Movies you missed during their theatrical run but would like to see on the big screen

Gone With the Wind
The Wizard of Oz
Jaws

I'd love to see Gone With the Wind on the big screen.

I saw Wizard of Oz during a re-release a few years back and it was really cool.

I also got to see a big-screen version of The Sound of Music, but it was the sing-along version...and alcohol was served beforehand. :oldrazz:

I saw Gone With the Wind (for he first time ever) in a theater on Valentines Day two years ago with my then girlfriend, now wife. It was great.

Jaws would have been fantastic to see back when it first came out

Jurassic Park. I would love to see that one on the big screen, because when it originally came out, I was 5 and my parents didn't want to take me because they thought I would be too scared. Telling a 5 year old boy that they can't go see a movie about dinosaurs is like telling a 5 year old boy that Christmas is cancelled and they won't have a birthday again.

As a second choice, maybe I'd pick Batman (1989). I was lucky enough to see the original Star Wars films when they were re-released in 1997, and I'm planning on seeing them again when they are released in 3D.

I think T2 was my first rated-r theater experience, and I was born in 1983. I guess my dad just really wanted to take us. Also, he did take us to a Nightmare on Elm Street movie at the drive in, so I have no idea how young I was then:

Boy, they took you to a rated R film when you were quite young. I wish my parents had been more understanding like that. Then I might have been able to see Terminator 1 in the theaters in 1984 when I was 9. Unfortunately, my dad went to it and decided to leave me behind since he thought I was too young to see it. My first rated R film experience would have to wait another 3 years when Predator came out.

I think mine was Aliens, when I was 12. Loved that movie.

The first Terminator movie I saw in theaters was T2, I was in high school when that came out and it opened with 9pm shows the night before opening day, so I saw it then. Same thing when Jurassic Park opened.

I remember waiting on line for first showing of Jurassic Park, and the line was so long that a guy working there was yelling how "There's going to be another Star Wars movie in a few years, and I will NOT be working here when that happens!"

I saw that guy working there through all three Special Edition releases in 1997, and the midnight show of TPM in 1999. :oldrazz:

I so wish I had seen Attack the Block at the Alamo Drafthouse. The would have been an amazing shared experience with an audience.

T2 is pretty tame for an R rated movie, save for some of the T-1000 kills and the cursing. I think I saw it for the first time when I was 10.

Close Encounters of the Third Kind
Lawrence of Arabia
2001 A Space Odyssey
Dr Zhivago
Star Wars (1977 Theatrical)
Superman The Movie

Oh geez :lmao::lmao:. Must add The Sound of Music to my list too, i knew i'd forgotten one!

You make me feel old lol. I saw it several times on the big screen when it was released. I remember the very first time i went with my sisters and when we got inside the car we were shouting and on the lookout for a T-Rex imagining it would come and chase us :hehe:. Needless to say we had a blast.

Just watched the last Harry potter on blu ray last night. Still mad at mysel for missing that on the big screen.

I noticed many here missed out on the first Terminator, I was lucky enough back in 1984 at the tender age of 8 to see it back then, all I remember before seeing it is that clips on TV had Arnold in full T-800 makeup which I thought was cool and you have to remember that Arnold wasn't a superstar yet with only having Conan The Barbarian come out.

But luckily for me my dad was into action movies too so one Sunday morning we go check it out, good times.

Oh, you haven't lived until you've seen the sing-along Sound of Music. :funny:

Everyone has to stand for the wedding, boo the Baroness, do all kinds of shout-outs during the movie. It's like a G-rated Rocky Horror.

But it was the only time I've ever gotten to see it on the big screen, so it was still fun.

I saw Jurassic Park a few times in the theater too. That was like a roller-coaster ride in the theater. The best part was that they never showed the dinosaurs in the trailers or TV spots before it was released, so everyone was seeing it for the first time. People were freaking out at some of those scenes.

And during that long, loving pan of the Jurassic Park gift shop, the guys behind us yelled "MOICHENDISING!" from Spaceballs. :funny:

Apparently there's going to be a theatrical re-release of the new Lawrence of Arabia restoration for the Blu-Ray release. ****ing HYPE.

All the movies of the 80s and all the hits of early 90s dude. God, I missed a lot lol.
