What manga/Anime title will Hollywood **** up next?

Well it's hard to take something from animation and make it live action, even harder when it's from another country. Speed Racer was pretty spot on in sillyness. Even live action Anime that Japan makes isn't a 100% true version of the show.

Not in all cases, if the director respects the source material, and pays close attention to character details and what not, the transition will be smooth. It's possible to take an anime and translate it over to live action, just has been done successfully yet.

I really want Evangelion to get made. It'd be tricky to adapt and they'd probably end up having to make changes in order to make it more palatable for general audiences (even in Japan, the End of Evangelion movie was met with a lot of controversy amongst fans), but I think it's still perfectly do-able as long as they have the right creative team. I know that Richard Taylor from Weta is still passionate about making it happen, and I know that ADV (who own the movie rights) could really use the money right now, but right now it's not even a blip on the radar. About once a year someone from ADV will come along and say "We're still working on it" or "We've got a big name director signed on," but it really doesn't mean diddly squat until a studio gives them the green light.

Old post of mine with animes I'd like to see made into a live action flick.

Gungrave in Martin Scorsese's hands (The Departed, The Goodfellas) or Alex Proyas's hands (The Crow, Dark City)

Peacemaker Kurogane in Edward Zwick's hands (The Last Samurai)

Fullmetal Alchemist in Peter Jackson's hands (Lord of the Rings, King Kong)

Afro Samurai or Samurai Champloo in Quentin Tarantino's (Kill Bill) hands

I dropped Naruto from the list because I rather not see Hollywood touch it at all.

Hollywood doesnt look at anime as something special, they just see all of that as quick cash ins. I remember when I watched the live action version of Fist of the North Star, instantly pissed.

That Fist Of The North Star movie was terrible. I haven't seen speed racer, Guyver movies where ok as was crying freeman. I can't really think of any really good hollywood adaptations of anime.

I too think Cowboy Bebop would work really well in real life. At least the main character is already white, and they won't have to change as Asian guy into a white guy in order to risk "alienating" the US audience (a total BS assumption, IMO).
Haha true, but it's ok to alienate the rest of the world.....:cwink:

I wouldn't mind seeing [preferably GOOD] adaptations of Dominion Tank Police and/or Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040.
