What if Batman and Robin had been a huge hit ?

Burton did it right for the time. He had it appear like a comic, with a serious tone. And visually beautiful is a damn fine description.

I just love the look of Gotham in Returns. Still holds up perfectly today, my favorite Gotham so far:o

Tell me it isn't so...............do you really own the Batman Anthology??

That's like asking am I really a Batman fan? If you're into Batman and movies, it is a must. The price is worth it for the special features alone, as well as finally getting a good transfer compared to the crappy '97 DVD releases.

So shall I say, Burton's gotham FTW?

I liked Burton's Penguin, but wasn't a huge fan. I'm of the belief that Penguin does not deserve a "main villain" title. But I loved his Joker and Catwoman.

ya he is not Main villain material. But I really didn't care for return. Oh well sue me, I think thats why I went through a long not caring for the series and only the cartoon and comics.

I still remember the wonderful poster The Bat, The Cat, The Penguin, like some weird animalistic totem, and the snow, Burton can't shoot action but he sure knows how to shoot snow.

I've never posted in a moved thread before...

Nor have i made a thread.

Tim Burtons Batman films were great. For what they were, they were the greatest comic films ever (I'm using the words "were" here, so back off). Burton had/has a good vision of things in a gothic setting. The visuals, colors, and over all tone of '89 and Returns worked perfectly for Gotham. I don't even care that he changed a few minor aspects of characters in the films. The Penguin still looked, acted, and WAS the Penguin. Selina Kyle was Catwoman, and Bruce Wayne was Batman. So what if Danny Devito had flipper hands? It just added more to the character on "film" value. So Joker killed Bruces parents? It told a deeper story in the long run. If he did do a third film, So what if Harvey Dent/Two Face would have been black?? What are you? Racist? Burton would have made it work, and you would have worked it.

As for Shuemacher....It's really not his fault guys. He was just the fall back guy, and he gets the blame because it was in his so called hands. Warner Bros directed Shuemacher in how he directed Forever and B&R. WB wanted the colorful, campy, kiddie flick because they wanted the marketing to be wider. Take a look at some of Shuemachers films, he's not a campy guy. Batman Forever was a hit with many people. Batman and Robin...not so much. Shuemacher was just doing what he was told to do.

But those guys are in the past. Done and over with. Move on. We have Nolen to take care of things now. He's shown us what he can do and what he is doing with Batman. It's new and fresh. Warner Bros learned from their mistake with Forever and B&R that campy and silly just isn't what people want to see. Sure, the kids may want to see it...But their not paying for the tickets, their parents are. And besides, there are a way more adult fans than there are kid fans of Batman. Those kids who loved Batman and Robin have grown up and they more than likely love Batman Begins.

I don't know what my point was, but hope you enjoyed reading it. lol

The first time I saw Edward make the snow for Kim I cried.

I have that poster in a frame. It's in my closet. Thanks for reminding me that I have that Batman Returns poster. God, Michele Phiffer is so hot. Even today she's still hot. You guys need to check out Stardust.

I will say, joining these boards has made me realise what a huge Tim Burton fan I really am. Shoot, I have Zero tattooed on my body. And Jack is next.
