What Makes Ant-Man Worthy of a Solo?

Ant-man was a reasonably successful movie that probably would've been even better were it not for the behind the scenes bickering between Wright and Marvel.

Agree with the rest of your post but disagree on the quoted bit. I think the bickering was basically an issue of time and the fact that Wright was sitting on the project for years and Marvel had already accomodated his schedule by delaying introducing Antman to Phase 2 and that too post Avengers 2, instead of their original plan of Avengers 1. And honestly, as good as Edgar Wright is, I don't see his version being all that better than what we got. Coz I love that movie. :)

As I understood it, Wright was also resistant to the movie having direct ties to the rest of the MCU and really, really didn't want to include the Wasp at all, whereas Marvel obviously wanted to build her up for future movies, which was part of the reason we got the (IMO stupid) compromise position of introducing Hope, going out of the way to make her seem like hero material, providing literally the perfect opportunity for her to be one and then not letting her be a hero in the end, anyway.

I forgot the interview where Feige talked about the issue, so I'm doing this from memory. But it seemed to hint that Feige and Marvel were sort of annoyed on how long Edgar Wright was taking on the script, and it took him about six years or so to make the test footage.

Edgar Wright had been working on Ant-Man back when Michael Douglas was in the Streets of San Francisco. They planned to have him team up with Lou Ferrigno's Hulk and Nicholas Hammond's Spider-Man back in the 1970s, but obviously that time passed by and they eventually became too old.

Wright takes so long on a script and making a film that it's a small wonder that he didn't have to rename his recent heist movie "Adult Driver." :o

Nah.. that is the sequel and by the time it comes out, it will be "Old Man Driver"..

They'll continue the story with his Dr. Evil clone and call it "Mini Driver".

Sorry about that.

Lol.. good stuff. Edgar Wright takes so long to write his movies that if he had written X-Men Origins: Wolverine, it would have ended up being Old Man Logan.
