I have never heard the term until this thread.
From what I understand it's suppose to be a strong friendship between guys. The term may be new but what it represents isn't. It's like a girl-crush or man-crush. It's not sexual at all, it's friendship.
Before anyone asks, no I don't have a bromance nor will I ever.
frienemies with a bromance
Reading these words in the same sentence makes me wish neither one existed.
Hearing either one separate should make you wish neither one existed.

Heidi wants her own show called Hoemance![]()
Forget that. I can't wait for the VH1 show "Joemance" where Joe Pesci and Joe Piscopo live together under one roof and try to revive their careers.

He is too busy trying to make more money before Obama takes it all away from his non qualifying small business.Don't forget Joe the Plumber.

Yep same here. I then proceeded to call them gay for using MTV slang, and they get defensive or quiet. Since then a couple of them have come out of the closet. The only time I hear it said in real life is on college campuses, by guys who don't seem very comfortable with their sexuality.

Exactly. If it wasn't at least somewhat sexual it would just be a friendship, the word romance wouldn't be involved. If one or both guys in a friendship describe it as a "bromance" there's some definite sexual tension between them. It's like the term metrosexual, just another way to say you're gay or bi without coming out of the closet.
No, that's called being best friends. No, no, it's not a best friends thing. It's different. And it only applies to a certain kind of friendship. About the only two I can think of at the moment are J.D. and Turk from Scrubs and Shawn and Gus from Psych. Both of those are perfect examples of the bromance.
