What do you think would be best release month for WOLVERINE? A Summer release? Holiday release, etc?

January
February
March
April
May
June
July
August
September
October
November
December

 :) :D

I know this looks long but check my thoughts

I say mix it up...give Wolvie a fall release in November...if its a darker movie than the X-men movies, then a summer release may be kind of misleading and could hurt its appeal...so either spring or fall...but not summer...there will be lots of competition and Hugh may not be able to carry this character without the inclusion of the other team mates and big actors that X-men had...not that Wolverine won't have talented people in it...but it is Hugh's movie...so he'll be the main attraction...if they throw us off and release it in a very un-X-men-like time slot...people will already start to think this is gonna be different...and the reason i say fall is because, we almost never get a good action or comic book genre movie around this time...studios always try to combat the traditional family friendly or oscar hopeful movies that get released this time of year by putting out a horror movie or an action movie because they know there are almost no other movies of this kind out. But they usually fail by releasing something half assed like Blade Trinity or Aeon Flux....So...releasing it in November would ensure financial success timed with Thanksgiving weekend and if the movie ends up being awesome....which, in itself would be friggin awesome if it is...then it will also have legs and last as far as Christmas week for some additional bizness...much like X3 hitting the mark with Memorial Day...and now look, it will last untill July
4th and see a minor boost...minor but much appreciated. So...theres my logic...ofcourse I also mean to say that really anything but a summer release would be better for this movie...but preferabley NovemberDecemberish.

I can see a Winter release rather than a summer release.

Of course, they could carry on the May tradition.

Probably early May, but I wouldn't mind a winter release.

(Hi ant!:D)

If Ghost Rider kicks butt in February 2007 then give Wolverine the same slot in 2008.

Marvel won't double dip themselves. Iron Man has May 2008 locked up. Batman is due out that summer as well and Punisher 2 may hit in there somewhere.

Now that it's coming out in 2007. I hope it's a late winter release so they can have more time making it the best they can.

Fox is gonna want to give Wolverine an early summer release, but if the movie is darker, and possibly R-rated, it would fit better in late summer--late July or some time in August.

Since we now know that "Wolverine" is infact coming next year, and they haven't begun filming yet, I would say a late October/November release is most likely.

December though i'd rather have it in 2008

Ant, you must be telepathic. Less than a day after you started this thread Fox say they're going to release it in 2007.

Well, let's see what other Marvel movies we have to deal with next year:

-Ghost Rider- February

-Spider-Man 3- May

-Fantastic Four 2- July

So, I think Wolverine should come out in November like Fanticon said. But knowing Fox, it'll be in June.

I'm just wondering how long that 2007 release is going to hold...anything could happen...and if you ask me its a mistake...so if it is 2007 than they need as much time as possible to do it right...so I still say November or December...but if its 2008...then I also say keep it that way and read my other post on why.

I hate when studios annouce release dates before filming begins. Anything can happen. Granted, It just has to focus on Wolverine, which shouldn't be too hard, given the X-Men franchise's lopsided focus on him. Effects don't have to be up to the level of X-Men, depending on the other mutants that might be in the film (if any) and what powers they might have. If Wolverine's the only superhuman element, all the better.

Spidey 3 and Transformers are hogging some of the plum dates.

What about Aug like T3, Miami Vice and, er, whatever came out in Aug in 2004 and 2005.

Next year Spider-Man 3 & POTC 3 get a May release.

This year it where MI-3 and X-men 3.

With Mi3 there making a litle mistake with releasing the movie in May and not in July like there did with the first 2 movie´s in The Netherlands.

But for Spider-Man 3,i understand a litle bit that there choose for May and not July. Spider-Man is also normaly a July movie, but July 2007 is much populair.

Also Dreamworks skipt the normaly the begin May (Shrek) or July (shrek 2) release for Shrek: The Third to 21 June 2007. One weak Earlyer on 14 June Ocean's Thirteen.

So May,June and July are there enough movie´s.

In March we have Ghostrider and Bean 2 and in April Rocky 6,beside´s that April is not a good month for a comic (February & March also) and not a comic movie in April is better.

So i should say 5 October 2007 for Wolvarine,3 weaks before Topkapi Affair (Thomas Crown Afair 2),who i expect at the end of October 2007.

In August or September i expect it Rush Hour 3,so mabey Magneto can be coming out in August also. In the second weak of September 2007 we get Born 3. 24 January 2008 with National Treasure 2 against it if National Treasure 2 don´t release on 06 December 2007 but on 10 January 2008. Mabey there can releasd Magneto on 6 or 13 December 2006. Magneto can coming out in the third weak of April 2008 on dvd,So i voted for 13 December 2007,2 month´s after Wolvarine.

As I said in other threads, this movie won't be in theaters before at least 2008 - Hugh is doing his arena tour in August-September, he's filming "The Tourist" starting in October, and the Australian Baz Luhrmann movie starting in February, which is rumored to take six months. So you are talking about filming not until probably next June-July at the earliest, maybe even later.

"Wolverine" spinoff of "X-Men" planned Thu Jun 29, 2006 10:25 AM BST

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Twentieth Century Fox plans to keep the mutants coming with a spinoff of its popular "X-Men" film franchise starring Australian-born actor Hugh Jackman in the title role of "Wolverine."

A studio spokesman confirmed on Wednesday that the film is in development with a script currently in the works but no director yet on board.

Although initial reports from the international industry conference Cine Expo in Amsterdam suggested the film was slated for a 2007 release, the Fox spokesman said it was doubtful the picture would be ready before 2008, in part because Jackman is expected to do another movie first for director Baz Luhrmann.

I think June 2008 would be good if what the Fox Spokesperson that is quoted above said is true.

Don't know for sure...maybe in June or July.
