What next for the WWE, does it have a reason to exist?

Not in the U.K. and we are pretty strict over video games sales here. no it's not really aimed at kids, most kids find it boring because it is technical and requires some knowledge to understand and appreciate.

Not here....Martial arts instruction is seeing a resurgence here in the States due to UFC. The Gracie family has franchise dojos (one of which is here in CT) and numerous other places offer MMA and other instruction (such as Krav Maga) and the like...

the UFC is just as accessible to children here as the WWE is. Certain fighters have athletic clothing lines which can be purchased in certain stores and there are a number of UFC video games as well.

It may even be moreso that WWE. I've seen an increasing number of mainstream sports coverage shows & magazines, like Sportcenter & SI, featuring detailed UFC segments/articles. As I'm into MMA, I like the exposure to the discipline of the arts but I'm also concerned that there isn't enough attention being given to MMA's effect on the very young. I'd like to see more disclaimers and WWE style "don't try this at home" messages.

yeah ufc has gotten bigger in the last couple of years

The UFC for instance provides real gladitorial spectacle, without the ludicrous soap opera. It has a far more wholesome image....
Are you saying that people actually fighting to cause bodily harm and/or render the opponant unconscious is more wholesome than the 'pretend' world of the WWE? That's mental.

Total mental

WING what's that?

It stands for Wrestling International New Generation. It's usually spelled W*ING for some reason. It was an ECW-like ( the old ECW) promotion in Japan, often featuring lengthy barbed-wire, weapons, street fights etc. It's defunct.

That could be. I haven't seen WING for years. I have a friend who has in excess of 2,000 wrestling DVD & tapes. I think I'll ask him to send me a few old WING matches to peruse.

Vince McMahon touched him inappropriately as a child and won't admit it, so he's just trying to destroy the WWF through a comic book message board (hey you gotta start somewhere, first the hype, then the world!)

Anybody who condemns wrestling for promoting violence to children and defends comic books in the same breath for their "moral messages" should really get their heads out of their rear ends and quit being so hypocritical.

Violence is only okay in the name of a "real sport"? Watching someone get beat up with fists in a boxing ring and octagon is okay, but a steel chair and kendo stick is when it becomes morally wrong? WTF!

Violence is violence. It doesn't matter what context it is in. It is both entertaining and morally questionable for all the same reasons. If wrestling is bad for kids, than so is an X-Men comic where Wolverine is cutting people up with his metal claws and drinking beer (and he's marketed to kids too).

I read the stupidity and hypocritisy from people like Whirlysplat and just laugh. You guys are too much.

Does the WWE have a reason to exisit?

Answer: So guys who are insecure with their sexuality can watch a soap opera without feeling like teh ghey :cwink:

That's why comic books exist as well. :cwink:

It's not stupidity or hypocrisy which is the correct way of spelling hypocritisy. I read hypocritisy and don't laugh, I just smile.
Real sport doesn't have gang beat downs and takes place only in the sporting area, i.e. ring or octagon etc. Wolverine doesn't kill his wife and kid. :) You don't see the UFC fighters pretending to beat up women.

Wolverine has killed innocent people though....not his wife and kid....but innocents none the less..

Wolverine hasn't killed anyone as he's not real. Chris Benoit "the rabid wolverine" was a different matter......:wow:

i dont even know how women can watch a soap opera

How come wrestlers are always chewing gum? All the time, they chew gum.

Even during a match, it looks like some of them have gum in their mouth.

It's not stupidity or hypocrisy

Yeah, it is.

Both wrestling and comics are violence marketed towards kids. You can't condemn one for it while praising the other for "moral lessons". Not unless you like being exposed as the hypocrite that you are.

Wolverine doesn't kill his wife and kid. :)

Not sure how that is supposed to invalidate the point I was trying to make, but whatever.

You don't see the UFC fighters pretending to beat up women.

How does that make their sport less violent? Especially when there is nothing that is pretend about it. It's all real. They are actually trying to beat one another into submission to prove their superiority.

Isn't that basically what the "might makes right" message means?

WWE exist to make Vince a billionaire. He doesn't care about quality anymore.
