Please help me figure out what these cartoons are that I watched when I was a tyke. (circa 1980)

One was a short animation done in a sketchy style where a fat guy sits down to eat breakfast and he gobbles it all up and keeps on eating and eating and then he eats the waiter and then the buildings and pretty soon he eats the whole world and is sucked into himself. It ends with him back at the restaurant sitting in front of his breakfast and he has no mouth. And that's it. I think it may have been on HBO. I've been plagued by nightmares of a guy eating everything ever since. Weird.

The other one was an animation that takes place in Australia in the 1800's and has a Koala bear in it. It is being told by a live action storyteller. I don't know anymore than that as I was probably 5.

Any help you can give would be much appreciated.

Thanks for the try, but the animation was more realistic and the animals didn't talk. I know it is very vague, but there was some haunting song in it that keeps reappearing in my dreams. I think that the storyteller guy had a old fashioned wooden puppet/man that had a stick coming out of its back and he would make it dance on a little plank. It's the song that he would sing while doing it that keeps popping up in my dreams.

For many many years I also had nightmares about a skinny guy in a white jumpsuit, a black bowler and a big long nose that would beat people with a cane. I finally figured it out in college, and the nightmares stopped. HBO warped my little fragile mind.

OMG dot and the whale! i loved that movie so so so so much.

The Noozles was the only koala cartoon that I ever watched.

Nope. The koala wasn't the main thing of the story. I think that a little boy saved it from a fire or something. The koala wasn't anthropomorphic. It was more realistic and not the star.

Anyone ever see this weird thing? It was absolutely nightmaric. A swedish film called Dunderklumpen (Thundering Fatty) about a magical hobo of some sort that enchants a little girl's dolls and kidnaps them. Mixed live action and cartoon and it's haunted me ever since

I used to watch this show religously when I was a kid. I can still remember all the words to the song.

if this was done around 2000, then perhaps it's not the one he/she is thinking about.
