What is so wrong with eating...

Hmm, I guess folks are afraid of an ass whopping 'cause no one has said **** to me about it. :o

Nothin is wrong with it, I do it all the time! Matter of fact I feel weird if I don't have chopstick with it. Then again I was raised in dojo's and martial arts classes, asian culture was pluged in since I was 9.

The korean chick I see on and off....:p.....had a gathering at one of the local museums, and they served asian cuisine, and provided chopsticks and silverware. Everyone else was using them with ease, and I attempted at first to casually pick up my food with the sticks, and couldn't. I broke down and used the fork, and she's like, "good job, cause you were about to make a mess." :cmad:

My chinese or my Japanese food with chopsticks?! :cmad:

I'm so sick of people talking to me like I'm ******ed for doing it at home.
Theres really nothing wrong with it. If you enjoy eating chinese or Japanese food with chopsticks, hey go for it.

However, you may want to consider not mentioning that you eat with chopsticks at home anymore. Especially if it's seriously becoming a bother to you.

In all honesty, I thought this thread would have been reversed. I would imagine more people whining that someone DIDN'T eat their Asian food with chopsticks. I thought eating with chopsticks was the norm. All the people I know do it.

We want to eat something? We stab it, cut it, or scoop it. That's how we do it here in the USA motha****a!

USA! USA! USA!

You really have some bad manners.

Why does your family put up with you?

The first time my mom saw me eating Chinese food with chopsticks, she said "You are not East Asian." I replied "I'm not European, but I use their silverware every other time."

Most of my friends are Asian. One time, they took me to a restaurant that served their food Hong Kong style (plates of food all in the center of the table, grab what you want onto your plate). They tried to give me silverware, and gave everyone else chopsticks. I ended up trading with my friend who can't use chopsticks to save his life.

I had a friend at work, every time we ordered chinese food, he'd eat it with chopsticks. Then he would ask my why I WASN'T using chopsticks. I told him I like using a fork. He starts acting all smug, "I'll teach you how to use chopsticks". I tell him I know how to use them, but I prefer to use a fork. This is an on going conversation, and I keep telling him that I know how to use them. I demonstrated to him that I do know how to use them. Yet, everytime we order chinese food, he still tells me that I should use them. He'll even go so far as to tell me the history of chopsticks and why the Chinese use it over a knife and fork. It annoys me how pretentious and worldly he thinks he is, even though he's a dumb redneck and has never been more than 50 miles away from the redneck town he was born and raised. Moral of the story, all I use chopsticks for is to drum on my desk :)

I like how one comedian put it, "Eating with chopsticks makes as much sense as bailing hay with two pool cues."
