Comics What the hell ever happened to Dr. Peter Corbeau ?

he seemed to be Professor X's best friend around the time of the Phoenix saga and got to know the X-Men pretty well, reliable, resourceful guy. Can anyone tell me if he was ever reintroduced any time in comics written in the last 20 years? Did he get killed off at some point?
