Summer of 84

If you can't wait that long for the new season of Stranger Things, then this is the movie that might help your fix. You can tell the movie doesnt have a large budget so they make do with what they got. For the first two acts they try to cram as much early 80s nostalgia as possible. The characters and the story itself is pretty dry. You get a mystery, but it falls kinda flat for the most part. The kids try their best to be like the kids from Stranger Things or the kids from Stand By Me. It really doesn't pick up until the end of the 2nd act and it really gets good by the end of the movie. It's almost like if they thought of the ending first and made a movie around it. Overall, it's somewhat decent.

Down A Dark Hall

It's a great little ghost story. I feel like this movie would have been a hit if it came out 15 years ago. It's like they took The Others and made it for a teen audience. The cast was pretty good for the most part, but AnnaSophia Robb in particular was great. There's not that many jump scares as I was expecting and there's one jump scare that is actually well done. There's also a lot of nice gothic horror imaginary that I thought looked cool. And the story itself is better than I was expecting. It's got its problems but overall, it's a nice little gem of a horror movie.

Venom

This is easily the best worst movie of 2003. It's fascinating how someone thought this movie could still work in 2018 after everything this genre has given so far. It's almost as if they dug up a Venom script back in the early 2000s and kept it mostly unchanged. There are a lot of times where a bad movie is just bad and boring, this is quite the opposite. I'll say this though, the movie starts out semi decent. It was about a good 20-25 minutes where the movie is a very straightforward scifi horror film. And the for the most part, it is pretty well shot and directed. And I really appreciate that the movie used real locations instead of a typical hollywood backlot. That being said, once Venom gets into the picture and gets a hold of Eddie Brock, the movie just free falls into comic hi-jinks madness. It literally becomes Abbott & Costello or the Three Stooges for the next hour. Now I get Venom has a dark sense of humor, but they unnecessarily just cranked it to 11. It makes Spider-Man 3's emo Parker look sane and I'm not even joking. However, there are some legit funny moments that are indeed very funny. Once it gets into the main plot with Riz Ahmed's character in the last act, the movie becomes very one note. Every supporting character besides Venom and Eddie just falls flat and you kinda want it to be over. You get another so bad it's good moment at the end and the movie is over... until we see the after credits. That sh** was on par if not worse than the Garfield Spider-Man stingers. It's so laughably bad. Overall, I may sound like I hate the movie, but I actually don't. It's a really fun bad movie that will be talked about for years to come.

A Star Is Born

It's an interesting musical drama for sure. It starts off kinda awkward and the movie really takes its time in the early run to establish both characters. There's also some kinda corny moments that don't really fit the movie at all. I will say Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga were phenomenal acting and talent wise. They really share an interesting dynamic and you definitely see where it's heading. The best thing about this is obviously the music. I saw in Dolby Atmos and the sound really shines. This movie is 50% a rock concert and 50% drama. It's almost got a yin and yang thing to it. The direction is also very interesting and different. It's a very deep look inside addiction and fame and for the most part Cooper was able to deliver it very well. Overall, it's a well told music drama that needs to be seen with a really good sound system.

That is the movie my father and I are going to see, your 5/10 review means it will be OK for us, he has no clue about MCU and stuff but he likes SCIFI. I feared it would be total crap.

Splice

Underdeveloped sci-fi horror. Didn't like it.

Ecologia del delitto / A Bay of Blood (1971)
The Accountant (2016)

Insiduous: The Last Key

Some interesting bits but not the best

I don't think I 've seen the 3rd film. Have you? I liked the first 2.
I liked the first two very much. Yes I've seen the third. It's okay in parts. I guess I'd put it on a par with The Last Key.

Edit: The third is actually directed by Leigh Whannell (plays 'Specs' in all four movies and is co-writer of them all so far).

Oh right. Shame but I still want to see it so I've seen them all. Maybe James Wan needs to come back.
