of every concept they don't agree with or like? I don't like everything either, but I sure don't stick my head up my ass and say "it'll just go away because I think so."

You know, maybe we should just keep buying the book, no matter how much we dislike it! That way, marvel will see that they can never gt rid of the TRIE fans, and then, they will make the storylines better as a way to reward fans for their loyalty!!

Or, we could vote with our wallets, buy stuff we like, and ignore stuff we don't like. Whether it changes anything or not, I don't give a damn. They aren't going to get my money just because they happen to own the rights to my favorite character(s). That's stupid.

So, I will go away until the storyline changes to somethign that interests me. So far, nothing is clicking with me, so I've dropped the Spidey titles. I'll check back, and when it gets good again, I'll come back.

Hey Quesada, how's things?

Oops! Mis-read that post about the stingers being "popped" in FNSM #6.

Sorry! :o

I see no reasons to keep the stingers. The stingers are weapons that are ment to seriously harm a fellow. Spider-man doesnt kill so he shouldnt have them.

All the other powers were things that they can keep but no writer would really waste a page to have pete say "ah yes my night vision and wind on my hairs are moving......"

Oh but remember the power he got with his organics. The talk to insects thing. WTF happened to that? It was gone like the next issue.

It's like the other never happened.

Then, why give him the new powers in the first place... If he's not gonna use them... If it was that way Sins Past, and Teh Pooper wouldn't have happened... OK I'm closing my eyes are you gone? Or they're twisting themself enough to be ambivalent ...

Why are you so DAMN SCARED of people who hate the crap that Marvel's trying to feed us? So far you've been with a ride everything out 'tude... that sounds weird almost perverted... Now I'm curious... What you haven't liked so far? So far the only ones with their heads up their asses are Joseph Michael Straczynski and Joe Quesada... and that's their mantra towards spider-fans...

Final thoughts: Don't throw rocks if you have a glass roof... Know your Spidey history if you want to write Spider-man. Don't create powers that you're not going to use...
Take Care of yourselves and each other

As far as giving him new (or not so new) powers, I'm guessing the editorial staff is setting up different storylines for the future (for instance, where is this 'other' female running around, what will she be doing?) Sure, I had a typical kneejerk reaction to the 'unmasking' too. But then I started thinking, what the hell? They've written themselves into a corner, now lets see them write their way out. I can even see an all out brawl in the superhero community, some being called traitors and even guilt playing a factor. Who will betray who? And when you break it down, what's the LONG TERM deal going on here?

I was kind of hoping they'd make his powers a bit more practical also, but this doesn't mean I don't like the CONCEPT of the other and what was attempted. Short of everyone writing their own comic, everyone ain't gonna be happy. So live with the "WTF?" moments until this stuff starts to make sense.

hopefully the same place where baby may is running... or crawling... I'd rather sacrifice baby may, than have t3h 0t3hr return...

ALoha,
I'm getting that same picture. I was looking forward to an exploration of SPidey's powers old and new. Instaed, it's almost become a What If? situation.

Agreed. Have you noticed how Civil War as a whole, is flowing together quite smoothly, in regards to the main story and all the tie-ins?

It almost makes me think that The Other got started, then Millar or whoever came up with the Civil War concept, then everyone began thinking about THAT and sort of just tossed The Other together with very minimal effort, then forgot about it.

And you know what? That's ok with ME because i'd just as soon forget The Other happend if Marvel will.

Along these lines...whatever happened to that cocoon thing that was underneath the church in MK Spider-Man? That was like in part 11 of 'the other' and I have yet to see what becomes of that... whats up with that?

Nothing has happened with it. It hasn't been mentioned again since it happened. The entire concept of "The Other" was just a big waste of time. I'm pretty sure Marvel could have thought of some other way to get Spidey into that disgusting Iron Spidey costume.

Man, the Other really was a flop.
