The answer is Self-Explanatory. Please do not suggest Silver Surfer as he is with Fox and cannot cross-over into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Can a mod move this? I swore I posted this in general marvel films. How embarassing!

I think that a really good NOVA movie can be made. A strong theme of a youth who cannot seem to find his place in this world can underly the story. Chris Pine is a dead ringer for Richard Rider but unfortunately he played exactly the same role in the Star Trek reboot.

Unfortunately The Surfer begs to be the Marvel character best suited, as he really was the first cosmic being that appeared in their comics.

If that can't be, then i guess my next choice would be Captain Mar-Vell, however if Fox owns the Surfer, then they must own the Kree as well as that race also first appeared in Fantastic Four....

I guess Thanos makes the most sense. He first appeared in Iron Man, which Marvel obviously owns the movie rights to...

Captain Marvel ending with death + torch passing to Ms Marvel. That's a movie begging to be made.

Inhumans actually predated Silver Surfer (the first Inhumans arc ends in the same issue that the Galactus trilogy begins.)

I'm personally all for a Thanos/ Adam Warlock film, but I think it's a bit too heady for a Summer Blockbuster.

This sounds great. Wonder how people would feel about marvel making a film called captain MARVEL though

R Hythlodeus, Thor is the one that I am hoping for as well. I voted for Mar-vell among those listed, but the true jumping off point would fit best with the 9 Realms and beyond. Whoever they choose to use, using an established character to set the table would be similiar to how SHIELD was first introduced.

Marvel making a Captain Marvel film would be absolutely perfect. That's marketing synergy right there. On the other hand, WB/DC trying to put out a Captain Marvel movie would be something of a disaster since they can't legally use "Captain Marvel" in the title, and it would confuse people expecting a Marvel Films/Marvel Comics/MCU film.

Don't care. Silver Surfer. :o

No need for it to crossover at all, really.

Cosmic Marvel is the next phase of Marvel Films. Silver Surfer is the prisoner of Fox. If/when Fox get around to ****ing up the Surfer again, it ain't gonna be cosmic. Or Marvel. And thank the Cosmos that crap won't cross over into the MCU.

I mean that don't you think that a studio putting out a movie about a character with their name might by odd to some people? Or no? Captain marvel by marvel studios. Lol

It's been moved.

Adam Warlock's second appearance as "Him" was as a Thor villain before he was turned into his modern incarnation. Maybe they could make "Him" a being from one of the 90s realms, and spin off into an Adam Warlock film and thus get into the infinity gauntlet stuff down the road?

No. Captain Marvel = Marvel Comics. DC Comics took its name from Detective Comics and puts out a book by that same name. (Does it still? I don't like DC much so I don't know.) Disney owns the Disney Channel. Time/Warner publishes Time Magazine. This sort of thing happens often in the entertainment industry so it's not really odd at all.

While I don't think the name thing is a problem at all, I do think it's a bit problematic having one of the major milestones of your company being based around a character who died 30 years ago, and has more or less stayed dead.

Mar-Vell's lost a lot of the fame he once had now that nearly two generations of kids have grown up without the character.

Nova -> Star-Lord -> Dark Hawk -> GOTG (updated version)

Captain Marvell is too irrelevant now as Ms Marvel in return raised to prominence.

My vote goes to Adam Warlock.

Inhumans and GOTG has been mentioned alot by Feige. My vote goes to GOTG.

What?

I think DC has a bigger claim to the name Captain Marvel than Marvel does. "Shazam" Marvel was created in the 40s, long before Mar-Vell in the 60s; and, as mentioned before, Mar-Vell was only "big" in the 60s-80s, while various new "Captains" have taken up his rank in the decades since. Whereas "Shazam" Captain Marvel is still a going concern, even today.

Actually, it's DC's fault they can't use Captain Marvel's name. Captain Marvel was originally owned by Fawcett Comics, and was kicking Superman's ass in sales. Kicking so much ass that they felt the need to sue Fawcett for copyright infringement. Stating that Captain Marvel was a ripoff of Superman. (Which was some total boos**t.) It dragged out so long that Fawcett eventually went out of business. For years the character was just sitting in limbo until DC bought the character. Of course by then Marvel had created Captain Mar-Vell, and copyrighted the name. For awhile DC would use the name Captain Thunder, but in the end they felt it best just to go with Power of SHAZAM. (quite frankly, It sounds better.) Had DC not been so greedy, things might be different.

In any event, I'd actually like to see The Avengers be the first to truly jumpstart "cosmic Marvel." I firmly believe Thanos *will* make a cameo this year, and maybe the setup could lead to GOTG and others.
