What next for the WWE, does it have a reason to exist?

I watched a recent PPV online, The Great American Bash.

And one of the problems it seems to me that the WWE currently has is, its PPV matches are too short. The reason they are too short is because of the brand splitting, I think. They have two main events in one PPV... so niether one is really much of a highlight.

What was the last PPV you watched? I remember staying up late to watch them live in the UK as the time difference kept me awake till 5am. A good 3 to 4 hours of fun back then.

WWE had good intentions but it's had negative side-effects. They wanted to have stars travel and work less, which is essential to their health. However, it's watered down the quality of the shows. WWE should end the split and highlight different feuds/storylines each week. Just because wreslter X or angle Y has the fans interested doesn't mean it needs airtime on every broadcast.

The split

Is that the RAW - smackdown split?

the split i don't mind.....just cut the PPV's down to about 10 a year...i'd be good with that

Way to much pro. wrestling. It's just pathetic in my opinion.

hmm..let's see...we have the WWE(which airs all over the us and canada also overseas), TNA (airs in the us) ROH (slowly growing on the eastern seaboard)
CZW(independent promotion)...not to mention the organizations in both mexico and japan (new japan and all japan) and the numerous indy feds throught the United States....i don't think that's too much at all. Face it Whirly....you've lost the War for Decency...

"Too much wrestling" is an impossibility. Well said, BL.:woot:

wrestling has its highs and lows . you cant watch one promotion and determine thats all there is to offer and that is the state of professional. wrestling . pro-wrestling entertains millions of people weekly . all over the world. that is not pathetic.

could you imagine if wirly saw any CZW deathmatch stuff? or IWA-MS deathmatch stuff? wow.

I just don't like this made up stuff. I'm off to watch the UFC at the O2 arena on Saturday night. As an adult I shall enjoy some good clean real violence from skilled combatants in a cage under rules. No stupid, childish storylines. No bodybuilders taking more steroids than an average cow (although i'm sure some UFC Fighters are on gear) it's not as obvious and not really for small children waving banners as they watch a "diva" get humiliated in some way.

I think i'd probably laugh at the sk8ter bois in these death matches jumping off ladders etc. and slapping each other.

Anyway their we go Sport Entertainment = :down
Sport = :up:

in my opinion

so straight up violence and a culture of "I know Martial Arts so I can beat people up" is ok....but "sports entertainment" isn't. As far as the divas....they are mostly beating on each other lately.....

For Adults, yes. If it's in a ring or cage under rules. I have no problem with Boxing and MMA both have worked hard to clean up their acts. They are not selling stories of people beating each other up in Locker rooms with Kendo sticks etc. I do have a problem with the Ultimate Fighter reality series and feel it is not very savoury and needs to go. It detracts from the sport but it's nothing like as unsavoury as Vince Mcmahons antics.

This show is actually one of the most watched programs on Spike Tv (the channel it airs on here in the U.S.) so it's not going anywhere. You probably remember my earlier posts regarding that show and I agree with you....it's on purely for entertainment purposes and makes the competitors in the UFC appear more meat-headed.

Wish they went back to just 5 PPVs but I understand the money can be there hence them amking it monthly

It does all those things and yes I do. It's sadly not going anywhere it's aired on Bravo here and is their top show I believe. Although Bravo is a despicable channel full stop. The only good thing is it does give us most UFC pay per views free. Although Saturdays is on Setanta which i do not subscribe to and as I live twenty minutes from the O2 Arena. I am going with a group friends.

If I wanted I would see these for free as I already subscibe to Sky Sports for real sport. I hate pro wrestling though so that option is wasted on me.

the UFC is just as accessible to children here as the WWE is. Certain fighters have athletic clothing lines which can be purchased in certain stores and there are a number of UFC video games as well.

Not in the U.K. and we are pretty strict over video games sales here. no it's not really aimed at kids, most kids find it boring because it is technical and requires some knowledge to understand and appreciate.
