What movie would you like to see being remade the most out of 20 older movies i have decided to poll. I am not a big expert on really old films. So most of mine will be between 1970 -1990 but a couple well known movies may make the poll . Now i don't men a tv remake of these films. I mean a big screen adaptation.

1 M.A.S.H.
2 Ghostbusters.
3 The 10 Commandments.
4 The Wizard Of OZ.
5 Clash Of The Titans.
6 Masters Of the Universe- He-man.
7 Stripes.
8 Police Academy.
9 Smokey and the Bandit.
10 The Beastmaster.
11 Excalibur.
12 Treasure Island.
13 Robin Hood.
14 The Three Muskateers.
15 Blazzing Saddles.

Ghostbusters?? HELL NO!!!!! aint no one touching that.

I definately agree with 4 and 6. 2 COULD work if they got a decent cast together and a good director. And I'd like to add A Clockwork Orange to that list.

On the list, only Excalibur and Clash of the Titans.

I would really like to see a fairly faithful following of Boorman's Excalibur though with better FX, and maybe tweaking a few things here and there.

I would like Mordred's role beefed up. I loved his golden armor, but I liked the more manipulative Mordred in the miniseries Mists of Avalon. And extend Arthur and Mordred's final battle.

As for Clash of the Titans, it is begging to be remade with CGI. It was a FX spectacle back in the day, and it would be cool to see a CGI Kraken, Pegasus, Medusa, etc.

The Last Starfighter

of the movies listed he-man
i'd like to see a remake of the jaguar lives, myself

There have been plenty of Robin Hood, Three Musketeers and Treasure Island movies. We don't need more of them.

As for the other films, why?

Stripes, MASH, Police Academny, Blazing Saddles, Ghostbusters, Smokey and the Bandit are all great movies, why remake them?

If they're not broke, don't **** them up with a needless remake

Movies that do need improving and not just in the special effects sense. Remake some mediocre films, that way filmmakers have something to improve on.

MASH doesn't need improving. Ghostbusters doesn't need improving. Blazing Saddles doesn't need improving. Police Academy doesn't need improving, though you can forget about half the sequels.

Christ, there's another thread about a remake of Kurosawa's "Seven Samurai". That certainly doesn't need improving.

Well, uh Smokey and the Bandit was re-imagined in the 90s as simply "Bandit".

But yeah, movies like Stripes, Ghostbusters and Blazing Saddles. You can't remake those. These movies in particular were just very reliant on the cast and the fact that the stories weren't as important as the execution of the comedy. That can't be remade. MASH is too time-specific. And even if you maintain the time period, Nothing you can do can really improve upon it or do it justice.

Roles of a remake for me go like this:

*Original can be no younger than fifteen years old.
*If the original played it straight, the remake must play it straight (ie, no "comedic" version)
*NO shot-for-shot!! I can't think of nothing more unimaginative than a shot for shot remake (yeah, I'm talking to you Gus Van Sant's Psycho!).
*Leave Japan alone. We used them for A-Bomb target practice, now we wanna ape their horror movies?!? This also ties back to rule number one.

Exactly. Nobody could come close to the original cast

not on the list..but someone mentioned a Clockwork Orange... i'd love to see a remake of that, if done well, and truer to the book. I was disappointed by the original movie....

Nothing. We get too many damn remakes already.

And to heck with those who want Clash Of Titans remade. To heck with all of you!

If done faithfully, yeah. Expanding on characterizations a bit would help, just so long as they don't turn Guinevere into this long-winded feminist stuck in the dark ages type. Good luck finding another actress who looked as good naked in the forest as Cherie Lunghi did.

All of those movies should be left alone. Clash would be nice with today's tech, but He-Man is clearly the obvious choice.
