Stop this madness! And most certainly no X Babies, they're annoying enough on paper!

Nononononononnonononnononononononnonononononnonononononono!

It'd be a total waste for them to do a parody character like Spider-ham. Rocket Raccoon or Howard the Duck would be cool though. The best part is that I can't see RR working in a live action film as well as he would a cartoon, but as an actions packed Pixar Space adventure? That'd be awesome. RR deserves more attention too IMO

Marvel allegedly is developing a Guardian's of the Galaxy movie. I would love to see Rocket lead that team ;D Live action or CGI.

I think part of the issue is that, while Pixar does amazing things, they don't really do films that match the style and feel of Marvel stories.

Perhaps the real question should be: Should Pixar spin off a Marvel animated division?

I think what most of us really want is to see the very high quality animation that Pixar can do applied to Marvel properties.

I can imagine an entirely new unit that would create animation up to the quality of the visuals we grew up with in Marvel Comics. I think the technology may be there and, if done right with the proper care and budget, it could be as revolutionary as the original Toy Story was at its time and spawn a whole new generation of animated films.

. . . but Pixar really does a different type of film - closer to modern interpretations of Disney type films than animation that suits Marvel - so maybe it should be a whole new company (or division within the existing companies) that focuses on bringing marvel characters to the big screen as very high quality animation.

Pixar basically invented a whole new genre that has now spread to other studios and I think what I would really like to see is another whole new genre (as opposed to either Marvel or Pixar bending from their normal style to fit the other).

Not exactly, many of their movies are really different, i think Incredibles and Wall-E are examples of how they can make a good Marvel movie

A lot of people point to the Incredibles as an example of how they could do the FF or other heroes, but I strongly disagree.

The Incredibles was a comedy and satire of comic books and superhero/action films. Sure, it had a decent story, but there were laughs throughout. And not just laughs based on the interactions of the characters (as you will have in any goood, serious story) but laughs based on slapstick and goofy characters and situations.

Visually, the characters are exaggerated and don't look anything like real people, but are, instead, cartoonish.

And while you can point to a number of different themes and settings of the Pixar films, they all share the element of goofy comedy. Sure, they also have touching and poignent moments, but the stories and visuals always lean much more toward the comedic than any proper Marvel film should do.

Pixar's style has been all over the place since it's inception and their filmmakers are certainly versatile enough to take a wack at any of the lighter properties in the poll.

I don't see that style or storytelling is any barrier for this union.

I don't necessarily disagree that some Marvel properties are too "dark" to adapt in a Pixaresque manner (depending on the story). But I would be excited to see the fusion of these two companies creatively.

I have no doubt they could do it if they chose to, but it doesn't really fit the Pixar 'Brand'.

And I think there's a value to having known brands that viewers can understand. When someone goes to a Pixar film, they know they're going to get a certain type of film. Could Disney animators make an animated Avengers flick? Sure, and it would probably be really cool, but it wouldn't be 'Disney'. It would have a different feel.

I say take 10 guys from Pixar, set them up with a new division such as 'Marvel Animated Feature Films' and let them focus on creating their own style of 3D animated films that fit the look and feel of the Marvel Universe. Then they won't have to worry about trying to please the viewers who will be looking for a different type of film when they go to a Pixar production.

If you want to take your 6 year old to a movie that you can enjoy and they can giggle through, go to a Pixar film. If you want a film that depicts a world of superheroes battling to save the planet and bring the comic books of your youth to life, go to a MAFF film.

When I was a kid, we had "Harvey Comics" that featured Casper, Richie Rich, Baby Huey etc. and then we had Marvel Comics. They had very different styles and served different audiences and I'd imagine the two-brand approach to offer that sort of choice.

I wouldn't mind actually seeing a Power Pack adaptation.

Out of the choices, I think Pet Avengers or Spider-Ham. As much as I'd like to see a GOOD Howard the Duck movie, his character is a little too adult for Pixar.

Howard the Duck featuring Man-Thing! :hyper:

Power Pack is the obvious choice and it would fit Pixar perfectly. Kid friendly and they can take the story in any direction they choose including making it more comedic in nature as Power Pack is not a well known group even in comic book circles.

A Guardians of the Galaxy with Rocket Raccoon is also a good idea.

This is a great point... thank you for these observations. I genuinely feel smarter.

Great idea!! Maybe they can make it a musical. Can Randy Newman write a song about revenge and grenade launchers?
